Hi Guys,

Here is one of our older dioramas which we have relocated to somewhere on the outskirts of Nuremberg as some of the ‘Party Faithful’ make their way to the rally grounds for their big day.

Leading the parade are a group of RAD (Reichsarbeitsdients), the Reich Labour Service... smartly polished shovels over their shoulder as they march past.

Making up the ‘onlookers’ are some old and new figures.
Filming the K&C march past is Leni Reifenstahl and two of her cameramen.

Hope you like it and enjoy your weekend,

Andy

If you like a parade how about the Free French, Brits and Americans marching into liberated Europe!

Over the years we've done many Diorama displays featuring the Allies liberating different parts of Europe I'm happy to say.
Best wishes and happy collecting,
Andy.

That is a wonderful diorama. I love the house and all the surrounding elements.
Thanks for sharing it!

Joe

Always like parades for the 'wow' factor and this one does not disappoint. Those gleaming shovels it seems could not be used other than for parade, presumably they had a second shovel for manual work. A cheap way of providing a weapon of war to the troops. Robin.

or for digging the graves of their millions of victims!

I've had this (heated) discussion with Andy a number of times over the years. I have never understood people who collect Nazi parade figures, any more than I understand people who collect Nazi uniforms and memorabilia. Frankly, Nazi parade figures disgust me. I collect wermacht and waffen SS figures because any diorama requires targets for the Allied troops, but watching those monsters happily march in a parade? No thank you. However, they are K&C's biggest sellers, so there are plenty of people who disagree with me.

And the SS were no monsters ??? I can show you a few pictures that prove the contrary. Remember what they did to the civilians in Russia and to civilians and allied troops in Europe ( executing prisoners in Normandy, ORADOUR, executing civilians and US troops in the Battle of The Bulge and the list goes on and on )
guy:(

As I stated they are targets for my Allied forces on my dioramas, were my Allied forces are turning these monsters into good nazis.

This is a diorama of a period in world history. Frankly it does look good. But it’s a diorama. Andy has every right to make it. Russians were no bargain either. Stalin killed and enslaved millions and nobody is getting bent out of shape about it.

I absolutely agree that Andy has the right to make this diorama, or collectors' right to collect parade Nazi figures. I also have the right to be completely disgusted by these figures. I happen to agree that Stalin was a monster on the same scale as Hitler. I also do not recall ever seeing K&C make any KGB or NKVD parade figures marching in front of figures of Stalin and the Polit Bureau. If I had, I would have raised a similar objection.

Really! I won't have a figure of Stalin or his KGB terrorists! Of course we all know the atrocities committed by the Russians under Stalin, the Japanese and many others. Why glorify any of them with parade and rally dioramas?

I've always refrained from sharing my own opinion re. these types of discussions, but I just have to weigh in this time. I'm not a big fan of the parade scenes myself, but each person appreciates history in different ways. War is ugly and regardless the nation or its political views (or atrocities), let each person make up their own mind regarding what they like to collect. K&C, as other quality toy soldier companies, offers a diverse collection of themes, battles, and military armies not glorifying one over the next, but creating historic scenes accurate to a specific time in history. I would personally hate to see the Political Correctness Police start determining what is or is not appropriate. As an example, Waffen SS good (if pictured in battle), Berlin Political Rally 1938 bad, it goes on and on and on and on...

Respectfully, if you don't like them, don't buy them. It's as simple as that.

If that is true, that these are K&C's best sellers, then that is very disturbing. If I walked into somebody's house and saw this I would think what in the hell is wrong with this person?

Last time i checked the German RAD Reich Arbeits Dienst were the ones who built the Autobahns (Highways).
As an organization they were not directly connected to any war crimes.Whether members of the RAD left for other duties is another subject.
It is amazing that collectors (myself included) still collect military items from a country that lost 2 world wars !

Great discussion!

I enjoy reading everyone's point of view...Even if I only agree with some of them.

That's also one of the great things about history...You can read and learn so much from the events and personalities of the past that is so relevant to our world today...

Toy soldiers and military miniatures in addition, have their small part to play in our understanding of what happened previously and, importantly, how and why they happened.

Best wishes and happy collecting [no matter what you collect],
Andy.

Are you talking about the Waffen (Fighting) SS or 1938 (Marching) SS?
