NFL Season 2016-17 (2 Viewers)

Brad, as in all things people see and view things totally different and I have no issue with that, but the majority of Baltimore Colts fans that grew up in the 50s, 60s,70's have a love for that team that is hard to explain (did you ever see Barry Levinston movie (Diner)??? take that movie to heart if you have seen it as many members of my East Coast family are like a lot of characters in that movie!!!! they, myself bled blue/white, and now we're all Ravens Redskins,Raiders,Indy Colts, etc. etc. fans, :( and I say this with no hesitation as much as I love my Ravens if Irsay Jrs tended . called today to make a deal to give the name and colors back to Baltimore I'd be thrilled to no end!!!! just my point of view on the matter...Sammy
As big a baseball fan as I have always been, nothing has ever equaled my love and adoration for the Baltimore Colts of the 1950's/60's/70's. They were the center of my world back then. I was an O's fan, a Redskins fan, a NYY's fan, a Senators fan, a SF Giants fan, but the Colts over rode all these others in my heart, (and still do to the degree that nostalgia can grip an oldster like me). No one has ever equaled those men in Blue and White, or ever will. May Irsay burn for breaking our hearts. The O's are loved in Baltimore, but nothing has ever equaled what the Colts meant to that city and still do in many of our hearts. 'Sniff, sniff'. :wink2: -- Al

Sports is a business like any other business so owners will do what they think is in their financial interest, from moving a team to trading a popular player. Teams move because they think they can get a better deal elsewhere. The same for players: they move because they think they can get a better deal elsewhere. I don't like to see teams leave but just as I don't begrudge players for getting a better deal, I don't begrudge for owners doing the same.

Greedy owners certainly have blackmailed and shook down politicians for tax breaks and incentives to pay for their new stadiums by threatening to move. I don't care for that but if the politicians and citizens of any community are gullible enough to finance a multi-million dollar project for some billionaire in exchange for a few minimum wage jobs selling popcorn then the fault lies with them. The greedy are going to take all the corporate welfare they can get. The people in Arizona are still furious about the sweet deal the politicians gave the Cards. That doesn't mean the owners can't do this, but it is not good for the fans or league to pull teams from one fan base and move them to another city. Often then filling the vacancy created with another team. If the Colts couldn't make it in Baltimore or the Cards in St. Louis, then why did the NFL think the Ravens and Rams could? It is bad business for the league and fans to enrich a few owners who are already billionaires. They really shot themselves in the foot not having any team in LA for decades because of that.

And it's REALLY got to suck being a Raider fan!! I have lost count how many times they have moved back and forth from Oakland to L.A. and now I here rumors they may be headed to Vegas!!???

As far as owners go I think the Ravens have one of the best in the NFL with Steve Biscotti, not only was he raised in Maryland but another die hard fan of the Baltimore Colts and like many hurt once they were stolen away on a cold dark night!!:mad: he did an interview (which he stays out of the spot light and rarely gives interviews) and promised on his watch no amount of money would be worth moving his Ravens to another city as he has been through and saw the hurt first hand on how it effected so many...Sammy

I understand all that, probably more than most when the Dodgers and Giants decided to move to the West Coast. All I'm saying is that it's a business and best not to get to wrapped up in your teams since they may leave tomorrow if they can get a better deal elsewhere. Let's not forget Baltimore did the same thing to Cleveland that Indianapolis did to them. Don't think Biscotti wouldn't move the team if he thought he could do better elsewhere.

Combat you are 100% correct that the Cardinals should not have left St Louis. Bidwell had a legitiment right to try and get a new stadium and the powers to be denied it. Yet a few years later gave the Rams everything and more to move to St Louis. To be honest when I would say the Rams my first thought was LA Rams that was even after they had been here for years.
Back in the early 80's the Blues were a hair away from moving to Saskatoon. Now that would have caused me to take a long walk on a short pier!

Thursday night football is the worst idea the NFL ever had, consistanly lousy contests, teams unprepared or tired, low scores and mistakes by teams unable to get it together on short weeks.

The Patriots QB situation is starting to resemble the Mets' starting rotation medical issues.

Jacoby Brissett tore the ligament in his right thumb and may be placed on IR. Garropolo is not ready to come back. Julian Edelman could be the QB for game 4 but there are reports that the Pats are working out TJ Yates. The good news (for the Pats) is that Brady returns in two weeks and he's pretty durable.

I am pretty sure that I or any other member of this forum could QB this Patriots team to a victory, they are by far the best team in the NFL.

Will wonders never cease? The 0-2 Redskins, in disarray and in danger of going 0-3, go into NY and beat the Giants for the first time in years. Now, 1-2 looks a lot better than 0-3. -- Al

Can't take much more....on top of my stomach meds the Ravens play another death cage rematch!!!!!!! but I must say I enjoy being on the other end of a few close games, one being the Jags in B-more last year given a extra play with no time to kick a game winner..karma check mate today, Ravens block the Jags last minute attempt to get the win, speaking of Karma one of the more unforgettable games in 2015 was the phantom call against the Ravens in Oakland to give the Raiders another shot to win that game in which they did, Raiders in Baltimore next week and I hope Karma brings the chess set...Sammy

wow...

Fitzpatrick had a heck of a game tonight...

looked like a Pro Bowl Hall of Famer...

Rob Ryan's secondary was dismantled...

OMG!!!

what a difference a week makes...

Jet's fan are gonna be mad about this...

6 interceptions...

I watched the entire game...

could of easily been 12...

for real...

QB rating of 18.2...

Well a quarter of the way into the season and things are pretty much as I thought they'd be. Denver is the class of the AFC, Pittsburg is #2, New England a distant third. The Raiders are looking good too, maybe they'll challenge Denver in the west, big win today vs the Browns.

Nice to see Fatso up in Buffalo won his Super Bowl vs New England today, good for him.

In the AFC, Green Bay and Seattle look to be the top dogs. Dallas is 3-1, should really be 4-0 as they had the Giants dead to rights, a nice surprise to see the Cowboys doing so well.

Arizona and Carolina look to be hung over from last year.

We'll see what the rest of the season has to bring.

The mighty Rams are 3-1. How great would it be for LA to get a Super Bowl shot after all these years with their 10 points and a cloud of dust offense?

I still think the Pats are the best in the AFC. They went 3-1 in the four games without Brady using a 2nd and 3rd string QB. Just about every other team in the NFL would have gone 0-4 under those same circumstances.

Denver's defense is insane; not only are they tough to score against, but they are a turnover creating machine, which is a deadly combination.

As the old saying goes, offense wins games, defense wins championships.

I think Denver will end up 14-2, 13-3 and get HOF and they are next to impossible to beat at home.

Except the Cowboys and Crimson Tide... er, I'm sorry! I keep forgetting that last group is not in the NFL! {sm3}

Throw the Vikings into the mix in the NFC, that defense/front 4/pass rush is other worldly.

No Bridgewater, no Peterson, no problem.

Brilliant game plan by the Jints last night; throw long bombs against a team with a killer pass rush..................outstanding idea.
