N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (2 Viewers)

Sammy, the sports year hasn't gone the way I had hoped either. As many know, I have duel allegiances in baseball (O's and Nats) and football (Redskins and Ravens) in the NFL and UMd and Navy in the NCAA. Nats and O's were a bust. Redskins are doing ok at the moment but I think it will end badly; Ravens are sputtering along; Navy is having a down year and UMd is on the verge of disaster with little margin for error in terms of a bowl game. I got 6 teams and no real joy so far. I'm hoping the Ravens straighten out and that the Skins stay lucky. Someone once said hope is a good thing.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Al:

I feel for you. My sports year has been bad too. The Giants lost 89 games despite having the second highest payroll in baseball. Stanford and UT are both mediocre at best with no shot at the championship. The Niners lost their new franchise QB in week 3 of this season.

The only positive is the fact that Warriors will no doubt win the NBA title, only problem is I don't watch basketball.

Yeah, it's been a tough year for some of us sports fans on the forum (except for George:wink2:). Jason, I know how you feel and it's curious that I'm not a pro-basketball fan (or Hockey, for that matter) either, which leaves only baseball and football, increasing the odds against happiness. We'll just have to hold on for the fabled 'next year'. I am a college basketball fan but that is usually always another lesson in frustration. Oh well, is it March yet? -- Al

I was actually looking forward to Monday night football and then I turned on the game only to hear Joe Tessitore babbling on about some inane "factoid". Ugh. I think I will try and find the game on the radio.

Terrible weekend for me as both my college teams and both pro teams all lost but at least I had the satisfaction of watching a good old-timey defensive battle between the Rams and the Saints. The Saints actually forced the Rams to a 3 and out once.:rolleyes2: -- Al

That was quite a display. When it was 35-35 and the Saints went for the FG, I thought that might be a mistake as I was sure the Rams were going to march down the fiend but they apparently ran out of gas.

At this rate I do not seeing the Ravens in the playoffs, can't win the big games and today was ugly, Lamar Jackson time??? Not sure, but I'm buying what Tom was selling, the fan base is beyond pissed and I'm sure Biscotti isn't much happier.

Always jump on the Saints Butch lol

After watching a few games this weekend I am starting to wonder what happened to tackling?

The Cowboys are a mess and most of that has to do with Jerry Jones.

Jason...they are a mess and a half...not sure JJ is to blame...that offensive line can't block for sheeeet...Dak may be a flash in the pan...can't tell until he'e not sacked 10 times a game...Linehan has the most pedestrian offense I have ever seen...in this day and age...a running game won't get it done...this is the era of the pass...not the run...

Mike:

Great points, especially with regard to the coaches.

I get heavy coverage of 4 NFL teams, the 49ers, the Raiders, Texans and Cowboys. All four of them have had their issues this year but the Cowboys are unique in that each time the subject of their problems arises the first guy I see being interviewed is the owner. He needs to let go of the GM duties and bring in someone with some real football knowledge. I don't think he will do that though because it would take away his spotlight.

Odd fact alert: The Redskins are division leaders with a 5-3 record, despite a negative 12 point differential. That's not the odd thing, surprising, but not odd. The odd thing is that there has not been a single lead change in any Redskin game this season. So far, you score first, you win. No lead changes through 8 games is about as odd as it gets. -- Al

Al:

That is a cool stat!

The changing world of the NFL:

Standing in line yesterday at the super market I heard 2 "fans" say that Brady was on a decline since he had not scored more than 26 fantasy points 2 times this year.

Huh?

Dez torn Achilles! Out for the year! That was quick

That really stinks, last play of his first practice...…………….he's done now, no way he comes back from a torn achilles at his age.

Fantasy sports is the new reality, sadly.
