Nfl 2012 season!!!! (4 Viewers)

I can't believe that he's given up being a fan but he is a super fan, who lives and breathes Jets, and that second quarter may have just been too much for him, particularly Sanchez running into his own man. That play may haunt Sanchez forever.

Fear not, Fireman Ed, aka "Superfan" has signed up again for twitter.

Pretty interesting article about it; come to find out Superfan has been a fan of the Jets since................................1975?

Really?

What a fraud.

Could somebody explain the New York Giants to me? They look like crap against a mediocre Bengals team, then come out and hang 31 points and a 21 point lead on the Packers in the first half tonight. I just don't know how this team does it.

If this score holds up and I have no doubt that it will, the Giants this year have demolished the two teams everyone has been pointing to as the two best in the NFC, which means............................................................................................................................................................................................wait for it...........................................................................................................................................that makes the Giants the best team in the NFC, paving the way for a Ravens/Giants Super Bowl.

Great; watching that will be like trying to decide who I want to win on the Eastern Front, the Germans or the Russians.

Or better yet, how about a Giants/Broncos Super Bowl, the battle of the Mannings.

How wonderful.

4th and 29, he needs to get to the 34, his knees are clearly down at the 35 1/2, they give him the 33 1/2, then review it, then move it back half a foot and he still gets the first down.

You're down when you knee hits the ground.

Unreal.

Bet your 401k on the Ravens this year, they are destiny's darlings for sure.

Winning field goal vs the Patriots that was wide right.

Ben's having an MVP type year, then gets hurt, missing both Ravens games in the process.

First downs that aren't that lead to the tying field goal vs the Chargers, then the win in overtime.

George,
I have to admit sometimes luck rules the roost so to speak and the Ravens definitely have it this year. The Chargers are an inept football team, they had a number of chances to put the Ravens away.

Talk about frustrating, how about turning the ball over 8, yes you read that 8 times and still have at least 2 chances to beat the Browns. The STeelers just have NO luck this year, their Defense is finally playing and the whole house of cards is falling down. This is just unreal, now Woodley may be out against the Ravens too. Might as well just not show up next week as we can't even field a team to play for pride. What a joke. The Ravens may very well be the better team and they will have the wins to prove it, but crap, I would at least like to know as a Steeler fan (with a full team) if we could beat the Ravens. I almost feel like if we win, its a miracle and the Ravens will have to have fallen asleep. We are only in these games lately on pure defensive talent and schemes alone, the Offense has mentally checked out since Ben got hurt (Brown too).

Yes, the Chargers are totally inept. Watching the replay of the 4th and two miles play, Rice is basically uncovered, several Chargers had a shot to stop him, but took HORRIBLE tackling angles, he blew right by them, then the safety is in position to stop him, but Boldin throws a block in the back and the midget squirts between two other defenders and gets the first down.

And sorry, but Flacco is a bonehead; 4th down and he needs 29, so what does he do, he has a brain fart and checks down to Rice, did he seriously think he was going to rip off a 29 yard run there, what is he thinking checking down to Rice coming out of the backfield on that play instead of doing what all NFL QB's do these days, heave the ball downfield and get a penalty flag thrown, automatic first down.

He has the football IQ of a ripe summer squash.

Don't get ahead of yourself George. The Giants need to win next week against the Red Skins before they can be pretty much assured of a playoff spot. And in the playoffs, its all about whose playing hot. The 49ers look pretty hot with that new QB, and when Cutler is healthy the Bears look pretty hot as well. The Giants are too inconsistent for me to get excited just yet . . . :wink2:

The Giants have proved this year they can hang with and beat anybody when they want to, the Steelers being the only exception.

We'll see what happens when they play the Ravens later this year.

Plus they know they can do it, they've turned it on at the right time twice now, who's to say they can't do it again.

I wouldn't bet against them.

Bottom line is their front four is unreal, having a great defensive line covers up a lot of weaknesses in the back 7.

They've beaten two very good NFC teams and Atlanta doesn't scare me one bit, they shouldn't scare the Giants either.

As far as the Patriots, they've never won to a Super Bowl when they weren't either the #1 or #2 seed and I just don't see that happening this year, the Raven and Texans keep finding new and inventive ways to win and stay ahead of them, their only shot is to run the table, thus beating Houston and hope/pray Houston somehow loses another game so they both end up with 13-3 records, not to mention the Ravens would have to lose twice in order for the Patriots to finish #1.

If they end up as the #3 seed, they'd have to go to and win at Baltimore, then at Houston, can't see that happening, too tall an order.

Well I'm hoping the Ravens are the Russians:).. and as for the lucky Ravens, we may not look as pretty as the Pats/Texans but hey if you think I'm going to complain about being 9-2 you'd be sadly mistaken, with all the injuries this team has played through and winning the last 3 road games in a row, I'll take it, there are no gimme's in this league, and usually you have to steal one or two games in the last minute of a game, still 5 tough games to go, just glad to be playing 3 out of 5 at home...Sammy

George, ask my wife what she feels I think of Flacco's football IQ. :rolleyes2: I was screaming bloody murder when he checked off to Rice. I thought the game was done and was reaching for the remote even as Rice kept running. Even though the play resulted in the 1st down and made all concerned look like geniuses, that play fails 99.9% of the time. No way that ball shouldn't have been thrown deep. But as Sammy notes, I'm not going to complain about a win.:wink2: -- Al

Your wife is one smart lady and she has good taste too.....;)..

That was a boneheaded decision, but it worked with a lot of help from the refs, so there you go.

In their last two games, the Ravens have scored exactly one offensive touchdown and are 2-0.

Whatever.

I had to post this:)!!! as Flacco stated almost every Charger defender dropped off into deep coverage, no one was opened and if he tried to force it long more then likely it would have been intercepted, so he saw Rice and a wide open field, Rice did the rest, some call it bad tackling?? Rice ran through 3 tackles to get that first down, sounds more like good running then bad tackling, but I guess it comes down to what side of the fence you are on sort of speak...Sammy

What ever one thinks of the play, good or bad, it was a remarkable achievement in an all but hopeless situation. Maybe not of Doug Flutie proportions in terms of results or importance, but it was a game changer, literally. And as was pointed out several times, it doesn't hurt to have a bit of luck on your side now and then. The Ravens have had it go against them on occasion, so karma evens out. One might even be tempted to say 'thank you' to Ray Rice and his open field running. :wink2: -- Al

Let's not count the Falcons out just yet, shall we? You don't get to 10 and 1 by chance or luck in the NFL. ^&grin.

Besides, we have to get through the SEC championship game, pitting #1 vs. #3, before the birds get on most peoples radar down here. Shoot, not to mention a good buddy has his AAAA team in the quarter finals of the high school playoffs. Once all that is done we will start focusing on the Falcons!

I don't believe that anything is too tall an order for a team with Belichick as the coach and Tom Brady as the QB. The Giants have gone on the road and won in the playoffs to reach the Superbowl on two prior occasions, and I am the first to admit that as much as I love Eli Manning, he is not even close to as great as Tom Brady overall. I would not be in any way surprised to see any of the following 4 AFC Teams in the Superbowl: Patriots, Ravens, Texans or Broncos.

On the other hand, it would not surprise me to see the 49ers, Bears, Packers, Giants or Atlanta represent the NFC in the Superbowl.

Its all a question of which of these teams is healthy and playing hot down the stretch. The Patriots have only been to what, 5 Superbowls in the last 12 years, and won 3? And you don't think they can make it there this year? To quote the guys on the ESPN pre-game show, "come on, man!"

Louis,
Understand what you are saying, just a bit frustrating watching how the Ravens and Texans, the two teams the Patriots are chasing, won games the past two weeks.

If things remain the same as they are now, they'd get the #3 seed, have one home playoff game then have to go on the road to Baltimore and possibly Houston to get to the Super Bowl.

IF they go through both of those teams on the road and go on to win the Super Bowl, it woudl be epic.

EPIC.

George u must have faith in Brady and the boys
They got there last year with worse defence in the league

Believe me, George, I understand your frustration. The teams chasing Atlanta have to feel the same way after they have managed to win game after game despite being outplayed over the last few weeks. But in the end, over the last few years, the hot team has generally prevailed in the playoffs, despite being on the road. The Giants did it in 2007 and 2011. The Packers did it in 2010. Your Patriots could do it this year, as could Denver, my Giants, or whichever of the Packers or Bears don't win the Division. I think that early in this thread I picked the 49ers to win the NFC Championship and play the winner of the Ravens versus the Patriots in the Superbowl, and I think there is a good chance it could play out this way. I think I have more confidence in your team this year than you do.

I was just reading an ESPN article that had some interesting facts. The Ravens conversion was the longest 4th down conversion in the NFL since 2001 when the Colts converted a 4th and 34. Overall, going on history, a team might expect to convert a 4th and 29 (or longer) almost 10% of the time. That is a pretty high average and surprises me quite a bit. On a similar story line, sports talk shows are still lighting up Flacco for dumping off to Rice instead of throwing downfield. No percentages were given for picking up 28 of the 29 yards by running on the ground.:wink2::rolleyes2: -- Al

When the Falcons beat NO last night they also broke the TD pass streak that Brees had set earlier this season. Brees surpassed Johnny U's record of 47 straight games with a TD pass and ran the record to 54 games before Atlanta stopped him. I think Tom Brady is next up with a current streak of 43 games. -- Al

The biggest regular season game of the year for me in any sports...Steelers visit the Ravens!! as usual I'm sure it will be a 3 point win for one team, plus the injuries on both sides will be a factor, Steelers getting healthier then they were a few weeks ago but still without Ben R., Ravens lose another linebacker in Ellerbe, Lewis replacement and the usual cast of players still out, but either way it will be a tough/hard hitting game as always, just hope M&T stadium gives the Ravens a edge this Sunday for one more win...Sammy

Sammy, Tom, here we go. 13 all in the 3rd quarter. Defense rules and it is a typical Ravens-Steelers fist fight.:wink2: -- Al
