NCAA Football 2019 (2 Viewers)

The announcers were talking about it too; with that ****show unfolding on the field, they had to fill air time somehow..............."Georgia has an incredibly easy schedule next year"............

Out of that bunch, only Tennessee will give them a game.

SEC hegemony remains a big problem for this sport. Taking nothing away for Georgia. They’re a wagon. But Having 2 or 3 programs from the same region of the country dividing up the championships year after year has made this event a bore.

Which is a pity, because the regular season is often so wildly entertaining.

Your team has become the Patriots; the team the rest of the country hates.

So embrace it while it lasts, ok Harry?

On any given day, any SEC team can beat another SEC team. Except maybe Vanderbilt.

Schedules are put together many years in advance.

If anything, Coach Smart should be receiving more plaudits than he is. More than half the starters from the 2021 Championship season were drafted into the NFL and they still came back to be undefeated and win it again. That is incredible depth -- and coaching.

The rest of the country can do what it wants. The UGA streak wont last. Will Stetson Bennett's replacement be as good? We are well aware of the fleeting nature of preeminence.

Harry? Excuse me.

"A person who is harry is often perceived as unsophisticated, vulgar or with bad taste. The effect of bad taste is often characterized with the term harry, e.g. a harry dress or a harry car."

The back up Georgia stuck in the game had a rocket for an arm, better than Bennett's, who is no slouch, but is also 25, that's hard to believe, but it is what it is.

As long as SEC teams get the cream of the crop, they will dominate the NCAA, the national champion has come from the SEC 8 years in a row if I am not mistaken.

Or maybe an SEC team has been in the final 8 years in a row, whichever is the case, that conference is loaded.

Very proud of my Bulldogs! Definitely brought their "A" game last night against TCU. Me back in the day :smile2:

And you should be; someone who not only went to the school, but who also was on the team, back to back championships to boot.

The SEC has dominated but mostly Bama. Nick Satan has had an historic run. The greatest in college football history. Georgia and Auburn have had a few good years. The rest are not much better than any other conference. TN and Auburn have been mediocre for years. LSU is hit and miss. The style of SEC football, however, crushes outside competition. That air raid finesse football doesn't cut it. Teams like USC and ND will have to get more physical to ever compete.

The SEC has won 13 of the last 17 championships. Kind of impressive. -- Al

Hats off to Georgia - they proved that not only best on paper, but when they execute they are unstoppable. Congrats to TCU for making it, unfortunately, they got stunned early and Georgia's Defense caused a lot of mistakes. Once you get behind like that, very hard to do anything when the D knows you are throwing every down. All that said, I am happy for Georgia as it sucks to be the best team and not perform up to your ability. The OSU game reminded them of that and they came out firing. End of day, not a surprising outcome as they truly are head and shoulders above everyone else.

Can someone please explain to me how Stetson Bennett did not win the Heisman Trophy?

And more importantly, how is he not considered a first round pick?

Sad news about Charles White. One of USC's record eight Heisman winners. He was the single toughest player that I ever saw. He would carry the rock 30 times or more in the good old days. I remember him playing in the Rose Bowl with blood running down his face. Those were the days and he was the greatest of them all.

He was not the best player. He plays on the best team. You could plug a lot of middling QBs into Georgia and they will look pretty good. Not much different than the Niners. When you have the best defense and a ton of NFL-level skill players, the QB just has to avoid mistakes. That doesn't mean Bennett is not a great player. He is. But he definitely benefits from being on an elite team.

So he is not worthy of Heisman Trophy, but why isn’t he considered a first round draft pick?

The NFL is full of great defensive teams. Many of those teams are also loaded with skilled position players. All they seem to need is a “great” QB.

i believe Stetson is considered a bit on the short side for an NFL quarterback. Like 5-10 or thereabouts.

I suspect somebody will grab him sooner rather than later. Heck Brady didn’t go until the sixth round or so. Sometimes the draft gurus get it dead wrong. Sometimes they don’t.

I get the size aspect, but he is a winner who could step into the game manager role in the NFL.

He is also obviously incredibly smart. He turned down a scholarship from Columbia.

In today’s NFL smart with a winning track record can pay huge dividends.

I get the players being able to be compensated for using their name and likeness but this sounds like pay to play bribery. A "fan club" can pay players to come to their school? And this guy revoked his commitment to play at Florida after the deal fell through:

"Rashada’s commitment to the Gators was contingent on a four-year, $13 million NIL deal he signed with the Gator Collective, according to The Associated Press.
The Gator Collective is a "fan club that connects athletes with fans while allowing the athletes to earn compensation for their name, image, and likeness."

I don't think he has improved his chances by getting arrested. A terrible few weeks for Georgia. The tragic car crash with all the sordid details of female "recruiting assistants" driving players to strip clubs in university owned vehicles. And now multiple arrests of players. Nothing for the NCAA to see there. They are busy investigating the purchase of hamburgers and use of fog machines in practice.

Yes, pretty awful news out of Athens of late. Few minor points. The vehicles were rented and the recruiter assistant was not authorized as a driver for current players. She paid for that error with her life. So she personalty has already received the harshest punishment possible, IMO.

And then Stetson shows his arse in Texas. Too much success too fast. Young folk thinking they are unstoppable, aka kids being stupid, essentially. But its only football. Real life has a way of straightening out that kind of nonsense.

Coach Smart doesn't seem like the kind of guy to tolerate crude / bad behavior. Then again, neither did Paterno. If the Ga program is corrupt or otherwise out of control, Id bet it gets outed sooner rather than later.

I think he can find some solace in the fact that the recent history of the NFL draft is full of players that have been picked despite being implicated in worse crimes.

Those crimes and in some places convictions, include felony weapons possession, felony sexual/assault, felony drug distribution charges, felony kidnapping/stalking charges etc.

Not too mention even more players with misdemeanor charges.

Don't disagree, but I would tend to give Stetson the benefit of the doubt here, he is a 20 plus year old kid at the end of the day who went out and got hammered, got separated from his group, got lost, etc etc etc. Bad decisions yes, but at that age, what harm did he end up causing? None, just his own reputation and a I Look Like An Idiot moment.

The other issues in GA, well, terrible news, but welcome to college football and IMO the era of NIL where I get paid Millions and may never make it. The whole thing is out of control.

I think it is disrespectful to decline invitations to the White House. I thought it was disrespectful when woke athletes did this under the prior administration and hold the same view on this situation. Regardless of who is president, it is an honor. Not a good lesson for young folks.

“The University of Georgia first received on May 3 an invitation for the Bulldog football team to visit the White House on June 12,” the statement read. “Unfortunately, the date suggested is not feasible given the student-athlete calendar and time of year.”
