N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (2 Viewers)

Right now, Jackson is looking like the best QB out of that class. He seems to be doing well because it doesn’t seem as if they ask him to do to much. The question is whether he’s more Kaepernick or Randall Cunningham. I think the former but we’ll see.

BINGO; they don't ask him to do too much, ie, be a game manager and just run, run, run when in doubt.

If someone can contain him in the pocket and force him to throw to beat you, we'll see how that shakes out, problem is so far, no one has been able to do it.

The NFC East is so bad that going into week 14 and at 3-9 the Redskins can still win the division and host a playoff game.

The numbers may say so, but I wouldn't bet my TS collection on the possibility. They are bad. They almost blew a 15 point lead in the last 2 minutes yesterday but the Panthers refused the gift.:rolleyes2: -- Al

As bad as that is, I just read that the Jets are now the first team in league history to lose twice in the same season to two teams with a record of 0-7 or worse.

Well, that's bad, but be that as it may, the Redskins lost to the Jets by 17. The Redskins are several shades of bad worse than the Jets. -- Al

Big week of change with the Ravens and Saints jumping to the top spots in their conferences. Tough week for the Pats and Niners. Both lose and get bumped down the playoff standings. The Niners in particular since they dropped behind Seattle even for the NFC west division. They would be a wildcard team. There are three 10-2 teams in the NFC. That's a combined 30-6 and among the six losses at least two were to the other 10-2 team. The Saints beat the Seahawks and the Seahawks beat the Niners.

The Niners have a tough final 4 games with the only easy one being against the Falcons. This weekend at New Orleans is really a make or break game for them.

The NFC is absolutely stacked this year, much like it used to be in the 1980's when whoever showed up from the AFC got demolished in the Super Bowl.

There is one elite team in the AFC; the Browns, the Patriots are not elite, not even close, the Chiefs aren't either, so the Browns sit alone.

Whoever they face in the Super Bowl, I will be rooting my *** off for that team, I'd love to see either the 49ers or the Seahawks get there, Wilson vs Crazy Legs Jackson would be a great battle.

Actually it was 1985 through 1997, 13 strait wins for the NFC and they were mostly blow outs, not even close...………...more of that this year vs a non Patriots team would be ideal.

When the news broke that Arizona defensive back Josh Shaw had been suspended for gambling on NFL games I knew his name sounded familiar.

He is the guy who was (in)famously suspended while at USC after he lied about how he suffered injuries to his ankles. He told the team that he suffered the injuries while jumping from the second story of an apartment to save his nephew who was drowning in a pool. He actually suffered the injuries after jumping from his balcony to avoid the police who were called regarding an argument between him and his girlfriend.

God I hope Jerrah grabs Coach Rivera with a quickness!!! Sure, let Coach Garrett finish the season but lets get things moving in a new direction. Big fan of Coach R!!!

I hope not RR's 9 year record with Carolina is 76-63...54.6%
JG's 10 year record is 83-65...56.1%
Rivera doesn't impress me at all...
his win percentage is lower than Garrets...
both coaches are mediocre at best...
I'm not impressed with RR...
hope they can find someone better than RR....

why do you want him for the Cowboys?
are you a Giants...Skins or Eagles fan?

Sounds like USC will retain Clay Helton. There was a rumor that they were going to hire Urban Meyers. So that leaves him on the table for the NFL or another college job if he wants it. The Cowboys are the NFL team most often mentioned. Not sure what kind of NFL coach Meyers would be though. I strongly doubt it happens.

What about McCarthy? He’s available now!

Ive been a diehard Dallas fan since Staubach was under center- admittedly towards the end of that run but still- don't hold it against me just because of my age {sm4}

My son Andrew loves the Giants, wife loves the Redskins- Sunday's are always lively.

I disagree- I think RR did more with the talent he had around him and with the pieces in place in Dallas I think he could hit the ground running. I think his approach fits better with Dallas than JG's does. He went 15-1 and to the SB back in 15 so I think he has more to offer than JG does. I also think he would appeal more to the fan base in Dallas but you would know more about that than I would as you are native to the area.

Brad- that's a great point too- I forgot about him lurking out there still.

Yeah, I saw that- I heard rumors they were chasing after Rich Franklin from PSU but that must have fallen off. Not sure Helton is the guy that can return them to their glory but who knows. Hopefully someone can step up and return the PAC-12 to its prominence- this year has been pretty rough for the conference in general.

I don't think UM will be much of an NFL coach though.

Chris...

I think something we can both agree on...
is that Garrett needs to go...

management has surrounded him with enough talent to win this season...
and he has squandered it...

he's had some good seasons with lesser talent...
12-4...13-3...but mostly average 50/50 records...

while I have defended him in the past...
I'm ready for a change...
I just don't feel he's the guy for the job...

Dallas is a high profile team...
they have a huge fan base...
fans have been consistently disappointed for years...
it's time for a change...
Garrett had his chances...
he has not consistently produced results...

this year...
Cooper...Elliott...and Prescott are in the top 5 categories in their respective positions...
however...their defense stinks...
especially their secondary...
Richards was supposed to be the messiah...
that hasn't worked out either...
somebody else needs to manage these players...

I don 't think the Dallas head coach matters as much as Jerry Jones does.

As long as he is the GM the Cowboys will not win another Super Bowl.

Jason...

you have made several posts over the years blaming JJ being the GM as the cause for their failures...
I have never disputed that claim from you...
but where specifically does he fall short in your opinion as a GM?

he's not in his luxury box calling plays with a headset on...he's not on the sideline calling plays...he's certainly not in the game playing...his job title has specific duties...

I feel like he has given them the talent to win with the players selected...I feel he has put a good team on the roster...if he has screwed the pooch on anything...I think it's his selection of head coach Jason Garrett...do you think JJ is somehow meddlesome in the actual game...when they pan in on him...he's just sitting there watching...he's not coaching or calling plays....please expand...maybe you know something I don't...if you read his job duties below...I think he has done more than a satisfactory job of his duties...when the Cowboys lose...it seems a catch all phrase by fans, haters and observers...that it is all JJ's fault...

"as long as JJ is the GM...they will never win"...

why do you think that?

I Googled "what are the responsibilites of an NFL GM?"...

Job responsibilities include hiring the head coach, building the remainder of the personnel department staff, coordinating the rubric for scouting college prospects and compiling the team's roster in accordance to the NFL's salary cap...

In the National Football League, the general manager or GM of a team typically controls player transactions and bears the primary responsibility on behalf of the team during contract discussions with players.
