What I tend to object to is the WWII crowd muscling in on an option that wasn't even provided in the original poll for what we would like to see FL offering us in future when it wasn't even included in the poll. The WWII groupies have enough opportunity to express their opinions on this forum without coming onto a poll that shouldn't concern them.

Interestly enough, I am quite sympathetic to your quest for less covered periods. I haven't voted yet but I am more inclined toward the Britain-Saxon-Viking or Spanish vs Moors periods than any others. Neither have been really done well and both offer colorful opportunities. Frankly, I am so committed to Napoleonics at the moment, I have relatively little appetite for another line at this point so maybe I should hope it is the ACW for Bob or Mongols for you.:D;) Either of you may be more likely to take advantage of it.:cool:

Yeah - you're absolutely correct in everything you've said on this thread and I'm completely 100% wrong in desperately wanting FL to "give us" more varied and colourful ranges that no-one else "gives us".
I look forward to the First Commissar announcing yet another D-Day, Bulge, Desert War or whatever Panzer or Sherman and can hardly wait not to buy it - even though 99% of the rest of the membership of this forum will be simply panting to make him rich.
I would point out however that this poll didn't even include WWII in the first place..!!

If you want to shut the debate down thats fine.But it would be appreciated if you could explain EXACTLY who your 'Blinkered Saving Private Ryan crowd' are that have apparently destroyed this thread?.Because as far as i can see only myself and Phantom Warrior have said we'd like FL to do more WW2.

That aside i would also point out two final points;

1.There is at the bottom of the Poll an 'other' option.
2.Matt himself has talked about doing British Commandos.

Right as i have apparently muscled in on a thread on which a collector of my era is clearly not welcome,i apologize to anyone else who has been so offended by my choice on this poll/thread.

Now, now mate, you are free to chose what you like in my poll.;):D I don't mind how much you all like WW II. I just noted that I did not think it qualified as a new range for these purposes.;)
 
I think it is very sour to read that an innocent thread has turned into an unnecessary war of words.

We are not in a Kindergarten here, are we?

Bottom line is that EVERYONE wants FL (or another manufacturer) do those items which APPEAL most to him.

Now for Rob (and others) this might be a new Sherman or British Commandos, for others it might be ACW for others it might be Vlad the Imperator or Mongols. Now what IS WRONG with that???

FL is doing Naps, WWII, Samurai IN MY OPINION far far better than anyone else before them. All of these areas have been and are covered by other manufacturers. So what then? Either you jump on FL's wagon and make room for their ranges or you mix FL with what you have. Not something what I would ever do but there you go. There are no other options!

ACW has been done and is done by many others - but I don't like how it is done as I see through FL how I would want it done and therefore I put in the poll "ACW". Is something wrong in there???

Maybe my English is not good enough and I don't understand all the subtilities expressed in the various posts but I definetely did and do not see any reason for arguing and for Rob to leave this thread.

Thanks guys,i have no wish to fall out with anyone on here including Harry who is a mate.I enjoy a bit of lively debate,but if others feel i should not have mentioned WW2 again i apologize.

Whatever FL decide to make next it is bound to contain their trademark realism,whichever era they go with.:)

Bill, I'd love to hear more about your relatedness to these people. It turns out my granny's sister had a long term relationship (40 plus years and never married) with a certain Mr. Russell Clark, who was a great, great, great grandson or something like that of Wm. Clark. Russ was a great guy....been deceased now for 5-10 years or so. :)

My mind is racing actually and I'm nose deep in all manner of research material........I just love so many periods I wish we could do them all.

I love this part - the research and planning - and right now I'm really savoring it. So you guys carry on the good fight - I'm off to bed with a stack of books and my imagination in overdrive....

We have a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition buried here in Sacramento County. His name was Alexander Hamilton Willard. For a potential new line, The expedition had their traveling clothes and dress uniforms for when they meeting new tribes. A lot of potential there.
 
I voted 'Other', as I'd like to see FL do Starship Troopers. How cool would that be? I don't think anyone else has done this line ever. How 'bout it Matt? It'll give you an excuse to watch the film again, for research material? :)
