New Office Diorama... (2 Viewers)

The Magic Water was hardened this afternoon...good job there...thankfully there were no leaks...

but I wanted it a little deeper...so tonight I poured another layer on it...

sure enough...hahaha...I added too much and as liquid will always find the lowest spot...I had a small overflow on one end of the table...

I was already prepared for the worst with newspaper on my wooden floor...hahaha...I have made this mistake before...

it looks like a tablespoon or two leaked out...so I think I'm okay...as it has stopped leaking...it will harden by tomorrow afternoon so I think I'm out of the woods...the good thing is that I have some nice depth to the river now...

I'm going out of town til Sunday night...when I return I will start on the landscaping and groundwork Monday probably...

I'm pretty happy so far...as the leak has stopped...and the river looks pretty good...here's some pictures...

I did break a plank on the bridge and lowered it into the water...it's a nice touch...

that's it for now...

Mike,

A great thread! You are making a fine looking terrain. I really like the reflections on the water surface.

I put my flat base ground work in today...

I used Natural Sheet Moss...it's made by a company called Forrest Naturals...

it cost $4.99...Hobby Lobby sells it...

I ground it in a coffee grinder...

the Natural Sheet Moss comes in a 8 ounce bag and it says it cover 375 cubic inches...

after it is ground and fluffy...I think it covers about 1 million cubic inches...hahaha...

I used about 1/2 a bag to cover this entire table and still have about 1/2 of the original bag left...

I know this is not the most realistic product on the market...but I definitely wanted something soft and natural in color that I can stand my figures on and they wont fall over...

one of the MOST IMPORTANT THINGS to me...is that I use something that will allow me to conceal the bases when I take photos...see picture below...

I don't like the bases exposed so I ground a large container of this sheet moss to sprinkle over the bases...

it was adhered with white glue that I painted on liberally...I then sprinkled the ground sheet moss on it and patted it down...

it was originally brown/green...but this has been in my garage for over a year...so it's mostly brownish now...like a weathered dry grass...

I will let this sit overnight and try to get to work on the field rocks...wood and shrubs tomorrow...

here's some pics...that's all for now...

Mike
The evolution of your setup is really impressive.
Are your shrubs, rocks and other debris permanently attached ?

thanks you guys...I actually finally started back on this project today...I'm think I'm gonna leave the left side less cluttered of foliage and debris...so a structure can be used if necessary...I'm about finished...
