It is my opinion that Sammy and Louis are showing a remarkable insensitivity towards all the sponsors and especially the poor rich folks who shell out huge amounts of money to attend their one football game of the year. These true fans certainly deserve warm, dry weather in order to enjoy their party experience and the game, in case they happen to glance at the field. The NFL throws this huge celebration precisely so that all these poor rich people can spend their money to enjoy the real NFL experience. Bad weather will simply spoil the whole day. Jeesh! -- Al

Al:

Like you said, it is a just a party to most people and not a sporting event. Each year it becomes less about the game itself and more about the events surronding it. The halftime performances, the commercials, which celebrites are there etc. It is actually kind of sad. The commercialization of the whole thing is overboard and people have begun to miss the point of the Super Bowl, it is after all the championship game for the NFL.

The Giants and Eli Manning have been sued in a sports memorabilia matter:

According to a civil-racketeering, breach-of-contract, malicious-prosecution and trade-libel suit filed Wednesday in Bergen County (N.J.) Superior Court, a helmet displayed at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton as the one Eli Manning wore in Super Bowl XLII is a fake.

The New York Post reports that sports memorabilia collector Eric Inselberg alleges that the helmet is one of many forgeries passed along by the team as they “repeatedly engaged in the distribution of fraudulent Giants memorabilia.” According to the suit, the team’s equipment manager Joe Skiba told Inselberg he created fake memorabilia at the behest of team management and players, including helmets purportedly worn by Manning in each of his Super Bowl victories, and the lawsuit includes an email that they believe shows Skiba knew he was handing over ersatz goods.

The whole memorabilia industry, in my opinion, is just one big scam.

Brad, it sure is a huge problem. Fake autographs have been a problem for a long time and the rest just keeps growing. Lot more fakes than real stuff on the market. The problem drove me out of the market way back in the mid-90's and it's only gotten worse. I don't see how anyone can buy with confidence short of actually witnessing the signature or receiving an item from the actual hands of the athlete in question. -- Al

Seattle sure making Denver look like a bunch of high-school footballers. That pick-6 was a dagger to the heart. Also think Denver should have taken the 3 instead of the 4th down attempt. Manning not looking good at all, nothing on the ball. Didn't expect this big a point gap. {eek3} -- Al

Denver was obviously tight from the get go whereas the Seahawks looked like they were shot out of a cannon.

I don't know if this will matter but passing up the FG at the end of the half was a mistake. When you have no points, you need to put points on the board.

Game is close to being over. If they keep pounding Lynch, forget it.

Well, if it wasn't over before the 2nd half KO, it is now. What else is on?:wink2: -- Al

The old maxim that defense wins championships seems to be holding.

My favorite part of any live event/Super Bowl halftime are the idiots they recruit to jump up and down on the field. As though the viewing public think that is normal behavior and not completely contrived. They probably have collars on that give them an electrical shock if they are not enthusiastic enough for the network. They also turn the lights out to avoid showing the general public yawning and looking at their watches.

This is just unbelievable. This is going to be another of those legendary Denver SB losses {eek3}

Pete Carroll was a terrific big game coach in college. And mostly on the D side. His teams almost always saved their best for the big bowl games. A great game plan today shutting down one of the best offensive teams in NFL history.

Legendary indeed. Doug Williams and the Redskins rang up 35 points in the 2nd quarter against Denver in SB XXII on way to a 42-10 win. Well, it's a DC legend anyway.:wink2: I think Denver will now lead the NFL in SB losses at 5. And as I type this, Denver has started it's comeback, closing to 36-8.:rolleyes2: -- Al
