I see that Mueller who was appointed by the NFL (and paid by the NFL as well) has said that Goodell didn't know about the tape of Rice knocking out his now wife. Wow, what a shock. Nope, no conflict of interest there, no appearance of impropriety there :rolleyes2:

That only means Goodell is grossly incompetent instead of an outright liar. I'm not sure which is worse. In the end, though, this is all on law enforcement. Even without the victim's cooperation, they had the tape. That was sufficient for a conviction. Case closed. Instead he was given preferential treatment because he was a NFL player. Not only was he not charged for a serious crime, but they covered up the tape from the media. The law enforcement folks who handled this case should be investigated.

You nailed that one. It also turns out that Mueller works at the firm that the NFL uses.

They should be investigated right after they leave the stadium and their complimentary skybox seats. Roger knows how to return a favor.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Sounds like the proposed location for the Rams new stadium will be the grounds of the Hollywood Park Racetrack. I didn't realize that place had gone out of business. Now I really feel old. It's right behind the Forum where the Lakers played for many years near LAX. Kind of sad that an old landmark like the HPR has bitten the dust, but if it had to go then bringing the Rams back to LA is a better use than an apartment or business complex.

I guess whatever works. Where did the Rams used to play? The Coliseum?

Yes, from the late 40s until about 1980. They played in Anaheim for several years before moving to StL.

Does Anaheim have a football stadium. I thought the only thing the had was the Big A.

They played their games at the Angels stadium.

The Patriots won a game there in the 1980's on a final play hail Mary heave, Tony Eason to Irving Fryar.

The Patriots in the mid to late 80's were coached by my favorite WR, Baltimore Colt Ray Berry. He took the Pats to their first Super Bowl, though they lost to that brutal Bears team, coached by Ditka. Berry had 631 lifetime receptions, the record when he retired at the end of the '67 season. And just for the sake of trivia, Mr. Berry only fumbled the football ONE time in his 13 year career. -- Al

I loved those Pats teams from the 70's and 80's. I did a book report on "Happy to be Alive" by Daryl Stingley in grammar school. Talk about an inspirational athlete.

The Patriots hired Berry after they fired Ron Meyer, former SMU coach who was 5-3 at the time, he fired DC Rod Rust and the owner then fired him. Berry stepped in and the following year, they went to the Super Bowl, they were the first time to go to the Super Bowl by winning three road games; Jets, Raiders, Dolphins.

The Patriots went up 3-0 on the heavily favored Bears, then got outscored 46-7 and lost 46-10.

The following year, they were a better team IMO; Tony Eason was injured and Doug Flutie took over and led the team to victory after victory. They made the playoffs again and for whatever reason, Berry started Eason over Flutie as the Patriots faced horseface Elway and they lost; IMO, had Betty started Flutie, they would have won the game and gone back to the Super Bowl.

They never made the playoffs again and he was fired a few years later...................

I was a Pat fan in those early years as well, going back to Babe Parilli and Jim Nance. They used to have some big boys on those teams. -- Al

Going with my never fail me pick them technique, I totally hate, hate, hate the Patriots and Cowboys, so will go with any opponent. And will pick Denver and Seattle because my wife likes their uniforms...^&grin Michael

That's sure fire betting system; bet against teams you hate, I'm sure that works out well.

You hate the Patriots; really, I never would have guessed.....................:wink2:

Never let emotion get the best of you!

Patriots
Seattle (but it will be close for awhile)
Cowboys - that will be the upset
Denver - Colts aren't a very good team. Good enough to beat the so so teams but not the really good teams. That will be a long term problem for them. Luck makes them a marginally good team but they need to get bad -- odd as it sounds -- to get better.
