N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (5 Viewers)

Yeah, I kinda figured that, wouldn't matter who the opponent is, everyone outside of New England hates the Patriots.

and I'm sure Mike is laying dough down on the Patriots.

I don't hate NE...
and yes...
I bet on NE every week...
I have told you that for years...
they are usually like $$$ in the bank...
doesn't matter what the line is...
they cover the Vegas spread way more often than not...
-14....-17...it doesn't matter...
last week against KC...+3...^&grin
how often do you see NE getting points as the dog...
this week they opened as even and have already gone to a -2 1/2 favorite...
they just keep rolling...
the bookies hate NE...

No kidding, that is amazing and nuts in a way. Again, how crazy is the +3 if KC holds the 4 pt lead at the minute to go mark. Just insane how literally a game of inches the game was. NE truly are playing lights out right now.

the thing about Brady and Belichick that is so different than other NFL teams...
they have a college mentality when it comes to scoring...
they will run up the score as much as possible...

like a young Mike Tyson that knows how to close a fight when his opponent is reeling...
they will knock you out...

they are relentless on scoring...
they will slam the door on you...
running up the score...

when most coaches will run out the clock...
they will try to score again...
so a miracle comeback is unrealistic...

not this year...
Chicago...the Rams...New Orleans and KC led the league...
but almost every year...
NE has the largest point differential of all 32 teams...
they bury you so you become one deminsional and have to throw to get back in the game...

the bookies and Vegas must hate NE...

I don't disagree with that. The Rams have an incredible uphill battle in public perception and I think that can break 2 ways, it either drowns them or motivates them.

However, at the end of the day, as I said, the Pats are playing pretty good football and if they can stay consistent, they will win. One odd item to note, Brady is actually the weakest link right now ratings wise, ie you could actually say the Chiefs game came down to 1 play, if no offsides, that would have been 3 interceptions and he actually would be a literal GOAT!

Again, I believe the Pats will win the game and I stand by my prediction.

The Rams have an incredible uphill battle in public perception because a ref blew a call? Wow. Are fans going to vote on who wins the Super Bowl? A few talking heads will mention it in the endless pregame nonsense but it is not a factor for the game. Not even a blip. Just like spygate will come up again on the anniversary of the Pats cheating in their first Super Bowl win against the Rams. A talking point to fill time.

Doug,
I only go by what I hear at my company which is hugely NFL interested and I can tell you that if we are a blip of reality, I have heard more about this non call then ever and I have also heard a lot of folks are not even going to watch the game, opting for dinner, movies, etc. I just find there is a lot of loathing for the NFL right or wrong in the eyes of the some and the Rams will bear part of it. Right or wrong, its reality and the Saints sure are not going to let it die.

The most comical thing about that horrendous non call is last night on Inside the NFL on Showtime, the former ref they have on the panel was trying to explain it away by calling it a "bang/bang play, when it happens in real time it's a lot easier to miss"...………….holy ****, for real?

The defender lit the receiver up, helmet to helmet, he destroyed him well before the ball got there.

When you see all the ticky tack BS DPI calls they throw flags on week after week, to not throw a flag there is just brutal.

Say what you want, but the Rams will be answering questions about that play all week long next week, especially on media day or night or whatever they call that waste of time dog and pony show.

I'm getting really tired about all of the crying coming from the media and the Saints about the pass interference. Their owner comes out with some ridiculous statement, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk saying the commissioner has the power to overturn the out come of the game etc etc.
The reason the Saints had home field in their crappy dome was because they beat the Steelers in week 16 with the huge help of two pass interference calls on Joe Haden. The first one in the end zone was the worst call I've ever seen, even worse than last week's. Jim Nantz and Romo both said it was the worst PI call they've ever seen. The second one came on an incomplete pass on 4th and 2 that would've ended the game. Sean Payton and their fans were whooping it up after the game, willing to happily take those bad calls. What goes around comes around.

Amen. Bad calls go with sports just like peas go with carrots. No way around them, no way to eliminate them (short of automatic reviews on each and every play, and we may be headed there:rolleyes2:), so suck it up and move on. It is a lesson I learned in 1965 when the Packers beat the Colts in OT of the Conference Championship game 13-10 on a FG that was obviously wide but called good. Replay didn't exist, game over 13-10. Sometimes life isn't fair. No point in calling a wahbulance, just move on. -- Al

I agree there is a still some media and fan noise. It just happened and there is a lot of time to fill before the SB, but I don't see it impacting the Rams or the game. The Saints owner is playing to the disgruntled fan base and Payton is trying to deflect from his horrific play calling at the end of the game that resulted in another playoff choke on his watch. It will be ancient history in a few days. John Elway and the Cowboys are already on record opposing replay for PI.

Why is that an issue for the Rams? They didn't make the call. That is a problem for the refs and NFL. Even if they are asked ten thousand times, it is hard to understand how that impacts the Super Bowl. Will they be filled with remorse and forfeit the game? How did the Pats handle questions after Brady deflated the balls to win a playoff game or Bill was caught filming other teams and stealing playbooks from locker rooms?

I have to give credit where credit is due; you've continually beat the cheating angle post after post, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year.

You're consistent, I'll give you that.

The 9,000 questions about Deflategate would have been a huge distraction leading up to the game for other teams, but for the Patriots, it wasn't their first rodeo, so they took it in stride and beat the Seahawks.

And the two footballs that were underinflated by .02 PSI were reinflated at halftime, the Patriots led 14-7 at the time; they scored THIRTY ONE POINTS WITH PROPERLY INFLATED FOOTBALLS IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE AFCCG.

After the Patriots were caught filming the Jets signals in game one of the 2007 season and they stopped, THEY WENT ON TO WIN 15 GAMES IN A ROW AND FINISHED THE SEASON 16-0.

So neither of those distractions affected them.

How it will affect the little train that could Los Angeles/Anaheim/St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams and their 14 year old coach will be a different story.

Correct, good point and I tried to put this season out of my head, but you are absolutely right, they were bad calls on Haden. That said, I was so sick of our roller coaster performances that I kind of felt like we made our own bed!

TD,

If they start to review every play, touch, grab, sneeze, dirty look or gesture...the game will never be played. It will be an endless review of "was it a penalty...hmm lets review it" or not. Anyway, boo-who there was a bad call, and make no mistake IT WAS. But, the show must go on.

John,
I agree I don't want a ticky tack review, but this year there were some egregious ones that should have been righted in that they actually affected the outcome of the game and there was more than the Rams/Saints one. They need to do something to get it right and I think there is a solution that doesn't ruin the game. There are also plenty of bang bang plays where its a judgement and I have no problem with them either.

The ones that are so blatant and obvious, it is inexcusable that they are missed and I can name a few off the top of my head that stand out without question where the NFL admitted they missed them:

A. Ravens = Chargers Playoff - right before half, the Chargers were going to score and the nail in coffin would have made the 2nd half unwatched - Ravens blatant Pass Int in the endzone, not close, announcers called it, the Ravens safety admitted he was beat and interfered, yet somehow the official standing right there didn't call it? WHY?

B. Previously discussed Haden in the Raiders game - they were not close, they were legit plays and should have been no flag and end of game.

C. Steelers Chargers - False Start on Chargers O - everyone stops playing except rivers and receiver - they score a TD? HUH?

D. Steelers Chargers - same game punt return - Definite block in the back, again, not close and sprung the returner - NO CALL - HUH? Again everyone saw it but the official responsible.

I am sure there are 20-40-60 more. At some point you have to ask why? and how? It is a BS response to say these officials are human and make mistakes - HUH? They are paid well and there is no excuse for these "mistakes". It almost makes you question whether the officials are on the take or the game is fixed sometimes? This is why replay in certain instances should be invoked from the booth and these plays are fixed b/c I am sure the official in the replay booth saw ALL of the plays I mentioned above.

As I said previously, I didn't and don't care whether it was the Rams or the Saints, and I don't care that the Saints had bad play calls or whatever, they got hosed, there is no ifs buts candy or nuts, that's the facts jack! And in my opinion, this was preventable with the technology we have today, that is my only point. And I think its valid that you have more than a handful of fans, pundits, tv announcers questioning the legitimacy of that game. (And other games throughout the season, this year stands out as probably one of the worse)

To add to above, Andrew Whitworth - Rams Lineman is all over the news calling out the Saints as sore losers, WOW, this coming from the same POS who played for the Bengals who thought Burfict's headhunting hit on Antonio Brown in the playoffs was legit. What a complete Assclown this guy is.

Never wishing anyone bad will, but I hope Donta Hightower "Tanya Harding's" Whitworth in the SB and let's see if he feels that's a legit hit.

Most Rams who have class like Jared Goff simply stated when asked - paraphrased - We worked hard all season, kept fighting and we are thankful for going to the SB. Looks like he took a PR class as well as has some class.

Speaking of the Rams, I'm watching the replay of the Patriots/Rams Super Bowl, #36...…………...man that turf looks dreadful, like they are playing on a pool table.

I keep forgetting; is the Super Bowl the Patriots won due to filming the other teams walk through, or is this the one where they stole the other teams playbook, or is this the one where they underinflated the footballs, or is this the one where they signed a player the other team cut ten minutes before the game and he told them all of their secrets or is this the one where they bribed the officials out in the parking lot?

I get so confused with all the cheating, it's hard to keep them all strait...…………...

An impressive display of sarcasm. :salute:: -- Al

I am going to help out all of the Saints and Rams fans who have been discussing their championship game these past few days:

It doesn't matter which one of you won, either team would/will lose to the Patriots.
