Raymond,

I do not think the AR stuff brings as much as the classic Trophy British Empire sets.

Hi Raymond and John

Spotted that one, no bids on it yet. I think John is right, the AR sets don't seem as popular as AZW, Sudan and Boxer.

Cheers

Hi John and Martin,

I am not sure why the ARW and ACW ranges should be any less popular than the AZW, Egypt/Sudan, Boxer Rebellion ranges etc.

Perhaps, non-US collectors are less familiar with the history of the American Revolutionary War and the Civil War.

Kind Regards, Raymond.:)

Perhaps it has more to do with what is " IN " (or as I like to say "flavour of the month") At the moment AZW and the Sudan figures seem very popular from a whole host of manufactureers.

Scott,

My deleted post has appeared in your post.

I must have deleted my post after you started writing your post with the quote.

Perhaps it has something to do with the AR stuff being produced very late in the Trophy catalog (different bases and paint style to some degree) and the Empire sets being produced by Trophy during its heyday. I have always considered those middle production years as vintage Trophy. Just a thought.

I don't know too much about the American Revolution, but that Molly Pitcher set is to die for. I bought one in 2000. It is my only ARW set from Trophy.
The strategy gentlemen is to buy low and sell high. Chasing the popular sets is expensive. Just now people will realize what beautiful Americana sets Trophy made and start pursuing them.

I think the bidding will pick up in the last couple of hours of the auction.

It is a very nice looking set.

Not everyone buys toy soldier sets (Trophy and otherwise) to sell later at a profit.

I intend to keep all my sets for my retirement pleasure.

Raymon,
My sentiments also. There's no way, barring TEOTWAWKI, that I'll pack those guys up and deport them!

I agree with you.
I buy Trophy because I like them.
But I also realize that chasing after the Boxer sets right at this moment is beyond me.

i have an extensive collection of arw sets . they are some of trophy's finest. some of the six figure sets have each figure in a slightly different pose. their colorful and make for nice setups. i am waiting to pick up knox's artillery battery which i had been searching years for. they made some nice wood rail fences that go good with the figures.i am still searching for a couple of mounted american dragoons. if anybody wants to part with yours let me know

Hi Martyn,

It has been listed for less than 24 hours and the bidding has been brisk.

There are still 9 plus days to go and it has reached just over 4x the start price.

But that is how Trophy goes on eBay......:(

Thanks, Raymond.:)

There are 2 "mystery" Trophy sets on eBay now with opening bids of GBP 40.00.

The sets are just called "Trophy Soldier Set".

It must be some sort of expensive "lucky dip".

Wow that is probably one of the least informative ebay listings I have ever seen.

I can see people clamoring all over themselves to pick up this gem(s) :D

When I asked this question

"Any chance of a description of the figures?
Thanks"

I got this reply

"Hi, yes descriptions will be coming asap - just waiting on the exact details from my supplier. Keep watching! Many thanks, Chris"

Hi Martyn,

He does have a rather unique way of listing items for auction.

That said, he sold a single figure Trophy ACW set recently.

This set and another similar one (from another seller) were discussed in this forum.

Thanks for putting the question to the seller.

Best, Raymond.:)
