NCAA Football 2024 (2 Viewers)

Saw a great quote while in Austin this weekend. "Football doesn't build character. It eliminates the weak ones"

This is going to be a great weekend with many rivalry games being played. I'm looking forward to it. I just hope we are ready for a very respectable GA Tech team. Lots will be sorted out after these games are played. As I stated earlier, I had a great time going the UGA/UMASS game this past weekend. Shot of me at the game.

I think the Dawgs will do just fine in this one, rivalry or not! Good luck to ya.

CFP is still somewhat of a mess. How is Clemson still even considered a possibility???? They are a terrible football team. I hope SCarolina beats them this weekend, I am ready for Dumbo to go home for the year. I guess I "lied" earlier, my 2 hates are the Gators AND Clemson.

The same goes for Colorado at #25. They have 3 loses, one of which was to a super weak Kansas team.

This despite having the top rated transfer class and QB who is being paid $6.2mil in NIL money.

Meanwhile Army is no longer ranked at 9-1 with their one loss coming against #5 Notre Dame.

Granted Army has played a mediocre schedule, but all of those wins have come with no transfers or NIL money.

Boise St. is currently projected as the #4 team in the college football playoffs. They would get a first round bye despite there being probably 10-15 teams that would beat them by 30 points or more.

Boise State is one of the few non big conference teams that has been consistently good against larger (more wealthy) teams over the last 15 years.

The Ducks have won by an average of 18 points this year, Boise State lost to them by 3 points.

Interesting weekend thus far - Georgia escaped literally, how GA Tech blows that one is beyond me. Ohio State - Michigan owns them. South Carolina is my favorite team for a minute - sent Dumbo packing!!!!!!!!!! Go Gamecocks!

Just because I can't resist, inquiring minds want to know if Ohio State was as aggressive as they were in causing a postgame brawl, could they have fared better during the game>?<? Ryan Day is another Dumbo Sweeney. Good for a moment, no staying power, goodnight Irene. Guess he is at the chapel praying Indiana and Penn State both lose, sad thing is, losing to Michigan 4 times in a row is enough to lose your job!

Pulling for USC right now. and hoping Texas doesn't fubar tonight against A&M.

Always fun in College FB.

Good lord Miami, now the SMU mustangs need to beat Clemson. How do you lose to Syracuse. USC gave it their all was rooting for them but Notre Dame survives.

Hopefully Texas is ready to play. Hook em!

Miami has been doing a hire wire act all year long, they stole that one game vs VA Tech they had no business winning, barely beat CAL too. The final four should be interesting, throw 4 names in a hat, anyone of the four could win it between Oregon, Texas (God help me), ND and Georgia with tOSU and Penn St as dark horses; now watch all six of them get knocked out.

Texas survives a very odd weekend. Now have to go play SEC championship game. Not sure if a good think or not. Seems like teams are penalized for playing more games win or lose.

What an absolute embarrassment of a weekend in college football for winning teams and their flag planting crap.

Every team that did that should take notes from Florida’s coach Billy Napier (from ESPN):

"Obviously, what happened there at the end of the game is not who we want to be as a program," Napier said. "It's embarrassing to me, and it's a distraction from a really well-played football game. I want to apologize on behalf of the entire organization just in terms of how we represented the university there. We shouldn't have done that. We won't do that moving forward. And there will be consequences for all involved."

So that rivalry game got mothballed for years because Texas threw a fit over A&M moving to the SEC?

The same SEC that Texas is now in? They were up 17-0 at the half and won 17-7, what did their offense do, go home?

What a snoozefest; the pregame stuff in the stands by the A&M crowd was the highlight of the game.

From what I read, Napier was really embarrassed Norvell gave him hell at the handshake and basically said we agreed to put this stuff in the past. IE FSU vs Florida shenanigans. Always easier for the losing team to play the victim, but again, I believe the 2 of them are somewhat closer in friendship and apparently Napier was really mad with his team. I always say win with class, lose with it too. I have never ever thought the flag planting or turf cemetery crap is any good for sportsmanship. I liked how Sark directed Texas players away from the middle of A&M's field.

And there you have the Quinn Ewers debacle. If Arch Manning plays that entire game with the way they played Defense, Texas wins by 40 pts. Texas D ruled the day and they are going to need that same D vs. Georgia. My hope is we get the Georgia who played 3.9 or the 4 quarters against GA Tech. That team doesn't worry me, it is the one who came out and knocked Texas early at home. Hopefully getting them the second time will be a plus. Texas knows what they are in for.

And for the record, if you thought Texas hates OU, A&M is on another level. It is far deeper than the original SEC move. A&M is the most disliked Texas Team, they all root for each other against A&M. Most Texans refer to A&M as a cult. Just sayin. ESPN put out a decent article about the break in the rivalry and you will see since 2012 the stuff that went on behind the scenes. It was more poltiically driven then any of either University really cared. A&M actually declined to renew the rivalry for 2 years which is when Texas signed to play Alabama.

And the 12th man.................................................as the song says - we just don't care. Django Walker - Texas Longhorns.

In terms of Ohio St., they win the Michigan game if the FG kicker makes a couple of chip shots. They are likely still in the playoff with as good or better chance to win it all as anyone. This loss either motivates them or the psychological bottom drops out. ND did not impress me much against USC. They have some NFL caliber players as always but not a championship contender. Texas ended up not winning a single game against a top 25 team. Still a chance to win it, though. Oregon has the reputation of not matching the physical play of their opponents. If they get Ohio St. or Georgia, that will be tight. They will role over Texas.

Best four teams are Oregon, Ohio St., Georgia, Texas.

The latest projection has SMU and Arizona St. in the top four. That's laughable. Ohio St. and Georgia would clobber both those teams by 30 points or more. Bama and ND would likely do the same.

Just looked at latest CFB rankings: SMU in at 8, right now they are the best on paper in the ACC, so ok. Not sure I agree with a 3 loss Bama over Ole Miss and South Carolina with the way all 3 are playing. If you put them head to head, I think you could get a different winner everytime. That is a tough nut for South Carolina who is arguably playing the best of the 3 right now. I also HATE Miami at 12 over both Ole Miss and South Carolina. Both of those teams would wax Miami into oblivion. Different speed of football.

If I am being honest, there is a lot of sloppiness and mediocre play from Numbers 1 thru 15 plus this year. I think the eventual best team will be in the top 12, but no real dominance from my end. I think Texas has a crap ton of talent, but look at Ewers, has not played the same since the dismantling of Michigan. Look at Michigan, ton of talent on the field that finally showed up defensively against Ohio State, only took 12 games (I think Michigan is better than their ranking and record, they won the title last year). Is Penn State really good or are they just good at playing sloppy, therefore opponent plays sloppy and they pull it out? Alabama - mediocrity personified. Tennessee - uh, how have they not lost more games? See what I mean, you can pick apart every team this year. I don't remember doing that when Darth Sabin was rolling the tide at Alabama!

I don't disagree that there are some who really just don't belong regardless of record, but what are you going to do?
