With a new year of collecting fast approaching, what will you guys be focusing on in the next twelve months, any expanding or narrowing of ranges you collect, or a more steady as she goes policy?. I will contiue on with my main WW2 ranges D Day, Bulge,Battle of Britain,Arnhem and North Africa. I think we will see plenty of releases for many different series next year, this should make for another good year to be collecting.

And for me it starts with the Grant:cool:. And for the first time ever I am creating a 'saving **nd' type of thing for the D Day releases in the Summer (a highlight of the collecting year for me) so I can purchase a large percentage of them in one go, have always wanted to do it but next year will be the first time as opposed to getting them one at a time. Still, thats a long way away yet so what if any plans have you got guys?.

Because of rising costs and falling income (a bad combo), I will be halting all collecting other than the WW1 aviation series started by JJD. I will make room for KC if they get into WW1 aviation. Other than that, I'm out, (with the possible exception of a Tiger tank or two:D).-- Al

I am seriously considering boxing it all up and putting it on the bay. Would probably focus solely on modern figures and Roman figures. Would probably consider selling my egyptians, awi and ww2 sets. This year has been a kick in the chops and I have really lost my enthusiasm for this hobby. Too many personal issues coupled with prices that imo are just way out of line (the hobby overall) and then the fallout of the Hack show. This isn't limited to toy soldiers for me either, other things I collect I am thinking of letting go.

I too have started collecting more of JJD.... love the French and Indian War....... I will still collect my K&C stuff but the WW2 is getting too much for me .......I will be patiently waiting for any Egyptians......if not hope to see some new Ancients some day???????? P.S.will always wait for any RAF !!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D

Will buy CS new King tiger range & will buy K&C Market Garden figures if they make any next year , but that will be it less any British armour made
On the downside the rising cost of the hobby is making me think about going back to 1/32 sale witch is better value for money :(

It looks like people are really rethinking their hobby given the current state of things. I am pursuing other hobbies more than before and hope to take the family to Italy next year, so I am going to cut back a little. I am also running out of display space without putting down a bunch on another case.

The things I have a hard time resisting right now, and where my focus lies, are WWII aviation and a few "special" WWII items that I really like such as the K&C Winter Tiger and the CS King Tiger. I certainly will build on my RAF dio if a firetruck, **el truck, and other goodies come along. I would love more D-Day action stuff. I also am stuck on the Britains Iron Brigade advancing at Gettysburg sets, which I will continue to buy, and I may get into the new First Legion Union cavalry figures. The higher costs are going to make me buy less and less though. I resisted buying many WWII vehicles I would have happily purhcased a year ago.

I would say there is a very good chance of that;)

For me, I have an austin, another sherman firefly and fob MP to pick up from somewhere in the new year!:D

Still playing catch up with some D-Day releases: piper, casualty, grenadier and monty!

Got winter motorcycle MP and artilleryman walking with shells from last year's wnter releases to get, as well as the new ambulance, truck, passengers, medic set and MP captured set to get...and the german sets: new boots, over there, and german with k ration box, 2 new winter signs, new french destroyed building and church ruin, and maybe the american kneeling fire team:eek::D

Also got some older sets to find: captured winter GIs, American supply depot, able mabel tractor:eek:

WSS German sets: panther, walking wounded, dead german!

And....any and all 2011 Market Garden sets to get!:D

Also have to gets lots of Build-a-rama scenic items for certain dioramas to get!

And a model of half of Arnhem bridge!
Will be some year!
Can't wait!:D

I'm relatively new in the TS world and only have been collecting K&C tanks and figures. I like to stay with WW2 D-day & BoB. For the New Year I've already pre-ordered the King Tiger & Paton Command Vehicle from CS as I find I like their products more and more in terms of price/quality. Budget is going to be tight next year so I'll be very selective before making any purchases. I'm still collecting 1/72 scale ww2 planes and modern Jet Fighters from Corgi & Dragon. The two companies make excellent diecast planes in this scale.

I think I may just have to pick up one of those John Jenkins planes now that I have taken another look at them!!

I'm going to finish up with retired Arnhem and call it a day.

For me its a combination of room, or lack of.:D

Production, as in over-production of.

And finally economy.....once again lack of.

You can now find most items on Ebay below original cost, so I guess the

cycle is complete.

My focus has already narrowed over the last year , so for me it will
be any vehicles I like in the K and C RAF series [ no other WW2 as I,ve decided not to collect it anymore and have sold off what I had ]
FL Gordon highlanders and Cuirrasiers and thats it for me at this point.

Will buy CS new King tiger range & will buy K&C Market Garden figures if they make any next year , but that will be it less ANY BRITISH ARMOUR MADE

I would say there is a very good chance of that;)

Rob

Is that for British paras or armour Rob :D
Like your idea of Monty ETO command truck ;)

for the new year I will have to make choices
but I'll definitely continue with the raf, d-day, arnhem and 8th army

As with most new year resolutions I think many will go out of the window as soon as the shops reopen and dispatches are up on the site

More steady as she goes for me, picking up assorted 1914 pieces, and maybe a 1917 piece here or there. Hoping 2011 is a good year for WW1, with releases comming hard and fast. Will be picking up at least one of the new Lighthorsemen, along with at least one more Turk. When the 1914 French in combat do arrive, all of my attention will be transferred to them, they just might be the first release I purchase every figure of. Was going to get one of the latest Bulge sets, but that might just have to wait, along with everything else if the French come out soon.

and i still need the luftwaffe field division sets. does that tell you how far behind i am. also the british dday sets. . for something new i will try and get the raupenschleper, a cs king tiger and of course the jagdtiger when it comes out. this past year a spent trying to find trophy sets, as for ww2 my favorite purchases were the maultier aa by kc, and the raf ambulance. i also love my figarti js-2 and 152 russian tanks. and i forgot that i did pick up kc's awi hessians, there great pieces, also the russian nap artillery set. i really do not collect those lines but the figures are gourgeous. i am getting back to buying what you like

Never, ever thought I would say this but what Currahee Chris and NJJA said I am in that mood also.
I too am loosing my enthusiasm for this hobby. The ever rising prices, the Hackensack Show fallout, lack of space and just WAY TO MUCH product. Simply impossible to keep up and when that happens I just want to say forget it!
I decided a few months ago I will only buy select K&C and T. Gunn, along with Jenkins WW1 planes, that,s it.
