NBA basketball...................... (1 Viewer)

I read today that Nate Thurmond had passed away. He was a real beast back in the day for Golden State.

Rest in peace Nate Thurmond. He was a great player on the court and a true gentleman off of it. The Bay Area and the NBA lost a true role model.

As Warrior's owner Joe Lacob said:

"Without a doubt, he is one of the most beloved figures to ever wear a Warriors uniform and both a Hall of Fame player and Hall of Fame person...."

This may be the fastest firing on record: Suns fire their coach after 0-3 start.

Great, gutty win for the Warriors tonight after they lost K.D. Raptors were so close they could taste it. Maybe they will but not tonight.

I am a Laker guy, but rooting for the Raptors in this one, I am a little tired of the Warriors and Curry and Kerr! In all seriousness, really don't have a dog in the hunt, but the Raptors have played extremely well as the "underdog" and I think It would be good for the NBA as a whole if they won.

I can't disagree about it being good for underdogs if they won but my son is a Warriors fan so I am rooting for them; I'm a long suffering Knicks fan. Game 6 should be a lot of fun looks like Durant may have injured his Achilles, just a few weeks from free agency

I like the Warriors, Kerr comes across as classy, Curry too, he never gets in trouble off the court and acts like a professional on it, I like Klay Thompson too, they seem to be a likeable team to me, their recent run has been pretty remarkable.

Feel bad for KD, he apparently ruptured his achilles tendon, might have to sit out all of the 2019/2020 season as a result.

Would love to see them storm back from down 3-1 and take this...…………….

A disappointing end to the season for the Warriors. The injuries killed them. They could lose Durant but not Klay Thompson. Even with all that it wasn’t decided until the final seconds. Hats off to the Raptors and this will help the game in Canada but without those injuries I don’t they would have won tonight.

The off season begins.

Congrats to the Raptors, exciting finish, they really wanted it and I think the best team won, they controlled the series with consistency.

On a positive note IMO we don't have to now hear Steve Kerr explain for another year in a row why he is declining the traditional White House invite ad nauseum. ^&grin

The best team won?

The Warriors did not have Durant and then lost Thompson like Brad said, that comment makes zero sense, I suppose that game was "fun", just like that ****show Wednesday night a "fun" game, what was "fun" about a 4-1 blowout loss in game 7?

If the Warriors had a healthy Durant, they win this in 5, the one quarter he played he made a huge difference in their game.

Great; two nights in a row of sports nut punches for me, a root canal followed up by a colonoscopy...…………..I'm done with sports for awhile, let me know when NFL camps open.

The finish was exciting but you can say that about most games at this level. How did they want it more any less than GS did and how did the best team win; the Warriors were down two of the best players in the game.

Is there a need to introduce politics here. If you want to do that, there's a place where you can do that.

The Warriors are going to need to figure out what to do in the off season. Thompson, who is a free agent like Durant, has a torn ACL. He won't be back until March (wherever he plays) and Durant is gone for the year; he may never return to glory. They have some tough choices to make. If they sign both, they likely won't make the playoffs. If they sign Thompson, they will need to find someone to replace his scoring. A challenging offseason for them.

Sounds like both operations were done at the same time from the same hole {eek3}^&grin It's only sports.

agreed...

the best group of healthiest players won...
not the best team...

had GS been 100%...
even 80%...

5 maybe 6 games and they would have won...

A healthy Warriors team beats any current team in a 7 game series. A few years ago after the Warriors won one of their championships a reporter asked Curry what could possibly stop this team from winning the next 3-4 titles? His answer, injuries.

At the same time it is fair to say that the Warriors benefited from playing injury depleted teams over the years too.

I truly believe Golden State still has 1 more championship in it. There will be time enough to debate that later, for now, a tip of the cap to the Raptors. They are the champions.

At this stage of my life I rarely root for any particular professional team. I enjoy watching talented athletes and especially those with good character and strong work ethics. A great athlete = good genetics, good coaching, good training, a strong work ethic and motivation. Sure there are teams that play well together, have chemistry and a great coach...that is exciting and rewarding to watch.
But with so much depending on money and getting the "superstars" it has taken the fun out of cheering for a local team. The politics are annoying as well. Its their right to protest and pontificate but I watch sports to escape the crazy political and economic times we live in. I can watch 24 hours of news to get angry, depressed and disillusioned if that's what I want.
Having played many sports myself in High School and college I honestly enjoyed the game and effort more than the outcome. When my friends get depressed or elated from a local team's standing I tend to laugh it off and tell them to get a life!
No offense to those who love their teams and get an "escape" from watching them.
Of course I do get somewhat patriotic when I watch a USA team or athlete in the Olympics but I still appreciate the individual performers.

These athletes make a lot of money and have the thrill of being pros so I can't feel sorry when they lose a game or championship.
Injuries are part of the game and those teams that can stay healthy by luck or good training get what they deserve. Having a deep bench
and a great coach is part of making a team successful.

Enjoy the games!

They’re planning to offer max contracts to KD and Klay. They’re probably not making the playoffs next year but could get a draft pick to fortify them for the future.

Notwithstanding all, let’s congratulate Terry and Toronto. Even with a healthy Klay, there’s no guarantee the Warriors win game 6 or even 7 although game 7 would have been a lot of fun. I’m sure having a Canadian city win it will help grow the sport.

Brad:

Great post on all accounts, especially the congrats to Terry and Toronto.
