An outstanding addition to your AWI collection Mark. Very nice indeed.

This is one of your best, Mark. Great transition of fore- to background, excellent overlay of the figure bases and good color. And that is just the technical aspect. Good composition. In my opinion, the birdseye pictures are the weakest and the last photo is hence my favorite. The only critical comment I would have is that some of the pictures look “empty” - more a reenactment than war. The reason is that I would expect much more activity around a battery of guns. There have been plenty of discussions on the forum of how many individuals are generally needed to man a gun and that generally manufacturers fall short in providing the exact number. Beyond that, a second gun and crew might be fun …. Horses in the background?

Great series of photos. Really like the groundwork you created for the base. - I've purchased these sets but not opening till Christmas.

Hello Mark,
I agree with this review of this amazing diorama that you have posted for us to enjoy. That the statement that some the picture look empty on the birds eye pictures was kind of what I also thought when I reviewed them. Maybe if there would have been another gun or some infantry support would have really made your diorama look more like a battle scene. Regardless it is another great composition and the smoke was a great idea also.

Thanks
Howard

Yes, thanks Howard. I totally agree with the critique that you and Andanna offer! I had used a 2nd cannon and some other figures in my original scene but the figures weren't artillery men so I scraped the idea. I thought it looked a little "too busy" and took away from the main action. That was most likely because I tried using non-artillery figures that didn't adequately fit the scene. This RI artillery set are the only artillery pieces I have.

When those other AWI artillery sets come out in 2026, I'll take what I've learned from doing this one and do a better, more accurate scene.

I appreciate all the feedback I get here and like it when others can contribute suggestions for improving things. I, for one, strive for excellence in all things so receiving both good and negative input from my fellow forum members is always helpful.

Love the last photo in particular. Really impressive - I get my sets next week and you have filled me with more anticipation.
