Retreat From Russia diorama finally done! (2 Viewers)

I just looked more closely at these photos - I absolutely love the effect of the canon in the front - it adds so much by "breaching" the borders of the diorama

Great work Joe! Thanks for sharing! Super cool.

Wow! That may be the best diorama I've ever seen, Joe. This is my favorite series to collect, as well. ...but mine are just on a shelf. :smile2:

Thank you so much Milo! I'm really glad you like it so much! - Joe
Absolutely brilliant :salute:::salute:::salute::

Congratulations on a really excellent presentation of your diorama. Something that will make it into public viewing sometime so others outside the forum will get to enjoy and be amazed by it.

I think we have similar tastes Zach because that was one of my favorite aspects to design and implement too! Thank you my friend, Joe

Holy cow Kurt, thank you my friend! The Retreat From Russian figures are my favorite FL pieces too. The figures really amaze me. Don't feel bad that your figures are "just on a shelf". They are some of the best stand alone soldiers ever made, IMHO. Ironically, I will buy many of the individual figures again once the diorama sells so I can have them back in my collection (where they will sit on a shelf):p:smile2:. I get inspired to make dioramas but typically do not keep them. I will bring this one to the Westcoaster if I don't sell it before then. Then you can see it up close. It's hard to capture the mood and all the details in photos. These things always present themselves better in person. Thanks again for your kind words, Joe

Joe,
You've really captured the desperation of the time, especially the soldier in the river. It is many hours spent getting it all right and you succeeded in that goal.

Joe,

I have to chime in too and comment on what an outstanding job you did with this! Spectacular,...…….. brilliant, ......….a true work of art...…...we're running out of phrases to adequately describe what you've created here.

The black backdrop adds a real sense of foreboding to everything. Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you very much Steve! Yes, you are right - many hours of work and I'm so glad you enjoy the final product. Thanks for expressing how you sense the time urgency in the layout.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to write such wonderful comments.:salute:: I like to photograph dioramas with a black back drop (like a photographer's curtain). It works well with the shadow effects I try to create as I fiddle around with experimenting with ways to try to make things look more realistic. I think I neglected to mention the title of the composition....it's "The Battle of Berezina River November 1812". Thanks again, Joe

Mate it looks superb I think the pictures don't do it justice would be brilliant in real life thank you for so many pics and sharing.
