Nfl season 2017-2018 (5 Viewers)

The coaching carousel has begun, with the Bears, Raiders, Lions and Colts (so far) having fired their head coaches.

According to Jason Lacanfora of CBS Sports

With the list of up-and-coming coordinators looking slim, and particularly with so many young offensive minds already snapped up as head coaches before many expected, there is a dearth of talent available in that regard. Instead, I expect the hottest competition will be for a small group of men who are coming off strong seasons as coordinators and/or position coaches who already have ample experience as head coaches: Josh McDaniels of the Patriots, Pat Shurmur of the Vikings, Jim Schwartz of the Eagles and, from the Steelers, offensive line coach Mike Munchak and offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

I would like to see Garrett...Marinelli and Linehan in that list...they gotta do something to improve their anemic offense and lousy secondary...

Mike:

When I was home in Texas last week the mood of most of the fans and hosts on sports-talk radio clearly echoed what you are saying.

If you do not win with that type of offensive talent then the blame has to go somewhere else, in this case I think it is the coaches.

Reports are that Jon Gruden has been signed to a 10 year contract worth $100 million to coach the Raiders. Good Lord. -- Al

there was an early rumor that the owners were gonna give him a piece of the pie in his contract...
maybe 1%...
but then I heard they backed out on that idea as not to set precedent...

WOW, interesting article on the Pats today on espn. Trouble in paradise, who knows if all true, but something is brewing. End of day, Pats are true professionals, so I am sure (unfortunately for me) that it will not affect their play.

It's all the talk in NY sports radio today. The rumor is that if Belichick leaves he will go to the Giants.

If the Patriots let Belichick go, they are idiots. Boy would I love to see the Giants turned over to Belichick. He is, in my opinion, the greatest coach in NFL history. He has completely eclipsed Lombardi (who, like Belichick, was a coordinator for the Giants before going on to fame as a head coach). Tom Landry was the Giants defensive coordinator at the same time Lombardi was the offensive coordinator, and both left at the same time to coach the Cowboys and Packers, after they had won a title with the Giants as coordinators. Belichick was the defensive coordinator and assistant head coach under Parcels, and won two championships. Both times the Giants were left with incompetents to replace their head coach who retired right after the three famous coordinators left (Ali Sherman and Ray Handley). The coordinators we lost went on to win north of ten combined titles as head coaches. It would be unbelievable to see Belichick come back to the Giants!!! But I just can't see the Patriots ownership being that stupid. Kraft is too smart to let Belichick go.

I read an article this morning that Belichick never wanted to trade Garoppolo...
and was irate that Kraft over rode him and demanded the trade...

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...ar-belichick-furious-demoralized-after-trade/

That is the one I read. In all respect to Brady, he has been one of the best ever, but good lord, why would you stand in the way and not be a part of building your legacy by helping to build your replacement.........Major Ego I guess.

Not that it matters a hill of beans, but if all this is true, I have lost a little for Brady, especially the nuttiness of that trainer, that is downright weird.

Everyone’s skills eroded over time. You can try to push it away but eventually time will have its due. Instead of making a cold, calculated business decision, Kraft let his emotions rule his decision making, if the reports are true. Even the great Montana was traded to make way for youth. Kraft has done his team a great disservice.

It's not a question of them letting him go, it's more a question of whether he'll up and quit or if this is the last year of his contract and he won't sign on for another few years as no one seems to know his contract status.

All they were talking about today on Sports radio was how Kraft stuck his nose in on this and told BB to trade Jimmy G and how he was not to trade Brady, Kraft wants him to be a Patriot for life.

If this is true, this is the second time he meddled, the first time was with Parcells and we all know what happened there, he went to the Jets. The Patriots won 5 Super Bowls by being cold and running things very business like with zero loyalty to any one player, so why the 180 for Brady? If they traded him in the off season, who knows what sort of haul they could have gotten, then sign Jimmy G and they'd be in business for another 5 to 10 years. This bone headed trade with the 49ers where they traded away a franchise QB for a lousy 2nd round pick has Kraft written all over it, BB is not that ****ing dumb.

Belichick covets that Giants job, so who knows.

As the saying goes, all things end badly or they wouldn't end.

This dynasty has to come to an end at some point; it is what it is, the last time this team went into the playoffs with a huge distraction hanging over their heads was Deflategate.......................and we all know how that ended up.

I way, way overacted to Deflategate, so I'm not going to lose any sleep over this, I made a mountain out of a molehill regarding Deflategate, all for nothing in the end.

One thing that was floated on talk radio was that he was trolled by his sources and that none of this is true.

That's a load of crap; personally, I think this story has legs and Kraft once again has screwed the pooch.

As one host pointed out today, McDaniels has interviewed for the Giants job; IF he is offered the job and does not take it, then BB is as good as gone, Louis will lose his **** and McDaniels will be promoted to HC of the NEP.....................

Louis...
I hope he doesn't go to the Giants...
I don't want to face him twice a year...^&grin
I think he would be a total inspiration to all the players on any team he goes to...
I think the players would play their hearts out for him...
they all know he's a winner...

I'll give you Garrett...Marinelli and Linehan for him...
I'll even throw in Dan Bailey...
and Dez too...

I wouldn't trade Belichick for Roger Stauback in his prime, Emmit Smith and the present Cowboys offensive line.{sm4}

Lombardi reincarnated...

he will bring out the best in the players on any team...

The part I do find amusing in this is how the NY media has **** all over Belichick the past decade, accusing him of cheating several times, yet now they are willing to roll the red carpet for him to come and take over their broken toilet of a team.

So the same guy who is a cheater is also the answer to their football prayers?

Really?

What a bunch of clowns.

We're New Englanders Mike; we make mountains out of mole hills.

Ponder this; Garappolo threw 5 INTS in 5 starts, right? Yet people around here are hailing him as the one who got away, a sure fire HOF lock..............Brady threw 6 INTS in his last 6 games and people around here are crying that he's falling off a cliff, he's 40 and time catches up to everyone.

You saw the Patriots/Steelers game, right? Where Brady marched the team down the field and scored the go ahead TD; he threw three lazers to Gronkowski, I can name two, maybe three QB's who could have made those throws and none of them are Garappolo......................

That is what I hate about sports coverage nowadays, everything is to the extreme.

The Patriots lose a game and it is all over, they will be so bad the rest of the way that they will have the number one pick in the draft. The Niners win a couple of games and they are going undefeated for the next 5 years. Brady throws an interception and his HOF chances are gone, Garappolo throws a touchdown and he is going to make the 49er faithful forget Montana.

give the man his props George...he's 5-0 with a team that was 1-10...he's brought life to San Fran...hope to a franchise on life support...Jags and the Rams are good defensive teams...I was surprised Kraft him go myself...you probably were a little too...not really fair to compare him (or anybody) to Brady...I bet his jersey sales are going through the roof...
