NCAA Football 2024 (3 Viewers)

Playoff rankings are out. Forget the Longhorns for a moment, their loss to Florida is really what is hurting the most. That said, legit 2 teams will make it who will be cannon fodder for Round 1. Next issue - what happens if Indiana gets destroyed by tOSU? What happens if Alabama gets destroyed by Georgia? (or even vice versa)? Is the committee all of a sudden going to say the conference championship games don't mean anything? What happens if Texas Tech loses? Can you believe Duke or VA is actually going to get in? Holy crap, what a crapshow. I can make a myriad of arguments regarding Texas and other teams that deserve to be there more than what will end up there. This system is flawed. Final question, if going purely on records, shouldn't Miami be in Notre Dame's place.....................Miami beat Notre Dame. Seriously, what a farce.

Truthfully, for me Texas screwed up and only played well in the "big" games. The loss to Florida is the death knell. Texas outgained Ohio St. but Ohio St played a calm controlled game, they won. Texas gave Georgia a run to the early 4th, then a myriad of mistakes and great plays by Georgia ruled the day, again a super good team. Texas beat 3 top 10 (at the time) teams in fairly convincing fashion in all 3 games. BUT, they shot themselves in the foot in a literal implosion to Florida, a sub par team with decent talent by 8 pts. Again, I am making the case for Texas, but there are other 3 loss teams that are better than the top 12 and 2 conf champs. Mother of God, Virginia or Duke and Tulane will make the playoff this year, what is wrong with that picture??????????????
Sarkisian has said that in order to improve their playoff chances Texas will look to schedule less competitive non-conference opponents.

There are 2 huge problems with that.

First UT’s schedule is set through 2029.

Second whoever you schedule for 2030 might seem weak now, but in 4-5 years they might be juggernauts.

For example, back in 2018 when Texas scheduled their games against Ohio State the Buckeyes were mediocre at best.

USC finally had a #1 recruiting class. Not sure what the issue has been over the last several years. When they get pounded by teams like Oregon, half the players on the Ducks are from California. No excuse to allow that. Apparently USC figured out the NIL and other issues. Hopefully a good sign.

Of course the only issue is how many of them stay through their commitment. Unbelievable how the portal and NIL has made this a mess. I saw where a number of Ole Miss recruits are now LSU commits. Crappy all the way around.

The bottom line with all of this is these kids are no longer student athletes. They are minor league ball players auctioning themselves off to the highest bidder. As a fan, it sucks but the players are generating a ton of revenue so allowing them to make money is just.

IMO, honestly why should Kiffin stay at Ole Miss? The “Boosters” would want his rear end gone the minute they thought they could do better. There is no honor from any of the parties involved in any of this. It is all transactional.

Winning is the only thing that matters at all levels to the people in this shatshow.

True words in the end. Kiffin has to look out for number one in this environment. If he doesn't the old adage is that no one else will. I do think the timing thoroughly sucks.

History repeats itself at Ole Miss. In 1998, Tommy Tuberville said "They'll have to carry me out of here in a pine box", in reference to not leaving to coach at another school. Less than a week later, it was announced that he was departing for Auburn. He left Ole Miss before their bowl game and took practically the whole staff with him.

The timing is terrible, how many coaches will he take and how many players will transfer to LSU, he's going to gut the program.

That LSU/Ole Miss game next year ought to be something.

My predicts:

Ohio St. 27 Indiana 10 - Another pretender bites the dust.

Georgia 31 Bama 23 - Unfair to have to beat a good team twice. No NC at the end of the rainbow, though, for the Dawgs.

Duke 30 UVA 27 - The Blue Devils shock the world but no one cares.

Texas Tech 38 BYU 10 - TT is the dark horse to steal a NC from Ohio St or Georgia.

The saddest part is that none of this has anything to do with college or education.

College sports used to represent a connection to a school and its history. Choosing to an attend particular college as a scholar athlete was about graduating and weaving yourself into its fabric.

Greed took that all away.

Father time has company in the clubhouse, greed is also undefeated, and sad to say it is also the G.O.A.T.

Even with their loss, I still think that Ohio State is the favorite.
They were due for a loss but still should have won that game. Maybe a wake up call like the loss to Michigan last year. With Ohio State's defense, they can beat anyone in the playoffs. Georgia and Ohio St are head and shoulders better than anyone else. Texas Tech might be able to upset them if they play a perfect game but I doubt it.

Georgia looks to be playing very well. Ohio State came out flat and got beat. They should not have lost and I am not even sure how close that game should have been. BTW, James Madison has a shot at making the playoff......................WTF is wrong with that picture.

Go Ole Miss. That is who I am pulling for, that team doesn't deserve the latest crapshow and circus they are a part of.

No words. Broken system. James Madison and Tulane and a 3 loss Alabama team. If I am notre Dame I am fuming. Alabama got beat badly by Georgia, that game was never in question. If I am Duke why am I out after winning my conference and the acc is weak but stronger than jmu and Tulane.

Texas AM got a good draw.

ND has played the system for years. So I won't shed any tears for them. Particularly after they said they are taking their ball and going home with no bowl game. Good riddance to them.

Wouldn't expect a USC guy to shed a tear for ND anyhow. Big ND fan here. Yes, Im ticked they didnt make it. Yes, Im mad Bama got in over them. Yes, its ridiculous a James Madison and Tulane team are in. But you know what, if ND would have just handled business with Miami or even A&M they would have never been in this predicament to begin. It is what it is and there's no point in complaining about it. Just have to look to next year when we get to beat USC again 😉

So ND and Vanderbilt are out, two tomato cans in Tulane and JMU get it; what a broken system.

Good for ND telling the NCAA to stuff it and not go to a bowl.

It should be the 12 best teams that get in, Alabama should not be punished for playing in a conference Championship game, they beat Georgia in Georgia once already, asking them to do it twice was a tall order.
