It ultimately sold for $400 plus Martyn. I remember seeing one in Chicago about three years ago and the seller wanted around $180 for it and I thought that was too high. Well, aren't I the smart one ^&confuse

r***r strikes again 😳

I was looking at the piece too, but figured it was a goner when r***r was involved and another bidder double the bid near the end. I must admit to a bit of mischief, bidding up the price again so that r***r would have to pay more for the model. Holding my breath that he would take me out of the bidding, which he did. r***r, if you are on this board why don't you introduce yourself. I would love to see pix of your Trophy collection.

Guys....reading these recent threads on Trophy biddings...all I can say is that the referred mysterious biddier must have the deppest pockets I have ever seen/heard off when going out of ones way and into the checkbook to make sure to have a complete a range....Return on the investiment at these price levels must be very low.....holding my breath here that the market hes not gone heads on toes and all of a sudden you are better off on Trophy sets than on hedge funding....{sm2}{sm2}..Not a Trophy collector myself....just amused as to the sums envolved. I really wish for the market to be that high so that I can sell the few Throphy Zulu war British infantry and artillery I have and make a killing.....{sm4}{sm4}

r***r may not be one person because there are so many ways eBay can scramble a name. However, I do agree it's generally fruitless to bid when you see his name as a bidder.

I paid less for my Nile River Boat than r***r spent on the furniture makers wagon.🎉🤗

He may not have known about the auction. There's another on April 8 but no Trophy, which I find surprising.

A PW 1, Prince of Wales on Elephant, just sold on an Old Toy Soldiers Auction for $1,100 and that's before the buyer's fee!

Looks like some nice sets on the auction Brad. The Indian Army screw gun set very rarely turns up

Cheers

Martyn:)

They were some nice sets. Actually 2 PW-1's sold - the first one was the one with the tin fans. I knew it would go large, surprised by the second one at 900 and also surprised by an Elephant Gun team set at 600, I have seen a lot of those over the years, this one went pretty large. The Indian team is a nice set :)

The prices were a bit all over the place. A couple of the Sudan sets were expensive: Highland Band, $400. Town & Country sets were not cheap: the Fish Monger set went for $250, Fruit Vendor, the same, and Ice Cream Vendor, $250. Indian Gun Team (with two elephants), $600. On the other hand, the Naps were not that expensive. A lot of good prices there.

I was gobsmacked by the prices on the Vendor carts seeing how these were going in the low hundreds a year ago. The steam tractor selling for $1700 was a surprise too == that's $2,176 with the buyers fee!

I might consider selling my steam tractor if I was offered $2,000. I thought somewhere I read that only 66 copies were ever made.

The vans continue to go up in price. One just sold for $528 and another for $423. A good day for the seller.

Martyn,

I saw that: buyer's remorse or his wife hit him over the head.
