George "Quick has looked very pedestrian" when have you learned to talk like that? Now if you threw in a few colorfull curse words I would have understood.
The Kings are favored but the way things have been going the Rangers could take the cup just as easy.
Did I see this correctly the cheapest seat at Madison Square Garden when the Rangers come home is over $1200? That,s a lot of tiger tanks!
Gary

Gary,

Not only is that a lot of Tigers but probably a couple of Hockey Jerseys too.

I had heard that the prices were equivalent to the prices for the Super Bowl that was held in our area this year.

I think George has been hanging around me too long {eek3}

I give the Rangers a good to very good chance of winning this, they are on a roll and they have a world class goalie who can steal a series for you.

Quick has looked very pedestrian in these playoffs, he's given up some very soft goals; if the Rangers can win one in LA, they've got a great shot at winning it.

They've won some huge games on the road, three in Pittsburg and two in Montreal; Montreal is almost impossible for a visitor to win at in the playoffs, the Rangers did it twice, something the Bruins could not do.

The Rangers have proven they are the best team in the East and their future looks bright regardless of how this plays out, the Bruins and Penguins are going the other way while the Rangers are trending upwards.........................

Quick has faced three of the best teams in hockey. The Hawks are one of the highest scoring teams. So it will be interesting to see how he plays against the Rangers. The entire Hawks series and the playoffs in general have been an aberration for the Kings. They were the lowest scoring team to enter the playoffs and are the highest scoring team in the playoffs. I expect them to settle back into a low scoring, close style of play against the Rangers. Lots of 3-2 and 2-1 games. That's really Kings-style hockey and not the shootouts they played so far.

I think the low scoring style may benefit both teams. Both of these goalies are capable of winning 1-0 games even if they get peppered by shots.

Regardless of what teams he's faced, he's given up some very soft goals; soft goals are soft goals whether it's the Blackhawks of those tomato cans from Buffalo you're playing.

He'd better get his act together as the guy at the other end of the ice has been spectacular all playoffs long..............

Game one is in the books, Rangers blow a 2-0 lead and lose 3-2 in OT.

The Kings are just relentless, they keep coming and coming and coming, they've got three superstars on their team, Doughty is a beast.

Rangers need to put this one behind them and move on to game two.

I think their team speed took the Kings by surprise a bit, this was their game to steal and they didn't get it done.

Could be an epic series........

Yes, this was the game and they let it slip away. A poor clearance cost them in the end. They - to state the obvious - need one of these two games.

Not really; in the 2011 finals, the Bruins lost the first two in Vancouver, won the next two at home, lost again in Vancouver, won again at home and forced a game seven, which they won 4-0.

Get it to a game seven and anything can happen.

That said, the Kings are a very, very good team, just solid from top to bottom, they made a great trade and added a nice piece (as did the Rangers).

That was a great game one, we'll see how it plays out.

Decent game one. The Rangers had a bit of jump in their step early, but the Kings ground them down with a ton of hits. NY had something like 14 shots in the first period then only 13 for the rest of the game including OT. It was prototype Kings except for some careless turnovers. Getting stronger as the game progressed. That bodes well for the rest of this series if the Rangers were rested but still couldn't finish. Lundqvist kept them alive in the third period when the Rangers were getting run out of the building. Quick didn't face as many shots but made some huge saves on several breakaways. Kopitar hasn't shown up since the Ducks series. He's due to break out soon. Lundqvist gave up a ton of rebounds, but the Kings didn't have much net presence to take advantage. All the shots were coming from outside except for Clifford's goal. I bet that changes in the next game and we will see Brown and Gaborik around the net.

Is it just me or does it seem like a long wait to game 2?

Might have been a long wait, but it was worth it, another classic game.

Once again, the Rangers blow a two goal lead, not once but twice and fall in OT 5-4.

Have to give the Kings credit, they just keep coming and coming, never give up, seems like they thrive on adversity.

They are the first team in Stanley Cup playoff history to win three games in a row after trailing in each one by two goals.

Rangers had their chances to put the game away and couldn't, Nash on the doorstep and couldn't elevate the puck comes to mind.

Looked like goalie interference to me on the third Kings goal, but the foghorn they blare after each goal must have distracted the refs.

I love the way hockey players talk; Pierre interviewing the guy who got the game winner "Yeah, Koavie got the puck to me and I shot it at the net, Brownie was right there and tipped it in"................Koavie, Brownie, Quickie, Doughtie, Simsie, Doakie, Smartzie......................must be a Canadian thing.............

Great game last night. The Kings haven't led for a single second in this series and are still up 2-0. That has to be crushing for the Rangers. The Kings also haven't played their best hockey yet. I think the Chicago series took a bit out of them. They are a great road team. So I don't expect going back to NY to be a huge factor. Anything is possible but the Rangers have to win four out of five now including two in LA. That's a tough nut.

As a longtime Ranger fan, my opinion might be a little colored, but it is frustrating to have the Rangers outplay the Kings in just about every period and still be down 0-2. The Rangers have just about assisted on every Kings goals by panicking when threatened. Throw away passes up the middle, falling down givaways ,no way you can blame the Rangers goalie as he has had minimal help out front.. Michael

Understand completely how you feel, shades of the 2011 Stanley Cup finals; the Bruins outplayed the heavily favored Canucks in both games, lost the first one 1-0 on a goal with about a minute left, lost the second game 2-1 on an fluky overtime goal.

The Rangers are a very fast team, but the Kings are bigger and are wearing them down, much like the Bruins did to Vancouver in 2011.

Not over by a long shot; that said, the Rangers need to win the next two, they are a very good road team as well, but they need to win the next two or it's over. If they do, it's 2-2 and a best 2 out of 3 series from there, they only need to win one game in LA, not two....................

It is frustrating but the Kings are very good team. They're typical of those teams who don't really get going until the last part of a game. It doesn't matter if you lead going into the Eighth Inning, Fourth Quarter or Third Period, only when the game is over. You have to hand it to the Kings, a two goal deficit doesn't matter.

Coming back like they did in the Conference Final and the first two games is impressive. It has to make at least a little bit of an impression on the Rangers.

Good call George. That was one of the best games I have seen in a long time.

A must win game for the Rangers tonight. Interesting to see if the Kings' luck and will hold up. Usually the team playing a must win game comes out with a stronger effort. The Kings really haven't brought their A game so far in this series. I don't know if that is because of anything the Rangers are doing or just the playoff grind taking its toll. Regehr is apparently ready to play again. He was injured early in the playoffs. He's a great penalty killer and steady puck handler on D but hasn't played in weeks. Sutter would have to shake things up and scratch someone like Greene, however, who scored a goal in the last game and has a more physical presence. I doubt he does that given the roll they are on, but Sutter sometimes does unpredictable things. The Kings have generally played better on the road than at home. If they get one of two in NY, they are in good shape.

btw: the two most annoying commercials that I've had to watch endlessly during the entire playoffs are the beer commercial where the former frat-like guy gets to play ping pong with Arnold and sing along with some band (what a treat for a "non-actor" to hang out with celebrities! Now drink more beer and it might happen to you) and the satellite TV commercial about the guy who is married to a puppet. The latter is particularly creepy. The one where the puppet performs an enticing dance to distract the guy from his TV is downright Chucky-like in its weirdness. Imagine having to watch that in a middle of a hockey game after about half a dozen beers.

That Bud Light commrcial "whatever something" I just don,t get it. It started with the superbowel. I thought I seen another new commercial with the same tagline and again I,m lost.
I believe it was in the last series Chicago at LA. Who was that guy that played the National Anthem on a guitar? I caught the end of it and thought it was a total disrespect of our anthem.
That Darrell Sutter is one of a kind. I would be afraid to approach him. But he sure gets the job done.

The Bud Light commercial (or should I say series of commercials are there are about 253 of them) is annoying and yes, the guy married to the puppet is creepy on a number of levels.

And Gary, that was Slash, former lead guitar player of Guns and Roses and yes, that was idiotic, but so LA; hey, let's have a guy murder the national athem on his guitar. And I love all the hollywood so and so's they show in the crowd during the finals, 99% of which wouldn't know if a puck is inflated or stuffed.

The best one is the one they do in Chicago, they always have a WWII vet out on the ice with the guy and whoever the guy is who sings the national athem at MSG, he needs a chin strap for that rug he wears, either that, or close the eyes on whatever animal he's got sitting on his head.

I'll take Pia Toscano in her Kings jersey over Slash any day. She must have been getting her nails done or something on that day and they had to find someone at the last minute. Slash reminds me of Cousin It only dirtier looking. My 4-year old thought he was the team mascot.
