View attachment 169196
What i shown on this figures is a splendid painting but innacurate
Here the full coat of arms of all the Plantagenet family

Yes - that is the Coat of Arms of Henry, 3rd Earl of Lancaster - who was the second son of Edmund. Not surprisingly, as the second son, he adopted this variation of the family's Coat - which shows, Gules 3 lions passant, guardant, Or, a baston azure ( 3 gold lions passant on red background with a bend of blue).
However, the father and first Earl of Leicester in this family - and his other son and grandsons - all adopted the family Coat - which showed " Gules, 3 lions passant guardant Or, with a label of 3 points azure - each point charged withg three fleur-de-lys, Or. ( i.e same red background and 3 lions passant - but with a label of 3 points having 3 fleur de lys in gold on each point.).
Hence my question on whom this differently painted sculpt is supposed to represent? - and IF it is intended as Henry Plantaganet, 1st Duke of Lancaster -(1281-1345), why is the heraldry on this piece showing neither of the two Coats of Arms of this family?
Sometimes - some Knights used different armorial Coats for jousting ( e.g The Black Prince) - so, my question is - is this another one???? Or has this very pretty figure been painted mistakenly???
Just interested to know - as I quite fancy a crack at painting that design on one of my castings at some point. It IS pretty!^&grin jb
