NFL Season 2016-17 (1 Viewer)

I haven't seen the movie but know the story. I agree it's a dangerous sport, especially when played at the NFL level.

The bigger question to me is what about football at the college, high school and younger ages? Football is religion down here (just about). A rite of passage, a brotherhood, an affirmation of one's mettle, mental & physical. A **ndamental rework of the game and it's conventions needs to happen, most likely. That should be as easy as moving Mt Everest.

I've read that participation in teams sports such as football has fallen off significantly for many younger kids due in part to the risk of injury. The flip side of this is that many parents are now overly protective of their children. It has become a real headache for schools and teachers to deal with nutty parents who are overly sensitive to any issue no matter how minor relating to their child. A school administrator told me that parents often call and scream at him if their kids scrapes their knee at the playground and they are not immediately informed.

Football is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :):) sorry guys I know that is a bit of a over statement but even having my team report to camp for the Summer only proves that the regular season isn't that far off!! and after a long 5 plus months it's good to see the guys back on the field, that being said it's also some of the scarier times as well, nothing worse then reading one or two of your starters or good back ups blow out a ACL or tear something during camp, so here's good health to all the teams during the dog days of Summer!...Sammy

Yup, barring major injuries to key players and if they can survive the first four games without Brady; whoops, sorry, that's "Shady Brady", such a creative nickname (2-2 would be fine with me), the Patriots are the clear cut favorites in the AFC, there are three teams in the NFC that are better than anyone in the AFC outside of New England; Seattle, Carolina and Arizona.

Long way to go, but they are the favorite to get to the Super Bowl in the AFC; Denver still has a great defense, but Sanchez? Come to think of it, he's probably no worse than the corpse of Manning was last year, Denver had the 31st ranked QB's in the NFL last year, 18 TD's, 23 INT's, just goes to show you what a good defense and HFA can do in the playoffs........................Gary Kubiak is a Super Bowl winning coach............good God, has the hair dye pickled his brain yet by the way?

Unbelievable.

Actually, I misspoke here as the Steelers are a very good team as well, they will be a major challenge to New England; down their two best offensive weapons in the playoffs last year, they gave Denver a better game than New England and thanks to a gift turnover (it's Denver, so naturally), they lost, but they should have beaten them and if they had, they would have gone on to the Super Bowl and gotten that seventh ring, the one Steelers fans everywhere want; one for the thumb is 2016....................has a nice ring to it, but not as nice as One for the thumb in 81..........................How'd that work out by the way?

70K showed up to watch the Packers practice. Hopefully it was at least free, but knowing the NFL owners they probably charged for parking etc.

Interesting article about how the Ivy League has banned tackling in practice and is using "robots" to minimize injuries. I'm not sure if this is good or signals the end of western civilization as we know it but:

With that weight, he couldn't make it in the AFC East.

Hey, Tone, take off the feed bag, try a salad!

He probably spent the off-season sitting around, drinking beer while setting up the toy soldiers he collects (at least that is my excuse).

You have it all wrong George. Ole Tone just has an inflated view of himself.

Happy Anniversary to the Ginger Haired Stooge, he's been in charge of the NFL ten years as of today and what a legacy he's built.

Spygate
Deflategate
Bountygate
Rice/Peterson/Hardy suspensions
2011 Lockout
Concussion studies/player safety issues

He's done a fine job......................................:rolleyes2:

And don't forget the legacy of billions of dollars he has helped the owners (aka his bosses) make during those 10 years while pretty much ignoring any sense of concern for the players and fans.

really undecided if I like the new kick off rule...

possession on the 25 to start a series is not bad field position...

I think it might deter a lot of run backs...

if so...I will miss the excitement of the returns...

but they are almost marred with penalties anyway...

this was designed to cut down on injuries...

but I have read that the kicking team's theoretical strategy might be an extremely high one inside the 10...

so it may cause more injuries than it prevents...

I get it, the NFL is a big deal. However I really don't see the need for ESPN to analyze team's personnel decisions based on one pre-season game where many players played one series.

Sam Bradford went 1-1 for 3 yards and now he is the starter?

Caught the first episode of hard knocks the other night; don't mess with that tough guy Jeff Fischer, if you have a lady friend in the dorm, you'll get cut.

Of course it's some scrub who would have been working at a car wash in September and not a high profile player, but he made his point............:rolleyes2:

Explain to me how this bloated frog of a stooge is still a head coach, he hasn't had a winning season in what, 7 years and he was babbling in a team meeting about "I'm not here to go 7-9, 0r 8-8, or 9-7............................or 10-6......................." Yeah right, you'd be thrilled to go 9-7.

What a leader of men.

And that ex Marine defensive coach seems like a **n fella to be around, he favorite word is the F Bomb, he uses it like people use salt and pepper at the dinner table; we get it, dial it back a bit, this is 2016, not 1972.

And are they going to still wear those arena league blue and gold uniforms; you're back in LA now, time to dust off the blue and whites old school Rams uniforms.

Do it right or don't do it at all.......................
