Memo to everyone watching Monday Night Football (all 4 people in the country) -

I apologize for the pathetic display that you are being subjected to. The Home Shopping Network has a much more compelling show on right now, I suggest you change the channel.

Pete the Vikings Fan

It's a bad display all around. Hard to believe the Giants won the SB two years ago and the Vikes were in the playoffs last year.

Seems the Giants got lucky by getting their first win here. The Vikings did nothing but run back a kick off for their only touch down. Being a Dallas fan 4-3 I would be surprised if they win next week as they have a history on
the road of being a 50/50 team .

Incredible isn't it?

No worries Giants fans, I'm sure now they'll rip of 5 in a row and get to 6-6 and somehow, someway find a way to win that putrid division at say 8-8 as the continue their march towards a home Super Bowl.

It's what they do.

Trust me on this one, I've seen this movie before.

I'm hard pressed to see how the Giants will win a handful of games this year and, frankly, they may be better off having a bad season and getting a good draft position. After last night's performance, I'm beginning to wonder if a coaching change is needed. Something has to happen because they were just awful.

I'm just waiting for the Giants to get on one of their classic late season rolls and end up winning 9 out of their last 10 games so Louis can write one of his War and Peace length posts telling us how he predicts if they win their first playoff game, they're going to win the Super Bowl.

This is sort of like being alive in July of 1863 and predicting that if Lee orders Picketts Charge, the south will lose the war.

There is one common ingredient that is missing this year from 3 of the 5 Giants trips to the Super Bowl however, so I think they are doomed.

The lone highlight from that game was Jared Allen sacking Manning literally through the offensive lineman that was blocking him.

I just heard that Brett Favre, who is only 44 years old, has announced that he is suffering from serious memory loss. I think this disclosure will have serious repurcussions but I'm sure the NFL will run and try to hide from this or otherwise try to stonewall it, as they generally do with everything that may affect the bottom line.

I wouldn't worry about it George. This year you were completely correct in your preseason assessment, and I was completely wrong. I really believed that the NFC East was going to be a strong Division, and instead it looks like the NFC West of 3 years ago. I thought the Giants and Redskins would both have 9-10 wins, and it looks like neither will even get to 8 wins (I doubt the Giants will win more than 3-4, as bad as they looked against the Vikings).

I thought the AFC East was going to be a pushover for your Patriots, who would run away with the Division while the remainder of the teams had under .500 records. It looks like all 4 teams in the AFC East have a legitimate shot at going .500 or better, and while the Patriots will still win the division, they will not do so in a walkover.

This year my assessments of both Eastern Divisions was way off.

NOT surprising.....Favre spent most of his career on pain killers like oxycodone leading to addiction problems....I think Favre stayed in the NFL "too Long" which can result in long term chronic injury....There is a big difference in getting hit hard as 25-33 yr old as opposed to continuing to play QB past 35 years old. Very risky.... if you take a big hit... you less likely to recover completely...Unless you are a field goal kicker, playing past 35-38 years of age is not adviseable....It is a violent game....If you stay in....you take your chances.

Second day in a row that my heavily underdog team has fought the favorite to a standoff at the half. Redskins are tied with Denver 7-7.{eek3} Never would have bet this. Now, if only the Redskins can make it stick in the 2nd half. Asking a lot against Manning, but if we can keep him off the field... -- Al

Well, I have to give credit where credit is due when it comes to the Boston newspaper sportswriters.

Several stories this week in the papers about how Brady is clearly on the decline, the worm has turned in the AFCE, the Jets are on the rise, they've finally found a QB in Geno Smith, sadly the end of an era in New England has begun.

So this week, Patriots outscore the Dolphins 24-0 to win going away 27-17 and in Cincinnati, the Bengals led the Jets at halftime 28-6; first play of the second half, Geno throws a PIC 6, 35-6 Bengals.

So far this year for the Jets, it's win loss, win loss, win loss, win, now down 35-6; looks to me like they are ready to take over the AFCE for sure.

Yep, those writers really called this one.......................:rolleyes2:.

Brady as a QB is getting up there in age but still excellent if he can avoid injury.... He just needs some decent receivers....it really has limited his effectiveness....The Pats getting rid of Welker was a major mistake.....also Pats have no significant running game....Peyton Manning and Welker are "Like Clockwork"....as was Brady to Welker.....The Jets are still a long way off with a rookie at QB......maybe in 3-4 more years but not now, that's for sure.....The Giants now have 2 wins....Yippee-Skippy...No running game there either makes Eli less effective.....Giant Defense is also not having a good year..... Coughlin is likely to be made the scapegoat by seasons end.

Another PIC 6 by Geno, 49-9, the human white flag, aka, Simms, now in for the Jets.

WFAN is going to be awesome tomorrow.

Smith/Manning have now combined for 28 INT's this year.

Good God.

Oh well, THAT plan didn't work out so well. Final score is about what I expected. At least Manning managed to double his season interception total against the fierce Redskin secondary.:rolleyes2: Redskins were just plain pitiful in the 2nd half. Next. -- Al

It's not that the Jets played badly; they did; but that the Bengals, along with the Chiefs and the Broncos, is one of the better teams.

You seem unduly concerned with what the NY teams are doing but picture this George, the Giants are only two games back of the division lead. That will warm your cockle shells won't it :wink2:

So this week I can’t say I learned anything new, but many of my beliefs were reinforced. Peyton Manning and Drew Brees are really good and so is Calvin Johnson. Jacksonville is horrible and so is Tampa Bay. The end.

In reference to my last post here.... #323 the Cowboys did exactly what I thought they would. Lose in the end ! A game they had in the bag !!!

And concerning this comment; keep in mind the Boston media continually throws anything and everything New York in our faces, they remind us constantly about the whole Boston/NY thing.

Not to mention, the two worst loses in Patriots history come courtesy of the Giants and the three worst in Red Sox history come courtesy of the Mets and Yankees (1986, 1978, 2003). The Yankees are our biggest baseball rival, the Jets our biggest football rival.

In the 1970's, the Knicks and Rangers were the two biggest rivals of the Celtics and Bruins; they both went in the toilet for the most part since, but again, Boston writers constantly remind us of the rivalries, so there you go........................
