Need Help Identifying Set(s) (1 Viewer)

Martyn,

Thanks for the help - you are a walking Trophy encyclopedia:) . Looks like I will have to search for that missing officer and the bucket. Part of the fun and sometimes frustration with collecting Trophy is the uncertainty of the composition of some of his sets. The more popularly produced sets were reissued over the years with some changes in their composition, but he kept the same set number (sometimes with the addition of a letter "A" to the set number to differentiate it from an earlier version). For example, I have at least three different versions of the Boxer Rebellion Dragon Gun which are the result of him updating the set through the years. On top of that, he also made special sets for a number of dealers and collectors. So for those wanting to make a catalogue, it would be yeoman's task, but well worth the effort. I think you are up to the task and second the motion - all those in favor...:D

All the best,
Lawrence

Second that motion. Martyn, in all seriousness, between you, Damian, Lawrence (by the way, nice to see you posting, I hope to call you this week!) and a few others (me for a few sets), we could put together a nice Trophy book. ID'ing pieces is a monumental task as it seems the sets changed greatly over the years.

Thanks for the vote of confidence TD;)

Talk about a book, back in the "old days" I would have settled for a brochure with pictures:D

Cheers

Martyn:)

It would be a good book.
If we ask Mike Laeding we could use a lot of his pictures.
He is a professional photographer and he took pictures of many Trophy sets over the years.

It would be most gracious if the authors of the proposed Trophy of Wales book invite the "Welsh Wizard" Mr. Len Taylor to write the Foreword and perhaps an opening chapter on the History of Trophy.

Just a thought.

I think this is the ROYAL WELCH FUSILIERS from the BOXER REBELLION series

Original set#EQ44/C later changed to set#BEQ44

Martyn,
Thanks for the help. Guessed it was from the Boxer era as the figures had gray bases, but did not know the regiment. Info also helped clear up another single figure I had, but not sure of - a casualty figure that belonged to set FW1 for the Boxer series. Do you know if Trophy made any other set with the RWF for the Boxer series? Thanks again for all the help. All the best, Lawrence

BS22A is a set of the RWF with one officer and five enlisted advancing, if I remember correctly.

Martyn,
Thanks for the info. Which catalogue did you find this in? Do you have a complete list of what Trophy produced for the Boxer series? Thanks. Lawrence

Dave,
Thanks for the info. I could not find any mention of BS22A or of the RWF in any of the Trophy catalogues I have. Do you collect the Boxer series?
All the best, Lawrence

Yes, Lawrence, I do. I have BS22A, but it is packed up right now. I'd have to check the contents of the box to be sure about the poses, though. The only list I have is from the Trophy of Texas website, plus my handwritten addenda.

Dave,
Is this the set? As I don't have a box and the composition differs from any of the list provided by Martyn, I am guessing this may be it, but it differs from your recollection of the set's composition as well.

Lawrence,

My BS22 set consists of an officer and five enlisted men charging. I guess I should amend the list next time around.
