NFL 2015 Season (1 Viewer)

To each his own but if i refused to watch the SB because my team had lost the conference championship or hadn't made the playoffs, as a Jets fan I would have never watched a game! I even watched the SB between Pittsburgh and GB after the Steelers had beaten the Jets. That was a tough one but I still watched the SB.

Have to say that there have been plenty of SB's that involved teams I either didn't care about or actively disliked, but I still have watched them all, in part or completely. I have never missed a whole SB, for any reason. Mother nature will end that run someday, but until then I will continue to watch. Same thing goes for the World Series. Can't watch a sport all season and not see the title game/games.^&grin
Now, the halftime abortions are a completely different matter.:wink2: -- Al

George...

the Las Vegas line has jumped quite a bit from opening at Carolina -4 1/2...

it's up to -5 1/2 now in most place and -6 in some...

still...

I wouldn't miss it...

can't understand how you can drop the sport just cause your team is eliminated...

should be a good show...

am anxious to see how Cam fares against Denver's rush...
and to see how Brady does against Carolina's too...

I meant...

and to see how Manning does against Carolina's too...

I know what you meant..............................:wink2:................and you're right, it should be Brady in there.

Whatever.

The group I get together with to watch NFL football is not having a shindig this year, so I'm out.

My girlfriend puts up with enough nonsense between me being away from here to watch 16 games a year plus playoffs, then away another 16 weekends attending shows from Virginia to Illinois and she never says a word.

I'll let her plan a day a week from Sunday.

She deserves it.

Plus, if it's a blowout, I'll tune out anyway and if Manning wins another Super Bowl, I'll want to smash something.

So forget it.

didn't you tell me you have NFL Ticket...or the program that you can watch any replay of an NFL game?

Hard to believe that SB I actually had a real marching band for halftime entertainment. Things have sure changed. -- Al

Hi Al, did you get to watch the NFL Network re airing of Superbowl I??? I saw it the other nite and loved it!!!!!! I had no clue how close that game was at the half, the Chiefs played the Pack pretty well until the Packers intercepted the ball early in the 3rd after that the Pack took over the game, but loved the half time bands, as well as seeing a young Kirk Douglas in the crowd!! and loved the photo of QB Lenny Dawson at half time in the locker having a relaxing smoke before the 2nd half started!!!!! my God how things have changed in a short 50 years...Sammy

Sammy, I did see the show. Brought back many things I had forgotten. Loved the simplicity of it all. -- Al

I will watch the game, however it does not really matter to me who wins as I have no interest or disinterest in either team.

I could reach and say that I want the Broncos to win because of Elway (Stanford) or I can say I want the Panthers to win since Ron Rivera went to high school in Monterey as a military brat at Fort Ord (which is only about an hour and a half from Levi Stadium). Both of those seem like a long way to go for a rooting interest so I think I will just say I am going to watch it for the commercials and a prop bet or two.

OLB Sean Lee (replaces Justin Houston)

PK Dan Bailey

C Travis Frederick

G Zack Martin

OT Tyron Smith

with Sean Lee getting in as a replacement...

Dallas has more Pro Bowl selections than wins in 2015...

not good!

I have the NFL red zone, they do whip around coverage of all the games, it's awesome; this way, if the two 1:00PM or the one 4:00Pm games are a snooze festival, I don't have to watch them.

When I was a kid, the AFL games were not on TV, so here in MA they rammed the New York Football Giants down our throats, we were subjected to watching Fran Tarkenton run for his life in the old Yankee Stadium each and every Sunday. It would be one thing if they were good, but they stunk.

Probably explains why there are so many Giants fans around here; brainwashed as children. How else would you become a fan of that team?

Thanks to Grampa Coughlin and podunk Eli, there are loads of Patriots fans in depressed areas of South America and Africa; that's where they sent the 2008 and 2012 Super Bowl Champion hats and tee shirts that were printed up for the players prior to both of those Super Bowl disasters, rather than be thrown in a dumpster and set on fire like they should have been.

But Warrior,

The COMMERCIALS bro! You gotta watch for the commercials man. Those are epic. i missed all the SB commercials in the 90's due to being overseas and I guess thats why when i listen to XM radio and hear frogs saying "90's on 9", I'm like ***? I did not know that was a famous Budweiser SB commercial. I'll never forget the 1984 commercial by Apple.

Look at the bright side George. I was in old Yankee stadium bored to tears and freezing my butt off watching those horrible Giants teams in person.

Fantasy sports has taken another hit. In addition to several states, the latest being Mississippi, ruling that it's gambling, the credit card processor for Draft Kings and Fan Duel has indicated they're terminating their services, effective February 29.

Combat!

Yo, the negative waves man! Hey, I am not a huge NFL fan either, but I dig the Super Bowl and the Broncos of course. In fact, I banned Fantasy Football talk in my store this year because it was getting out of control. "I traded so and so, I got this many points, I lost that, I picked up so and so, I'm the Commissioner this year..." Good lord, it was a regular sausage fest and I was sick of it...so I banned it.

If there is one thing that I wholeheartedly disagree with about the Super Bowl is when they crown themselves as the "World Champions". Uh, no. You can't call your self the World Champs if you don't play the rest of the world. Hence, welcome to the United States where the Men are Men and the Women win the WORLD Cup.

Now, Combat this statement/article about the Military paying the NFL for the "warm and fuzzy" money shots at the beginning of the games I have got to see. Because if it's true...I'M GOING TO MY CONGRESSMAN! (remember that threat from one of the other threads around here). Anyway, I feel bad for you Combat and don't want to see you so despresso man. So, what can I do to cheer you up?

Lemme know,

PS: I can send you a rack of fajitas in the mail or a pecan pie.

Watch the movie "Idiocracy" sometimes. A silly comedy but with some heavy truth. The coming wave is a society raised on social media and reality TV. A major dumbing down is in progress with the masses duped by overblown events and constant commercialism and advertisements. I'll take those fajitas though. LOL. I'm actually going to a hockey game on SB day but they even changed the time for that so we can all rush home and stare at the box. Imagine being excited by the new commercials. I turn the mute on every time they play a commercial. I'm surprised they even allow us to still do that that instead of having one those telescreens from"1984" that you could never turn off or mute.

John,
The commercials used to be comical, but lately, they've stunk....................used to be a reason to tune in, but anymore.

As bad as they were, there was something iconic about those old Giants uniforms all covered in mud, playing in the hallowed ground of the old Yankee Stadium.

You've got my sympathy. Look at it this way; being loyal to your team paid off four times since then, just like being loyal to those craptacular Patriots teams of the 70's, 80's and 90's paid off for me.

There's something to be said for loyalty.....

George,

Loyalty is the most important virtue. That's what makes you a stand up guy.

I feel you. When I watched Idiocracy I was like "whoa, you got something there". No, no I hear every word your saying. I got a niece who is like 27 years old who more concerned with her Kim Kardashian app than her son! Personally, my kids are banned from social media; one from instagram and the other from Facebook. Plus, if you were ever to ask one of my kids who's phones that it in their hand, they would reply "my dads". Yup, I am the supreme hard *** when it comes to phones and out of the blue I simply say to them "give me your phone" and go through all the texts, web searches, and photos. Plus, they have to "check in" their phone each and every night before bed time in my office...so no phone for you in when you go to sleep.

We do the best we can as parents my wife and I, but the bombardment of media is sooooooo overwhelming that I have to race to change channels when a Viagra commercial comes on when we are watching CNN! Any who, the dumbing down of 'Merica has been going on for a long time and frankly I am sick of it. All I can do is try to educate and raise my kids to best of my ability. Teach em what's cool and what's ridiculous. Keep them humble and never ever forget who they are and where they came from.

Anyway, I get some grief some times during football season (only during football season) when I am asked "you didn't watch the game???", as if I committed some sort of sin. No, I went to a youth soccer game and to me that was more exciting and wholesome than some BS I watched on TV. But, I must admit I like the Super Bowl, its a great show whether I got a dog in the hunt or not, but when it's over nothing has changed for me. The NFL does not pay my bills and I still have to go to work the next day. I don't get a trophy, reap any benefits, get gatorade thrown on me...nothing. I'm just a fan or voyeur watching a sports spectacle come to its end of the season like any other professional sport.

I can't wait for the Olympics this year, because Rugby is making its appearance once again as an Olympic game. Do you know who are the defending Olympic WORLD Champions are? Yup, the United States who beat France in the 1924 Olympic Games to win Gold.
So, once again the US will face the World in international competition and be waaaaaaay behind, just like in soccer. But I'll save that discussion for another thread.

John from Texas

PS: No empty promises here I'll send you some fajitas if you want them!
