Brad...that is a cool website...
Oh, something gave alright. The Raven's were victims of their usual bad luck and bad play, losing on a missed conversion in the last seconds, after they gave up 17 4th quarter points. Watching the Raven's is a real exercise in frustration. -- AlThis should be a great game. The No. 1 defense vs. the No. 1 offense, something has to give.
Gotta wonder how many football fans today know who Crazy Legs Hirsch, Bob Waterfield, or Norm Van Brocklin were. Half the fun of pro-football is it's history. -- AlThe poor Browns lost yet another OT game. This one on a 59-yard FG by the same kicker who missed an extra point. They are a star crossed team. My Rams continue to quietly roll along. Good to see them beat up on the hapless Niners. Even in those bright yellow uniforms the Rams could not be stopped. Crazy Legs Hirsch might have looked good in those but Goff not so much.

Well remember the goal posts on the goal lines. More than one player got his bell rung running into the posts. The posts also came into the game on a tactical basis when used as picks by receivers. It was a smart move taking the goal posts out of the field of play. -- AlI recently watched the 1951 NFL Championship game on You Tube between the Browns and Rams. It was played at the LA Coliseum where the Rams currently play. Almost like a time warp given that much of the stadium looks identical today. Other than a few obvious differences like the H-shaped goal posts in the middle of the end zone. Now that seems ludicrous. I don't know how they played around those or avoid running into the goal posts dead center of the end zone. And most of the fans were dressed up with some even wearing ties. The jersey wearing phenomenon among fans is relatively recent.

Jason, just to be clear, I wasn't upset with Tucker. Heck, it was the first PAT he's ever missed after hitting something like 240 in a row. I was upset that the defense put the Ravens in the situation to start with. Tucker is a class act. -- AlAl:
That was a tough loss but Justin Tucker is my new favorite NFL player. I will never forget his post-game press conference where he said that he wanted to answer any questions regarding the missed kick to set an example of accountability for his kids.
Pure class.
Best,
Jason
Well it's way early, but I'm calling Chefs/Rams in the Super Bowl, final score in the new Arena league now posing as the NFL will be 63-62.
The Patriots defense is a tire fire; they allowed the Bears and Crazy Legs Tribshitsky to hang 31 on them? He was running around like Curly in that stooge short where there were mistaken for college football players, if that tomato can lights you up, you know you're in trouble.
If he threw a football at the broad side of a barn, it would land in a cornfield.
He's horrendous, yet he torched the defense for 333 yards passing and close to 100 yards rushing, that 25 yard TD he scored where he ran BACKWARDS for about 20 yards, circled around the field and basically walked up the sideline was beyond infuriating.
I'm thinking they finish 11-5 and get bounced in the second round by the Steelers, I think it will be Steelers/Chefs in the AFCCG where the Chefs will beat the Steelers, even though Pittsburg knows how to beat the Chefs.
And boy, how bout dem Iggles, boy are they proving to everyone that last years miracle Super Bowl win was no fluke...…………………….:rolleyes2:
They might not even make the playoffs at the rate their going; gee, too bad, I was looking forward to their owner dancing in the locker room again after a big win, more like having a seizure.
Random Thought - I still think Joe Flacco is a dud. And before my Ravens friends on here start yelling at me, this has nothing to do with being a Steelers fan. I just don't think much of him. Let's be honest, he is on the hot seat in his contract year, somehow plays all world, wins SB. Next year continuing into years, he stinks. Not just stinks, sucks, some of the worst QB stats ever. All sorts of excuses are made, lack of WR (although 2 near HOF's were part of that ), lack of O Line, lack of this, lack of that............. Whatever. He basically is just a dud. THEN, oh my......Ravens draft Lamar Jackson and out of nowhere, Flacco has the most yards of his career through 7 games. WHAT? REALLY? SO, he is afraid for his job and all of sudden plays better??? Again, he is a dud in my opinion. I just don't get it. I swear everytime I see him come to the line, it literally looks like his brain is cramping. Is it Joe Cool or Joe Drool?????
I will go out on a limb here and say the following.................If Baltimore had a different QB during this particular time (the awesome D they had year in year out), I think they win at least 2 SB's, maybe 3SBs. George, I know you will hate hearing this, but the Ravens D had the Pats number for a bunch of years and if they had a different QB, may have changed the outcome.
Of course, if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle but it is fun to think about.
The Steelers had a bye week, probably the best week of the NFL season for me................they couldn't screw up. Curious to see what they do at home against Cleveland. If we lay an egg, I am done watching.
TD
Been watching football for almost 6 decades and I have never seen a worse case of strategy and clock management than was exhibited by the NY Giants last night in the last minutes of that game. What were they thinking with 2 QB sneaks as time ticked away? -- Al
