The "Tuck Rule" was a referee making the correct call. It was a bad rule, a rule that has since been changed, but he made the right call in that situation.

It got blown out of proportion because it happened vs the Raiders, an organization that feels the NFL is out to get them. I love how people glom onto this and rail on the Patriots like it was their fault the stupid rule existed in the first place and a ref interepreted the rule correctly.

To throw a flag, announce the penalty, then pick up the flag is apples to hand grenades vs the Tuck Rule.

I agree with everything Michael said.

That said, is is sports, the toybox of life, we're not splitting atoms nor is this life or death.

Some of you take this nonsense way too seriously.

George, I agree with you here. This is supposed to be a "Game" and enjoyed by the viewing public. When NFL football becomes a platform
for arguments, insults hurled, and bad feelings at the end of it all then the game becomes a burden as opposed to being enjoyable.
I feel sorry for some that bet huge amounts of their money on these games and lose it all to fate.

The best week of the NFL week is this week, when you have the round of the best 8 teams to me is the most enjoyable.

with all the talk on the Cowboys/penalties, I think they have a good shot at beating GB, I remember not long ago the Pack had a bye week and got smoked at home in the divisional round by the Giants.

biggest blowout this week, Seattle will kill the Panthers, not even close.

and if Manning plays Jan. ball like usual then the Colts will be rolling on, but I think the Broncos win a close one there...Sammy

High temp in Green Bay this Sunday is going to be 17. That is going to be brutal. Can't see the Cowboys winning on the road in those conditions.

5 of the 8 remaining teams have Super Bowl winning quarterbacks, it will be interesting to see if experience matters.

Of the four road teams, I give the best shot to the Cowboys. They are 8-0 on the road although of course the Packers are the same at home. The big factor may be Rogers' calf, which is still an issue. Cold weather will not help that.

I give the Ravens a shot but you shouldn't use the 2012 Championship game as a predictor. Only four offensive players from that team are on this and only a couple of starters from the defensive side are left.

This thread is sure starting to have a lot of deletions. Glad we're not talking anything serious :rolleyes2:

Brad, That occurred to me as well about Roger's and his calf. If he takes a few good sacks by Dallas it may be a big factor in the game.

Sounds like there is a good chance the Rams may be moving back to LA. At long last! It's incredible the NFL hasn't had an LA team in a long, long time. Now if they can get them back into those blue and white uniforms. I remember as a kid watching Roman Gabriel, Deacon Jones and the like playing under the California sun.

Looks like the Rams are leaving St Louis.

So they moved from LA to St Louis, went to two super bowls, won one and are now going back to LA, the place they left.

Makes zero sense.

So will the fans of St Louis be all up in arms now and will Curt Warner come out and be upset and declare he's now a LA Ram and want nothing to do with the St Louis Rams.

Hey here's an idea; maybe the Cleveland Browns can move to St Louis and become a huge success.

It worked the last time they were stolen away from their fans, maybe it will work again this time.

Give it a shot and see what happens.................

George, it won't work. St. Louis already had a team named the Browns, even though it was baseball. And they moved to...wait for it...Baltimore! The gods of irony will not let it happen again. -- Al

League champions moving are not as uncommon as you might think. I started out this post writing that league champions don't move to another city often. However, in baseball we have the New York Giants, Brooklyn Dodgers, Milwaukee Braves and the Philadelphia Athletics, and in football, we have the Colts and perhaps the Browns, although technically the Browns didn't move to Baltimore. There may be others but those are the ones off the top of my head.

good things happen to those that are named "Browns":)...Sammy

It is currently 0 degrees in Green Bay. The high tomorrow is 1. Warming up to a balmy 21 on Sunday. I hate those domed stadiums and glad they play outdoors but I don't see how they get anyone to come to the game in those frigid conditions.

The ongoing shakedown by NFL owners of tax payers is shameful. I don't believe anything like that is going on with the Rams, but the owners use these moves or threats to move to leverage tax breaks and incentives in a sport that makes billions in profits. Instead they put it on the back of average citizens to pay for their stadiums. The politicians line up to accomodate them. The Rams should never have moved from LA in the first place. They had a crazy woman take over the team when her husband died. Otherwise it doesn't happen. They should move the Cards back to St. Louis and refund all the money to the tax payers in AZ who were stuck with an enoromous bill for that stadium.

I can't imagine sitting for 3-4 hours in 20 degree weather and watching a game...much less playing in one...it just doesn't sound like fun to me...I prefer domes as I think the inclement weather takes away from the integrity of the skill of the players...

too hot causes dehydration...fatigue...cramps...etc...

too wet causes traction and fumbles...

too cold causes too much for me to even comprehend...I don't even understand how Northerners function daily in this type of weather...

there was actually a fatality of a fan in the frigid weather of the Ice Bowl...

I prefer to see the players play in ideal peak weather conditions...domes for me...

you have to be a hardcore fan to watch a game in below freezing temperatures...

That is what is called football weather. That is how legends are born. Everybody remembers the Ice Bowl and the frigid temperatures in which the Bears played in 1985 when they beat the Giants and the Rams. After all, this is the Black and Blue Division. The Vikings D from the 70s didn't get their reputation from playing indoors but outdoors. 21 should be playable, positively balmy. GB fans love this stuff. That's part of the advantage they have. Moreover, it's at 1pm EST on Sunday so shouldn't be a problem. I remember when the Giants played there on their way the Super Bowl a few years ago. The game was at night. Now, that was cold.

That is why I hate when the SB is played in neutral sites. It should be played in cold weather, Bear weather :wink2:
