Nfl season 2017-2018 (1 Viewer)

That's not necessarily true. There will be good ones and bad ones; it's in the nature of things.

See this article from ESPN about last year's signings, http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/22113900/best-worst-nfl-free-agent-signings-2017-offseason

There is only one name on the list that was part of a championship, Alshon Jeffery. And even he only cost them 1 year at $9.5 mil. A far cry from some who receive many times that without even getting their new team to a Super Bowl.

Louis...
I'm glad you guys traded JPP to Tampa Bay...
got him out of the NFC East so I won't have to see him twice a year....
even with a half a hand full of fingers...
he has been a nightmare for too long...
I really wish the Cowboys could have gotten him...
with all the compensatory picks from losing so many in free agency last year...
Leary...Church...Carr and Claiborne...
we got the maximum in compensatory picks...
4 of them in 2018...
so we can do some trading now having 10 picks in the 2018 draft...
but if we couldn't get him...
again...I'm glad he is out of the East...
seems like he went cheap...
basically for a 2018 3rd round pick...

Mike,

When he’s healthy he’s a beast, but JPP has been injury prone over the last 3-4 years. The Giants got $19.5 million in cap relief next year, and I guess that as much as the third round pick was the reason for the trade. It makes you wonder, does this mean the Giants intend to take Chubb with the second pick in the draft?

They said they're not trying to shop him. However, he's starting to wear thin on the owner.

They want two #1's for him.

Hey, good luck with that nonsense.

What's Opie going to do without him, the halfwit that he is.

I heard that today. The afternoon hosts thought that a lot of contending teams would be interested as it’s a lower pick for them.

Not sure about giving up TWO #1 picks; #1's are #1's, the Patriots between losing theirs in 2015 and trading away theirs last year are now suffering with a lack of young top end talent on the roster, specifically the defense..............

George:

Great post. Most teams will not give up their picks these days no matter what they get in return. The Patriots were able to weather the loss of #1's. Most franchises' fan bases also reject the idea. The Niners are still taking grief for simply trading out of their first round pick (2nd overall) and the jury is still out on that one.

The Cowboys released Dez Bryant? Why wouldn't they trade him?

They cut him because he wouldn't take a pay cut; he's an old 29, has had a few leg injuries, he's lost a step, maybe two and the only route he can run now is a slant.

I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole.

George...

there are a lot of analysts talking about what a good fit he would make with NE...I dunno...
Brandin Cook was a huge surprise for me...he gets 1,000 yards a year whether it's Brees or Brady...
really surprised to see NE release him...
but...
you gotta have money...
and I'm sure he freed some up...

I think Bryant has years left in him as an average receiver with a huge heart...
but I'm glad they released him...
their salary cap budget was dismal...
and I think Bryant has seen his best years...

Jason...

I'm sure they would have welcomed a trade...
if anyone offered...
his possible release has been a story for months...
other teams knew this...
I have not read one story about a team approaching the Cowboys to trade him...
Jerry probably waited longer than he wanted...

I just heard on ESPN that he led the league in "drops" last year. They also said that Jones was willing to put up with his antics so long as he produced. Once his production faded so did Jerry's support.

Mike,
The Patriots need help on the defensive side of the ball; they had zero pass rush last year, the interior of their D Line was soft vs the run, their linebackers outside of Hightower are slow and can't cover anyone and they can use help in the secondary too.

Brady lit up the vaunted Iggles defense for 505 yards passing and 33 points, but the Patriots defense got torched by a tomato can back up QB, offense is the least of their worries, then need to get younger and faster on defense, plain and simple.

that's true...he did lead the league in drops...

but I don't know who said that about Jones...

Jones had to be talked into dumping Dez as far as every story I read and listened to on this said...
he and Dez both say they had an "almost father and son" relationship...
Jones is loyal to a fault...
but he will act when he thinks it's best for the team...
Demarcus Ware...Emmitt Smith...DeMarco Murray...
he dumped them all...
and Jones was the only one on the staff who wanted to keep him...
he was out voted...or at least talked into it...

Dez was...is... a passionate guy...
plays with his heart instead of his head...
and that's a good thing sometimes...
but it can be very disruptive to a team sport that needs to be "united"...
pretty demonstrative on the sideline showing frustration in the game plan or himself...
not quite an OBJ...at least as far as antics...and definitely production for that matter...
but disruptive...

it was the right move...
Dez was overpaid even if he produced at a high level...
salaries are setting new precedents...
totally out of hand...

George...

all true...Brady didn't lose the SB...the defense did...

I honestly believe that Brady is so accurate...

that he can make an average WR...a Pro Bowler...

George...
we picked up Cameron Fleming from you guys...
what do you think of him?
can he block?

Nope, he did everything he could to win that game, even after the strip sack he marched them down the field for one last shot.

I like the ex Raiders and Iggles/Bills WR's they picked up, plus Edelman is coming back as it Mitchell, they are fine on offense.

Fleming was a very good back up tackle here, he got plugged in due to injuries and did well, our O Line coach is incredible, he mixes and matches guys as needed, he was a good player here...................

Bay Area news and sports talk has the Niners as a front runner to sign Dez. As a Niner fan I would be ok with signing him so long as it was at the right price.
