This set has an interesting label which must be very early Trophy.

The seller has clearly stated she is not sure of the manufacturer of the figures.

Does anyone know if the figures are indeed very early Trophy productions by Len Taylor?

Thanks, Raymond.:confused::)

Hard to tell, Raymond...These figures look like transitional models from early thin ones to "bulky" classics...but maybe not Trophys at all ...Very early Trophies were sold w/o boxes (at least in the US) just wrapped in the tissues.
Good question for a Master himself :)

All the best.

Hi Raymond

I don't think the figures are early Trophy

Hi Martyn and Al,

Thanks very much for your replies.

I was just curious. My gut feeling is the figures are not Trophy.

Thanks again, Raymond.:)

I doubt they are Trophy.
I have some of their very ealy sets and no comparison.
I actually have a set of British in tropical dress with tartan pants that are not regulation. Len must have played around with some of the painting in the early days. The sculpting, however, is distinctive and these are not even close.
Still you never really know unless the maker authenticates.

It is Damian, but seems to be missing the three marching sailors

Cheers

I wondered about that, that is always an issue when no box present and its a large set. I also wonder though, since these sets were sold in all different formats if this is not just another variation?

Speaking of formats, I just came into a TD1 (not the later 1a), Zulu command set with the Wooden base Tent (with Trophy sticker on base), canvast, metal table, metal map, single helmet, 4 figures and a palm tree. I have not decided if I am keeping yet or recycling! Also as part of the lot was a Kitchner mounted on horse, no base and a single Kitchner attendant figure. I believe they are all circa mid 1980s.

Hi Tom

In the original TD1 E&TS set the figures have brown/tan bases and the set included a palm tree, the map on the table was also different to the AZW set. Any chance of some pictures?

Cheers

This seller has some interesting figures for sale

http://toys.shop.ebay.com/Toy-Soldi..._ipg=&_ssn=cloepalmtree&_trksid=p3911.c0.m282

Including

http://cgi.ebay.com/TROPHY-MODELS-Z...Toys_Games_ToySoldiers_EH&hash=item1c122932d8

The figure in this set is described as BRITISH MEDICAL OFFICER but is in fact the BUTCHER from set#BD3 - BUTCHER OF ISANDHLWANA.

Check out the sellers other listings, you may find something you like. I haven't got any Trophy horses that look lke the one shown in one of the pictures though

For info the second picture below is of my set

Cheers

Martyn:)
