Rugby world cup 2007 (1 Viewer)

I,ve never been to the HK sevens ,but i,ve been to the
Wellington 7,s a few times, I cant say theirs too much
wathing of rugby mind you .Its more about watching the
antics in the crowd and punishing that evil beast known as the liver !

Well done Tonga. I am relieved we won, but it did keep me on the edge of my seat. It cannot be good for my health all this anxiety. Good luck England for Samoa

Damian

Tom Russell???? Never heard of him.
Thanks for the "heads up" guys. I'll look out for him next time I'm browsing in some airport CD shop.
What's his thing? Jazz? Blues? Rock?

Tom Russell is a "musical story teller" . His songs have a folk/country/working man flavour to them. The Man From God Knows Where is almost an opera because it tells a story--the story of the Russell family from the time it left Ireland and Scandinavia up to the time of Toms father.

Sirsydney
I think I have most of Tom Russel's albums. He is a great American troubador in the spirit of Woodie Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen. I do own Man from God Knows Where. It is fantastic especially the song Orphan Train. I think his last album Love and Fear is one of his best.
I also really like his song Muhammed Ali.
A great songwriter who will I am sure never have a Top 40 hit song

Well ,we beat the scots 40 - 0 at [they had rested a few players to
concentrate on beating italy and advancing to the quarters].
fairly patchy performance according to the news reports
with plenty of improving to do.
I,ll have to take their word for it as it was played at 3 in the morning here and I had turned of the alarm :(.

Don't worry Vandillay. Playing some of the less powerful teams and resting you'r A team can be difficult. I mean we played our second team against England and saved our best team for the USA.:). Just kidding there all you English supporters. Seriously Tonga gave me the fright of my life.

Hopefully it will be SA vs NZ in the final.

I watched the replay of NZ vs Scotland. I could not tell the jersies apart. Why did NZ wear that jersey. It looked very similar to the Scottish jersey and was quite confusing.

Here is some one complaining about the Hakka. I actually enjoy the Hakka. It is one of the highlights of watching NZ.

Maybe the Scots thought they would play better if they dressed like the All Blacks:D
Steve

They had to wear that strip as the all black strip was deemed to close to
scotlands ,so they wore the away strip [which as youve said also looked pretty similar, so didnt make much difference:confused: ] But I believe they have been told a similar clash of jerseys will be avoided in future.
As for the haka it probably is used to much in this country all sorts of teams
use it and some look pretty daft [basketballers etc] , if people on the
whole dont like watching it maybe they should drop it .
But its got a long history with NZ rugby so I think it would be a bit of a shame.

I assume the matches are still being played, which teams still have a crack at all the marbles? I'm assuming the good old USA was soundly thrashed.

You know what they say about assuming:). Actually the US played England pretty tough only losing 28-10. While the US hasn't won a match, they have played a respectable game.
Steve

I suppose that isn't a total wipeout, but I did note that South Africa, stomped the tea out of England 36 to zip, so I guess they aren't very creditable. Oh well, I think rugby ranks just ahead of curling as a sport over here, so just fielding a team is probably a good thing.

This is subtle BBC bias. Instead of saying the USA has really done well to be beaten so narrolwly by both England and Samoa who are comparitively major rugby countries they say Samoa struggle to beat USA. Perhaps they should say USA nearly beat Samoa. A slightly different empahsis provides a different perspective.
