NHL Playoffs (1 Viewer)

My Kings are out of the playoffs but still hard at work. In what must be one of the weirdest promotions that I've seen, they are selling videotaped father's day greetings from the players. You can pay $30 to send your father a generic greeting from a player apparently with his name included. Like one of those souvenir key chains that has all the most popular names. For $100 you can get a "personalized" greeting.

I would rather have my kids pay and have a star named after me. I'm sure you heard those commercials.:)

Vegas looks like they are ready to cave. No puck luck again tonight. They came out flying but nothing doing. Holtby has been the better goalie so far in this series. The Caps have choked away some 3-1 series leads but Vegas looks like a prize fighter that has taken a big one on the chin. If the Caps win, it would be great to see them clinch at home in game six. Nothing like winning the cup on home ice.

Neal rifling one off the far post with the entire net open is the true definition of no puck luck; if he shot that puck from the beach trying to hit the ocean, it would have clanged off of a lighthouse.

Looks like the clock has struck 12:01 for the LVGK.

Washington was team of destiny when they finally got over that Pittsburg hump, not to mention it's come full circle in that they have done this vs Fleury, a guy who tortured them for years while he was with the LET'S GO PENS!!...............reminds me of the RS vs the MFY's in the 2004 ALCS.................still far from over as Washington has a history of blowing things painfully in the playoffs, so we'll see what shakes out.

Boy, the bandwagon is overloaded to the point of bursting here in the DC area. The hockey fans have come out of the woodwork. Had no idea there were so many of them.:rolleyes2: With a 3-1 lead, any choke now will lead to mass disaster as thousands of lemming-like fans stream into the Potomac. Oh well, I guess after all these decades, the true fans (and I know a few) deserve to be on this high but not sure they enjoy the company of their bandwagon buddies. Good luck, Caps, and...git 'er done. -- Al

Still routing for a Caps Choke, I just hate Wilson. On other hand, they are playing well and Fleury is not. Vegas's curtain I think is inevitably coming down, probably in next game, they looked exhausted and exasperated. While I will be happy for Ovech and Ochee (sp.), the amount of moronic homer fans who have never heard of hockey will be unbearable in this area.

Sorry to the local fans but I honestly respect the Caps, if they win this out, they deserve it, I just will be sad to see Wilson get a Cup, he is just a thug.

My Kings scored a total of three goals on Vegas in a four game series. The Caps have scored 16 goals in four games. They are doing an outstanding job passing the puck across the crease to an open skater who is shooting off the pass. Fleury is being hung out to dry by his defense. Vegas tried a speed game with their defense trying to be more aggressive. It didn't work. They are getting burned on the back end with odd man rushes. Kuznetsov has been fantastic moving the puck.

I thought it was funny that Caps "fans" got upset that Bryce Harper wore a Vegas jersey to the game. The guy was born and raised in Vegas, not DC.

Sometimes I wonder if fans think that all the players on their hometown teams actually come from the same city where their teams play.

Harper has been supporting the Vegas team all year, kind of teasing the Caps fans along the way. He was quoted as saying earlier this year that he thought it would be awesome if Vegas and DC squared off in the Finals. Caps fans and Harper have been jabbing back and forth all season, and it's mostly been just in good fun but there are some Cap fans (and Nat fans) who feel that anyone playing in DC should support the home team and that is where the semi-serious jabs are coming from. Not sure if anyone really cares who Harper roots for. I know I don't but I'm not a hockey fan either... -- Al

As one sports outlet put it:

"Maybe he’s just telling Nationals fans they should get used to seeing him in a different jersey."

{eek3} ...then again, if he wants $300-$400 million, that would be a good bet. -- Al

Every time I see that number I can't help but shake my head!

Let's hope the Caps bring home the Cup, at least that way DC will have something to smile about.

The Caps have three shots now to break their long-standing curse. I sort of hope it happens at home in game six. Nothing worse than a team winning the Cup on the road and all the fans there looking like their pet dog just died as they empty out of the place. The last time I can remember a team closing out at home was LA in an OT game. That was double-plus good since they not only won at home but on the final goal. The Caps start playing with fire though if they lose tonight.

We have to set through something called Panic! At the Disco before the game tonight. I'm sure George will love that. If you are down 3-1 in a series, do you really want someone named "Panic" doing the pregame nonsense? I guess Ed Grimley was not available to proclaim that they are as "doomed as doom can be."

Maybe the knights can get this clambrain in the suit of armor to play tonight, he can take Wilson out with his sword and Tom will be happy......................now they're firing catapults at Smoltzy..................what a show, maybe they can go on a cross country tour with this.................

I just watched that pregame show. One of the strangest things I’ve seen at a sports event, and a final at that. Las Vegas at its finest.

After Vegas gets a cheap goal to tie it, the Capitals get it right back on a power play goal, up 2-1 about halfway through the game....................

This one looks like it will go back and forth until the end.

Never thought I'd see it but the Caps have won. Congratulations to the club and to the long-suffering fans. Now, back to the TV to watch the fans burn DC down.{eek3} -- Al

Congrats Al! This is the first Washington sports championship since the Senators (excluding Georgetown), right?
