NFL Season 2016-17 (2 Viewers)

The game was lost in the first quarter. Those dropped passes were a killer. They dominated the 1st Q but had very little to show for it.

All in all, four poor games this weekend although you could say the Giants GB game was pretty for almost three quarters.

My Superbowl pick of the Packers vs. Steelers is alive and well, I think both games next week will be very close the Steelers in KC but Ben has the edge in QB there, Steelers win by 3-4 points, the Pack will go to Dallas and I think it will be the same type of game, a close one but you have to give the edge to the Pack and years of being in the playoffs, another close one but Pack win by a touchdown.

Every wildcard team lost, all in all it was a relatively predicable weekend. The Raiders vs. Houston was the only game that was up for grabs and that is mostly due to the fact that both teams did not have a QB.

awwwww man...nobody has faith in the Cowboy rookies?

the lines for the second round are:

Seattle
at
Atlanta -4 1/2

Houston
at
New England -16

Pittsburgh
at
KC -1

Green Bay
at
Dallas no line yet

no line on the Dallas/Green Bay game yet...maybe the Jordy Nelson rib injury is making Vegas hesitant...

I'd take that New England bet even if the point total was 20+

Since -3 is even, KC is a home dog vs the Steelers?

Vegas must be riding that positive Louis/NYG mojo once the word on the street is he's pulling for the Steelers.........................

George...

Kansas City is a -1 favorite...

if you bet KC -1...
to win your bet...
they have to win by 2 or more points...

as a rule...
when figuring an opening line...
the book makers usually awards 3 to 4 points for homefield advantage...
meaning Vegas thinks playing at your own house is worth 3-4 points...

if Pittsburgh and New England were equals...

the line would be:

NE
at
Pitt -3 or 4

Pitt
at
NE -3 or 4

Pitt
&
NE
on a neutral field...they would be even...

home field is worth 3-4 points...crowd support...familiar surroundings...no flying...no traveling...no hotel...etc...

After the Green Bay game, OBJ punched a hole in the wall in the locker room, in his post game comments, he said "Us going to Miami was good for the team because it created a distraction"............................what?

Also, in other news, Joey Porter got arrested after the Steelers game, apparently that turd is a coach on the Steeler staff.

What a bag of hammers he is.

And Big Ben was seen in a walking boot after the game, guess along the way during that massacre he got hurt...............but the warrior that he is, he's already stated he'll be ready to go on Sunday vs the Chefs.

Is it Saturday night yet?

He was hurt on the last series. The announcers were critical of the Steelers coaching staff for not calling a play that was low risk. How about why he was even in the game??

It's premature to label the Falcons as anything other than a one season wonder. We shall see in the next week(s). However, it can be legitimately claimed they had one of the greatest offensive seasons in the history of the NFL. Lead the league in points scored (more than 500), 99 ahead of second place NEP. Matt Ryan had a (possible) MVP season, throwing for 38 TDs against only 7 interceptions, totaling just under 5000 yards, giving him the #1 QB rating in the league. Net points were second in the league, behind only NEP.

Defense was subpar but good enough, at least so far. Given so many years of sad endings, I remain cautiously optimistic about their playoff prospects. But they deserve credit, regardless, for a spectacular offensive display.

Ned...when you average 34 points a game...you don't need much of a defense...^&grin...still...while their defense is not very good...if you throw out the loss to the Eagles game...the other 4 losses were only by a combined total of 13 point...all close games...so they can definitely score and keep it close...at least you got home field against Seattle...nobody wants to play at their house...

The Steelers coaching staff needs to have it's heads examined. No way Big Ben should have been in a won game at that point. No common sense what-so-ever, just a plain, stupid decision to let him come back onto the field. -- Al

That was mentioned on the post-game show. Terry Bradshaw commented that it's not necessarily a sign of a serious injury, but that it helps to keep his ankle immobilized and it helps with any swelling. He said he'd worn a similar device or soft cast, for the same reasons. I think Rothlisberger'll be fine for next week.

Exciting games ahead...

Prost!
Brad

The Patriots beat the Texans in week four 27-0 with Jacoby Brissett at QB. I can only imagine what that score would have been if Brady was playing. A 16 point spread does not seem like enough points for this weekend's game. I also think New England could probably score 45 points alone, surpassing the current over/under of 44.5.

Agree on a couple of fronts:

1. Porter still has not grown up personally. I think he has done a great as a linebackers coach and hope he gets a second chance as professionally he is doing well. He needs to get his personal behavior under control. All of that said, if he loses his job due to this incident, that is fine too. You got to pay the price for your actions.

2. Yes, stupid that Ben was in. Good news, no injury according to ESPN, boot is off, back to normal after an MRI - I think we avoided stepping in it if you know what I mean.

3. Prediction - Steelers need to do what they did in the thumping of the Chiefs in the regulars season - A. Offense needs the same quick start as it seemingly fuels the defense. B. Crack Travis Kelce early in the game like the first round so he doesn't want to come across the middle to catch the ball. That formula worked, I don't see any differences. A Slow start will spell trouble as Andy Reid has had 2 weeks to prep for the Steelers.

TD

first time I watched Atlanta all year...

they got some big time offense...

fast receivers...run good routes...good hands with Ryan's accuracy...

if Dallas can squeak by Green Bay...they can't handle Atlanta's receivers...

the holding call on Hestor's big return seemed to doom Seattle...

that was huge...and 84 yard penalty...that turned into a safety and then a TD...

that really turned the momentum of the game...
