New Infraction System (1 Viewer)

I've a question to ask and would like answered. If I send a PM or Email to a moderator complaining about post that I don't like is it an automatic delete my the moderator of the post I've complained about without it being reviewed by all of the moderators. As the one who posted it can I receive a copy of it highlighting the infactions which the new infraction system determine it's cause to be deleted........The Lt.

If you find a post objectionable you need to use the report a post icon rather than send a PM or email to a moderator. Using the 'report a post' automatically sends an email to all moderators with your message along with a link to the post in question. We do not send a copy of the post to the person reporting it but usually a moderator will send a followup note letting the person know what, if any action has been taken.
A post is never automatically deleted solely because someone reported it but is reviewed by someone from the moderation council (or more than one depending on the situation) and if it is deemed inappropriate action will be taken.
Regards,

it only shows up while the infraction is active so once the infraction expires the tab disappears.

I beg to differ. All mine are still visible on the tab - which is still there - despite the fact that when I click on the tab - it tells me all my infractions have expired....?????

I did a little investigative reporting and you are correct Harry. This hasn't really come up before so I didn't realize it keeps track of your infraction history for you.
If you have ever been given an infraction the tab will be visible to you (and the moderators) with the information about each infraction including the date the infraction expired. This information is not displayed to other members.

Thank you Shannon but is the one who made the post given the reason for it being deleted when ask for and why. Also will he be getting a copy of the post highlighting the infactions if ask for. By the way I won't be responding to your answer for I know it'll answer my questions. Thanks again....The Lt.

Hi Lt.
Sorry for the slow reply, I didn't realize you'd asked a followup question and someone just made me aware of it.
If a person is given an infraction they are sent a message about it and told what the issue was and what impact the infraction will have on them.

If a post is reported and the moderation council needs time to review the situation, sometimes a post will be soft-deleted in the meantime.
After review by the council, depending on the outcome, one of the following would most likely occur:
1) the poster might be given the opportunity to make a revision to the post, removing the offending statement and the post reinstated (in this case they would be told what the problem with the post is and given a copy of the post so they can revise it if they choose do so),
2) the post might be deleted altogether (with a warning or infraction given and an explanation sent along with the infraction notice)
3) if the council doesn't see an issue with it the post would be reinstated in its original form. In this case the poster might not be contacted because it is found that there was no issue with the post.

Hope that answers your questions!
Regards,

I knew when you had a chance to you'd reply Shannon and would answer my questions. Thank you for thanking the time from your busy scheduled to do so.....Joe

Is it an infraction when individuals post dio pics in the manufacturer's section? Isnt this the same as threadjacking? Sectionjacking maybe? If you went to the trouble of creating sections for topics why wouldnt all posts on that subject go there? Dont get me wrong if you are trying to show a manufacturers piece and it happens to be in a dio then I can see why youd place your thread in the manufacturers section. But when you say "Hey check out my new dio" why would you not just place that thread where it belongs.....in the Dio Section?

I don't know mate, maybe we should make walking on the grass an infraction.;) There are likely many thousand posts here that meet your description. Signs, signs every where a sign. Do this, don't do that, can' you read the sign?:D

I should also mention that I raise this issue not because I think ill of the individuals that place Dio pics in the manufacturers section. I rasie this because I love Dio pics and I have learned that I missed many because they were not posted in the section that was created for them. :)

I suppose it makes sense to put a personal dio in the manufacturer section if it is specific to that manufacturer but yes, we did create the dio area for dio display and discussion. You'll just have to keep tabs on both areas Warbuff so you don't miss anything ;).

I usually put my photo-dioramas in the manufacturers sections as do others because collectors of those companies who visit the manufacturer's threads enjoy seeing how others place the figures in settings and use them to tell stories. It provides for a wonderful exchange of ideas among those individuals and always a source of inspiration. Just check out the recent flurry of picture posts on the John Jenkins thread and see how we have been able to learn from one another. I would be saddened to see this become a form of infraction.

I agree....I'd hate to see it be an infraction but I also think it best if all the Dio pics were placed in the Dio section. I only collect KC so I'd prefer not to have to search all the manufacturer sections looking for Dio pics. I dont think that placing the pics in the Dio section would lesson any discussion of the postings and would make it easier for all to enjoy. I have totally missed all those pics that were in the JJ section........I guess its just me being lazy and not wanting to scan 30 different sections.

Or another idea would be to just do away with the dio section - then everyone can go to their favorite makers section to see those dios ! ;)

I actually thought the dio section was more of a "how to" thread and tech advice section - than just the "hey - look what I made" - I mean the thread intro talks about "the step by step approach ..." - turned me off and I just look in the JJD or K&C threads to see what folks have done. Or even General Toy Soldier Thread sometimes.

Well there is a Dio section in the "How to" area that talks about ideas on constructing them but the Dio section in the "Discussion" area has always been a place to post any and all Dio pics. Plus many Dio's have a lot of different manufacturer's products on them....so should those be posted in multilple areas for each manufacturer? To me its kinda like the suggestion thread....instead of having suggestions thrown out all over the place we put those in their own area. I dont know....again just me being lazy and not wanted to search through an endless amount of sections looking for Dio threads.

Isn't it a bit silly to nit-pick this thing to death until we have so many rules that you can't post anything without it being an infraction?

I think its safe to assume "thread jacking" is taking a thread in a completely different argumentative direction.........not posting a picture in a manufacters
section that happens to be a mini-diorama!

Gee whiz:eek:

Amen to that. :)

I'm with Randy on this and wouldn't want to penalize people when their heart is in the right place.

I used the New Posts option on the main menu bar, to scan through all new posts since my last visit. If you don't currently use it, I recommend it highly.

And once I've scanned through the list, if I haven't looked at every single post (sometimes it's just not possible, because of time), then I reset the list by clicking the link to the main forum page (the page showing the categories), and clicking the link at the bottom of the page "Mark all threads as read". That wipes the slate clean, so the next time I come in and go to New Posts, the list really is only "new posts".

Prost!
Brad

Good suggestion theBaron...I'll give it a try. Again was not looking to cause more rules...just thought it would be easier to find Dio's if people posted them in the given area. I wasnt trying to make a stink in any way. My apoligies for those of you who felt a need to throw your two cents in because you felt I was looking to impose some kind of new rule. Was not my intention.
