NFL 2015 Season (3 Viewers)

Meanwhile, back to actual NFL talents, not morons; Calvin Johnson announces his retirement.

****.

So, one of the greatest running backs in NFL history and one of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history both retire in their prime rather than keep playing for the Lions, they of the one trip to the NFCCG and zero trips to the Super Bowl in team history.....................they should change their name to the Detroit career killers..................................

I feel you. When I watched Idiocracy I was like "whoa, you got something there". No, no I hear every word your saying. I got a niece who is like 27 years old who more concerned with her Kim Kardashian app than her son! Personally, my kids are banned from social media; one from instagram and the other from Facebook. Plus, if you were ever to ask one of my kids who's phones that it in their hand, they would reply "my dads". Yup, I am the supreme hard *** when it comes to phones and out of the blue I simply say to them "give me your phone" and go through all the texts, web searches, and photos. Plus, they have to "check in" their phone each and every night before bed time in my office...so no phone for you in when you go to sleep.

We do the best we can as parents my wife and I, but the bombardment of media is sooooooo overwhelming that I have to race to change channels when a Viagra commercial comes on when we are watching CNN! Any who, the dumbing down of 'Merica has been going on for a long time and frankly I am sick of it. All I can do is try to educate and raise my kids to best of my ability. Teach em what's cool and what's ridiculous. Keep them humble and never ever forget who they are and where they came from.

Anyway, I get some grief some times during football season (only during football season) when I am asked "you didn't watch the game???", as if I committed some sort of sin. No, I went to a youth soccer game and to me that was more exciting and wholesome than some BS I watched on TV. But, I must admit I like the Super Bowl, its a great show whether I got a dog in the hunt or not, but when it's over nothing has changed for me. The NFL does not pay my bills and I still have to go to work the next day. I don't get a trophy, reap any benefits, get gatorade thrown on me...nothing. I'm just a fan or voyeur watching a sports spectacle come to its end of the season like any other professional sport.

I can't wait for the Olympics this year, because Rugby is making its appearance once again as an Olympic game. Do you know who are the defending Olympic WORLD Champions are? Yup, the United States who beat France in the 1924 Olympic Games to win Gold.
So, once again the US will face the World in international competition and be waaaaaaay behind, just like in soccer. But I'll save that discussion for another thread.

John, I personally like that concept of grabbing up your kids phones and doing some "Spot Checks" on what they are doing. The best Medicine is Preventive Medicine !!!

They also have to work on Thanksgiving day. Usually on the wrong side of a beat down. At least they have kept the uniforms more or less the same. I'm hoping the Rams go back to their blue and white unis from the 60s and 70s now that they are in LA. The marketing imbeciles probably consider it too risky though. Better to dress them up like video game space boys.

Well remember those blue and white unis of the Rams. They were arch-rivals of the Baltimore Colts, in their blue and white unis. Unitas wore #19 and Gabriel wore #18 and those two teams played some terrific games against each other. Blue and white in Baltimore or LA, great times. -- Al

Idiocracy, the first comedy that became a documentary.

can't agree that Johnson is in his prime...gonna be 31 next year and his 2015 stats show this is his worst year ever in his career in yards per catch...with his 132 million dollar contract...and no brain damage...but still complaining of general soreness in his body...I would leave too...why stick around til you stutter and slobber all over yourself due to hits...I know he's still productive and can continue to be productive...but it seems smart to me...

Lovely pants that Cam Newton wore on his trip out. If you want to draw attention to yourself, I guess that's the kind of outfit you wear. See http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ton-dons-electric-pants-for-super-bowl-flight

Jonathan Stewart was dressed the way you should -- in my opinion -- when you go on a business trip.

Guess I'm old fashioned.

No, you're not old fashioned.

Just think; on Sunday, the moron wearing those God awful pants might be hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.................what a comforting thought.

So you pick on one stat to prove he's no longer in his prime?

88 catches, most since 2012, 1214 yards, 5th best productionwise in his career and 200 more than 2014, along with 9 TD's.

Those 2015 stats would make him far better than anyone the Patriots can throw out there.

Those stats hardly translate to him being on the back nine.

yea...kind of the same way you filtered through my post and neglected mention his personal net worth...not needing the money...the current state of ill well being...the age of the people he competes against and his fortunate escape from anything being permanently damaged yet...like a head trauma injury...I would leave too...he skipped the back nine...went straight to the club house...I can justify his wanting to leave easily...

Scary thought of the day:

Brady having Calvin Johnson to throw to.

What the Patriots really need is an elite running back so they can actually run the ball again, something they haven't been able to do since 2004.

Run the ball, keep the defense honest, be able to control the clock and most importantly, don't rely on a 39 year old QB to throw the ball 50 times a game.

Read an article yesterday where the author basically said Stork, the Patriots center, was moving his head each time he was about to snap the ball, giving Denver a signal so they timed it and were firing off the ball, hitting Brady over 20 times.

And yeah, I get it, Denver has a very good defense; as I watched them blow up play after play and harass Brady all game long, my thought was "They're not THAT good"..................go back to running the ball would be my suggestion for 2016 and beyond.

The Patriots' leading rusher in that game was Brady with 13 yards.

Interestingly enough the team that has run the ball the best so far in the playoffs is Carolina. That challenge alone changes the complexity of the defensive game plan for Denver.

Gents,

OMG you guys forget your forget who started it:

Remember "Broadway Joe"? The flashiest player since 1969.

Bad omen? The local news here in the Bay Area is reporting that a Broncos' team bus was in a minor accident on its way back from practice.

We'll see how that all world defense in Denver does vs a team that can pass, run and has a QB who will tuck the ball away and run as well.

Much different than knowing the snap count, not respecting the run at all and just pinning your ears back and rushing the QB.

Wade Phillips, who played a soft zone vs Roethlisburger and almost lost the game because of it, pulled a very good game plan out of his backside vs New England; let's see him draw up another one....................
