Nothing ever retired,true collectors heaven!:)

Rob

Well, I’m not too sure it would be the dream of absolutely everybody Rob.
After all, certain speculative individuals appear to possess a simply bottomless supply of retired items that they're continually able to put on evil-bay at inflated prices in order to take advantage of the natural desire of genuine collectors to own somewhat poorly manufactured retired items....or just perhaps, it's really a bottomless supply that's not actually, and strictly speaking, owned, by such speculating parriahs?

While I agree with you to a certain extent Damian, I tend to enjoy looking in on these polls. They can attract some very unrealistic responses, indeed extremly odd ones, at times.
:confused::confused:

PS. I hope you escaped from your recent excursion to the "Misty West" with your wallet relatively unscathed from the attentions of the native population.
:)

Regards
Harry

To the contrary Harry old man I came away with my wallet rather fattish. Courtesy of the NHS.
Weather wasn't too bad either just rained a lot each morning.

Glad to hear that mate. You were a bit too close to Liverpool, with all that implies for your continuing financial well-being, and I was in fact - somewhat concerned.

Good thought, that may be one reason K&C went with Crusaders instead of Late middle Age. Though, I am partial to the 1400 - 1500c elaborate armor and weapontry. How about removable helmets or visors that raise like they did on some Aeroart figures? FL did one NAP with a removable cape. If not, a fully helmet figure might cost a little less since it will be easier to paint. Also, I believe through my historical readings that full helmets (with full plate armor) were the exception, not the rule, during the 100 year war due to their high cost and weight. So, any depiction of a 1400's battle will only have a few figures with their faces completely covered.

Ken
That is a fair point Ken. I must confess having a preference for the leather, mail and bronze armor and helmets of the 6th and 7th Centuries, as described in wonderful detail in Benard Cornwell's excellent Warlord Trilogy. Removable helmets and raising visors would indeed be quite cool but of course add to the cost of the figures. If they did the 14th Century with those, it would become very tempting.;)

Since some votes have come in I thought I would update the expanded choice part of the poll. As before, I ordered these based on the un-weighted choices and the order would change a bit using the weighted (3 for 1st, 2 for 2nd 1 for 3rd) version. Reading from left, the numbers represent: number of 1sts, 2nds, 3rds, sum and weighted sum.

Anglo Zulu War 7, 1, 0, 8, 23
American Civil War 6, 1, 0, 7, 20
Reconquista: Spain vs. the Moors, Charlemagne, El Cid 2, 3, 1, 6, 13
French and Indian Wars 4, 0, 1, 5, 13
Boxer Rebellion 4, 0, 0, 4, 12
WW I 3, 1, 0, 4, 11
Crusades 3, 1, 0, 4, 11
Ancient Roman: Gallic, Britain, Parthian, Roman Civil Wars 2, 1, 1, 4, 9
Hundred Years War 1, 1, 2, 4, 7
Korea 3, 0, 0, 3, 9
Lewis / Clark 2, 0, 1, 3, 8
Early Britain: Saxon, Viking, Britains 1, 2, 0, 3, 7
Macedonian / Trojan 1, 2, 0, 3, 7
Mongolian Conquests 2, 0, 1, 3, 7
Thirty Years War: Musketeers etc 2, 0, 1, 3, 8
Alexander's Conquests 2, 0, 0, 2, 6
Ancient Rome: Punic, Macedonian 2, 0, 0, 2, 6
American Revolutionary War 2, 0, 0, 2, 6
Sudan 1, 0, 0, 1, 2, 5
Ancient Greece: Persian or Pelopennesian 1, 0, 0, 1, 3
Franco Prussian 1870 1, 0, 0, 1, 3
Arab / Israeli 1, 0, 0, 1, 3
Starship Troopers 1, 0, 0, 1, 3
Boer War 0, 1, 0, 1, 2
Seminole Wars 0, 0, 2, 2, 2
Apache 1870 0, 1, 1, 2

The results here changed a little. Most notably the Zulu contigent finally appeared in force to wrest 1st place from the ACW. much speak for themselves. The Spanish / Moorish Wars still did well (3nd un-weighted, Tied for 3rd weighted). If the two Roman periods were added they would have been tied for 3rd.

I omitted the votes for WWII since that is already being done by FL. Adding it here would be like adding the Peninsula for me. Anyway, this is the rest of the story to date so Matt is again free to do whatever he wants.

Is it? You never know Harry, it could be a 1/27th rider on a 1/32nd horse. Stranger things have happened.

Speaking of strange - I can't wait to see those 1:35/32 scale Eastern Front Germans with their 1/30 scale StuG  :D

The Zuluians are taking over this thread. Is there no stopping them!:D:D:D

If it is not too late to add a second place choice, I'd like to put in a vote for the Sudan please. :)

I've already voted on this poll Dave, but I completely agree with you and Jeff. I reckon a Sudan (or a NWF) range done by FL would be simply awesome.

Cheers

If I may, I'd like to add my third and final vote in this poll. Would really love to see a "Great Game", "Man Who Would be King", struggle for control of Central Asia range by FL.

MD

That would be good Dave.It could be part of a NWF range.

Napoleon in Egypt..........
Mamelukes
Colorful Demi-Brigades
French mounted on camels
Egyptian monuments

What period would that represent?

Sorry Bill. This period of history covers most of the 19th Century I suppose. Things began to heat up in the early 1800's (I believe Alexander Burnes was in Bokhara in the 1830's or 1840's) and ended in 1907 with an Anglo-Russian pact or truce of sorts. Also covers a lot of ground from Persia through Central Asia, Afghanistan and as far as Tibet and Mongolia as I recall. Loads of colorful characters and exotic locations. Hope that answers your question.

Thanks Dave. Were you thinking of Daniel and Peachy and the colonial British as part of that then? Pity they don't make movies like that any more.
