NFL 2015 Season (2 Viewers)

George...

why did NE choose to kickoff in OT...after winning the coin toss?

was that a coaching mistake...or some type of misunderstanding?

I just read this...

The Patriots actually won the toss, but for some reason the Patriots elected to kick the ball. Matthew Slater tried to fix that error, but Clete Blakeman wouldn’t let him. Maybe Slater though if you won the toss, you automatically get the ball?

Thank you Ravens ^&cool

Jets now control events. If they win next week, they're in. You know Captain Blowhard will do his darnedest to beat them.

Just to hedge my bets, I will be pulling for Cincy to beat Denver.

Mike:

It sounds like college football. If you win the toss you always want to play defense to see if you need a touchdown or field goal to win, tie, etc. In the NFL it is the exact opposite.

I don't think I have ever seen a team in the NFL defer in OT after winning the toss?

Jason...

I haven't either...

to start a game...
the Pats almost always elect to kick off...
and receive the kick off in the second half...

of course over time rules are different as a TD ends the game...

so you really want the ball first in OT...

I am gonna ask George if the NE player that represented the team at the OT coin toss...

was their regular captain or maybe someone else...that doesn't really understand the rules...

the way I understand it...
is after the NE coaching staff realized that their team captain elected to kickoff...
the coaching staff tried to reverse their captain's decision to kick...
but the referees wouldn't allow it...

I bet Belichick went ballistic...

sometimes you just feel like you have a hold a player's hands on every play...
they should know this...

Has been a unbelievable year for the Ravens. They have 5 wins, 4 by 3 points and 1 by 6. Of their 10 losses, 8 are by 8 points or fewer, meaning 13 of 15 games decided by 8 or fewer points. I can't remember anything remotely similar over a stretch of so many games. -- Al

I'm impressed by the KC Chiefs. They started out 1-5 and are now 10-5. A remarkable turn-around. On the other hand, Green Bay started out 6-0, looking like world beaters, and have only played .500 ball since, and are getting clobbered today, currently trailing 31-0. What happened to them? The door is open for the Vikings. Sure been a feast or famine year for a lot of teams this season. -- Al

Al...

they should take Rodgers out of that game before he gets broken...

6 sacks and the 3rd quarter is only halfway over...

KC has not exactly been playing a tough schedule. However, they may wind up playing the Texans, which is probably doable.

Cards could go all the way this year. A lot of the credit has to go to Arians.

Rodgers sacked 10 times...

still 3rd qtr...

10 TIMES!!!

2 sacks resulted in fumbles for TD's...

take him out before he gets killed...

I had a feeling this game could get ugly, but I never dreamed it could get this ugly.

Mike...

Arizona is just on fire tonight...

their defensive line is manhandling GB's offensive line...

I don't see why they don't pull Rodgers...

"ugly"...hahaha...be glad you're not a Cowboy fan...

Strange day as Seattle, Pittsburg, Carolina and New England all lost. With the exception of New England's loss to a Jets team that is fighting my for a playoff the spot the rest were all upsets.

Mike,
Slater, Bolden, Ebner and Mayo are the four captains who always go out for the coin toss.

Slater had a brain fart, pure and simple, what a stupid, boneheaded thing to do, handing the ball to spinach chin on a silver platter.

Nice rub play the Jets ran to spring their tight end; that's the same OPI call they throw a flag on the Patriots on EVERY SINGLE TIME, I guess the refs feel it's ok for the Jets to run it.

Now the Patriots have to win next week; if the Bengals win out and the Patriots lose to Miami, the Bengals get HFA. If the Broncos win tomorrow night and all three teams end up with 12-4 records, the Donkos get HFA, the Patriots would be second.

Huge, huge loss today to spinach chin and the Jets, had a bad vibe all game long. This team is just too banged up, they lost their starting left tackle and both of their starting safeties, spinach chin and Marshall lit them up. They have nobody on offense other than Gronk right now, their defense sucked today, they got lit up.

The Patriots could very well end up playing Spinach Chin and the Jets in the second round of the playoffs.

What a @#$%ing joy that's going to be watching Spinach Chin continually convert 3rd and 4, 3rd and 6, 3rd and 8, 3rd and 9's all @#$%ing game long.

Just infuriating.

had to run an errand in my car...the radio was on Sirius XM ESPN talk...

they said Belichick made the call to kickoff in OT...he made the call not to get the ball first...

the radio announcer said he addressed it in his post game interview with a 14 word response...

something to the effect...paraphrasing..."I thought it was the right call"...

he's gonna catch a lot of flack for that call...

but that's how fans are...

they always blame the last negative thing that happened on why they lost the game...

can't tell you how many times I have heard...

"if it wasn't for that PI call on the last drive...we would have won"...

or...

"if it wasn't for that fumble on our goal line with 10 seconds left...we would have won"...

blah...blah...blah...

fans always blame it on the last thing that went against them...

they forget about the 100 plays that put them in that spot...

if NE had been up by 3 TD's...obviously...it would have never gone to OT...

now the coach with the best record in the last decade gets blamed for this lose...
