Nicely done Randy. I like your use of the Chinese symbols - they really add to the Oriental feal of the photo.

With the recent murder at the House of Heavenly Pleasure, security is heightened especially in some of the less than savory parts of town . . . . Mike

Very nice Mike (any Koi in that pond ? :D ) and Randy. This is turning into a great thread. Looking forward to seeing what is next.

Thank you Scott. Since I am just getting started with this collection, its a challenge to come up with different ideas since I only have a few sailors and only one Chinese figure to work with . . . . . . . . Mike

I love it--passing the torch/thread of the story. I too am challenged by a lack of Chinese figures:D I guess you and I will work on that this year. I have all the USN except the 3 seated for the launch and no marines yet. Your backdrop for that photo was truly inspired.

Beautiful job, gents. i am enjoying both the images and the storyline. Keep it coming; I'm looking forward to the next episode!

Randy and Mike, Great job! Look forward to your next batch of photos.:)

Hi,I would like a CPO and a Jr.Officer in winter blues to with the new navy lanuch. Also navy blues for boarding parties and liberty.Since the lanuch would be used to ferry sailors from ship to shore for liberty.

Thank you Nicholas, Vick, Martyn and sotnik.

A couple of us did this on the Wm Britains ACW thread and it was a lot of fun to see how the next contributer would add to and/or change the story line. It adds another deminsion of interest that I think is fun for all, the presenters and the viewers.

I would also like to see some naval personnel in "shipboard" dress. For instance sailors without the canvass leggings - these were only worn by shore parties. Some dressed in work cloths; blue chambray shirts, dungarees, knit watch caps. Also some at battle stations wearing gray painted helmets and life preservers. As for summer attire, although not official, many of the "China" sailors wore short-sleeved shirts and shorts. These were not issued but made by local Chinese tailors for our sailors. There is alot more that can be added to this marvelous range.

This Osprey volume has a section on the Brown Water Navy 1920-41 and the Sand Pebbles
The China Marines are also covered briefly.
