Hernandez charged with murder, bail denied.

Bizarre story. He should have called Ray Lewis for better cover up tips. Sounds like he is toast. Or as Johnnie Cochran might have said "if the bubble gum was chewed, he is screwed.'"

He may be involved with two other murders. What an idiot. Rich at 23 and going to jail, probably for life.

The NFL has a big problem on its hands: young men who live fast and are violent, the essence of the sport.

Well training camp has opened and already, players are dropping like flies.

Koppen, starting center for Denver, tears ACL, out for the year.

Pitta, starting TE for the world champion Ravens, dislocates his hip, out for the year.

That's rough, hope he's ok, not an easy thing to come back from, hope it's not a career ender.

Rough losses already. Saw where the eagles lost WR Maclin to an ACL also. Training camp is a might rough. -- Al

Not a good weekend for my baltimore teams at all:(...Pitta is done for the year and the Sox take 2 of 3 from my O's:(...the only ray of light is it's still time left to hopefully pick up a tight end, and the O's have two months of ball left...Sammy

Caught about 12 seconds of the HOF game tonight; good God are those new Dolphin uniforms awful, if they play as bad as those things look, they are in deep trouble this year, the color is terrible.

And the new logo is beyond awful, whatever clambrain marketing guru came up with that mess of a new combination should be canned................

Read this morning about the passing of Art Donovan. He was an old-school character. Lot of great stories from his days with the Colts.

I loved watching him tell humorous stories about the tough, hardnosed version of NFL football played in the 1950's on NFL Films and on the talk show circuit after his autobiography was published. Art Donovan was a classic, and he will be missed.

Sad news. Artie was a true 'one-of-a-kind' and he will be missed by many in the football world. Donovan and Brasse made a heck of a team on the field and off the field in the broadcast booth. Their shows were classics. Artie was a hero of mine, as a member of the Colts World Champion Football teams, and as a man who bled Colts Blue and White. Gonna miss him.:( -- Al

I only got to know A. Donovan in his later years but have read several interesting books/videos on the Colts of the late 50's he was a great player but a even better down to earth type person, I love watching him tell old stories from those playing days and all the crazy jokes and wild times he and the team went through during those days, when people say "one of a kind" that is old Artie himself, hopefully he and Johnny U, Big Bubba are up there talking bout the good ol days again...Sammy

Placed my over/under bets today as follows;

Baltimore 8.5 took the under
Jets 6.5 took the under, they are an injury or two away from 3-13
Giants 9.0 took the under
Steelers 9.0 took the over, 9 is way too low
Saints 9.0 took the over, the Aints should win 11
Houston 10.0 took the over, they are my super bowl pick

Mike Miller, what do you think..................?

George-
You underestimate the Mark Sanchez factor. The man is part QB and part god. I think the Jets go 16-0. How creepy is it that Rex Ryan has a tattoo of his wife wearing Sanchez's jersey?

Rex said he finally understand what it takes to be a good NFL head coach, he totally "gets it" now.

He may be half the man he used to be (literally), but he's still a major bull@#$% artist, NOW he understands what it takes to be a head coach.

And at the same time, this looks like the worst Jets team on his watch; he'll be gone after this year.

Upon further review of this video;

First of all, his receiver falls down, yet he still tries to get the ball to him.
Secondly, if he threw it anyway to avoid the sack, just throw it into the ground.
Third, he completely ole's the guy who picked it off, doesn't even attempt to tackle him; I'm actually glad he did as chances are, he would have shattered his shoulder trying to tackle the guy and been out for the rest of the year, which would have been terrible news for the rest of the AFC.

This guy is just about as bad as it gets.

And to think he took the Jets to back to back AFCCG's.

I also heard Geno Smith, the guy Jets fans will be screaming for once Sanchez throws his first pic 6 in the regular season, got hurt last night, which is just as well as I've heard he's clueless out there too so far in camp.

Shouldn't you be worrying about your team instead of a bad team that will be fortunate to win six? In Sanchez's defense, he's learning a new system and he has poor receivers, not to mention a poor running game. Holmes is about two months away.

I wouldn't say Geno is clueless. He's a rookie in his first pro game you can't make an evaluation at this stage.

Based on what I saw last night in the first game vs the Eagles, I have nothing to worry about.

Granted it was one game and is was vs the Eagles, who are going nowhere this year, but I like the new offense, it's clearly run first, pass second. The Patriots have three very good backs, plus two very good blocking tight ends.

It reminds me of the Broncos in the late 1990's as Elway was on the back nine; they went from a pass first team to a running team and they won two Super Bowls as a result.

Brady is on the back nine, they need to establish the run and punch teams like the Ravens, Steelers and Broncos in the mouth with it, then throw the ball.

And sorry, learning a new offense has nothing to do with that boneheaded decision to throw that pass, he looked like a pop warner quarterback in that gif.

He is just awful.
