I think this is Meade and Chamberlain:

Yes, I agree to that!

This is definately Meade and Chamberlain, but the photo I saw, the figure on the left were identified as W.T Sherman, but that is also Meade.

The Sherman figure is seated. Please let me know if you'd like me to post a photo.

I'm pretty sure that the figure on the left pointing is listed in the "AeroArt Book" as Meade. In fact those were my figures. Love the painting style of the Russian figures, but they are not very historically accurate in my opinion. I'm not a big fan of the swords they use either. They are bent like a pirate's cutlass.

Ok, we seem to agree then, that this is Meade. I now understand why there was a misunderstanding earlier, because there is a mistake in the Aeroart St.Petersburg book (main book, hardcover ) on page 88, Meade and Sherman has switched place in the reference. By the way I got the Custer figure that is pictured on that page, and it is one of my all time favourites.

Is the Custer figure you’re referring to the mounted one with a guidon?

I think my confusion earlier was when I bought the figure it was listed as Meade. I no longer have the book so I can't check. I'll take your word for it. When it was re released as a Marco Polo set the description also lists him as Sherman, but that set also comes with the hat-less Meade figure. I think the bald figure is a better representation on Meade. The mounted Custer figure was also well done.

I think the issue had with the Custer mounted figure was that it was a 7th Cavalry figure, not a Civil War figure.

Yes, but the mounted figure as shown in the book, I think this was sculptored by Danilov, is certainly good. However this week there was another Custer figure for sale on ebay where he is mounted, and carrying his personal flag.
A great idea, and normally I would have payed blood to get this figure, but I think this one is so far from what Custer look like, and his personal style, that I let it go. When it comes to ACW figures, there has to be likeness.

Hi all,
Just got this one today after looking high and low for it for years. I wasn't collecting Russian figures yet when these magnificent knights were released a dozen years ago.
This is figure #EW4 from the St Petersburg Collection, Maximilian I Holy Roman Emperor, painted by Arsenyev Studio.

really great pick up Joe! Not one you see around too often!

Beautiful figure Joe! would honor any collection!
Ray

Thank you Ray! I'm so happy to have acquired it and so thankful to be able to enjoy such wonderful miniatures. It's amazing to me what human hands can create.

Thanks Zach,
What's really interesting about this piece is that all the ones I have seen are painted in a variety of different color schemes, no two being alike.

Just picked up a Roman Senator from AeroArt to add to my Romans (that imperial Rome dio got me wanting to add more to mine!) and the other is
Napoleon's Coronation. The casting is from Master Class and I am not sure who did the painting as I picked it up at an auction...

Napoleon seems to have thought rather Highly of Himself don't you think???
So Zach, when you say acquired by auction are you talking Ebay or auction houses etc.?
Ray

Auction house. That one came from vectis in the uk.

So Zach,
How do you find pricing and variety available thru the Auction Houses? when I say pricing I mean the final price paid after Commissions, taxes, shipping?
2nd, ever see "special" flats? not common sets?
Ray

Ray, you just have to read the fine print with each "auction house". The premiums are usually clearly listed, but what you have to be careful of is the shipping. When you add the ~15% commission plus European shipping, it can get crazy.

If I see some good flats, I'll definitely let you know!

Thanks Zach, I've thought about Victus for my flats and prints, I'll sign up.

I don't remember the actual commission, that was just an example...don't want you to buy based on that 15% I just mentioned
