I’ve been adding more figures layer by layer to the back of this crowd scene. The fastest way that I am doing this is using melted plastic sprue to glue the figures. Almost done.
I finished adding the layers. Last layer was made up of brass pins glued with melted sprue to represent tiny heads. The back layers were painted in a slightly lighter greyish brown. The crowd scene was placed back into the diorama. The piece fitted snugly against the backdrop.
thanks for yr comments. I’m glad to be moving on with this project. The several crowd scenes are really the last portions of this piece but they have to be dealt with in stages.
I removed the base with figures to repaint the background again. Slabs of wood wee glued to the base to raise its height. The back portion of the base was painted.
these figs form part of a very large crowd scene. I have to reduce the amt of detail and time spent on them so as to focus attention to the foreground.
Here is the foliage on the side completed with some twigs. The purpose of the foliage is to hide the transition from base to the bkgd painting.
Here is the horseman done. Still working on the group scene. I’ve had to lengthen a nearby previously completed figure the cripple to accommodate the size changes.
y are too kind. I sculpt in this style specifically for this piece becos of the large crowd scene and the need for drastic foreshortening.
Here’s the completed mtd officer. I also added two more mtd horsemen and inserted these figs into the scene to test their placements.
