Scenes of 1920s-30s China (1 Viewer)

Those "China Marines" look great, love the M1897 or could it be M1912 trenchgun.

Cheers

Martyn:)

I really love these photos, and you have a lot of nice figures. This is one range I wish I had collected.

Thank you kindly gentlemen; Nicholas, Jake, Scott, Martyn, Titus, and 6th WI

I don't think this was identified in any of the literature on this range release. Since these are circa 1927 marines I would think its a M1912. Its a great looking figure and my favorite marine so far (I only have 2 ;)) . . . . Mike

Another street scene using the other sets I received yesterday #HK046M Traditional Chinese Bench, #HK112M Sitting Mother and Daughter, and #HK134A Street Sign & Lamp Post.. Also shown are #HK155M Shoeshine Set, and #HK089 Chinese Moon Gate.

1927 - Chungking China Street Scene
A mother sits and knits while her young daughter helps. They seem to give scant notice to the British sailor on leave from the gunboat HMS Gannat, a common sight anymore in the Chungking harbor .

PICT0006-3.jpg

NOTE: The stone wall background behind the mother/daughter set is actually a picture I took of the wall of the #SP029 Jetty. I was able to crop it to scale and adjust the color temperature/tone/saturation to closely match the actual jetty. I used HP Premium Plus Semi-gloss photo paper, 75lb, 11.5 mil

I knew this was going to be a great thread;). As an aside I shall have to post a picture of my M1897, no longer a shooter I'm afraid:(

Cheers

Martyn:)

Brilliant job with the photo of the jetty wall...I would never have known...even now, it looks like the real thing in the photo! Time to go pro, Mike!

"Under Suspicion"

Local businessman and reputed Chinese crime lord Li Han is questioned about the disappearance of a U.S. Navy seaman on the night of the murder of the hostess at the Palace of Heavenly Pleasure one of the many businesses owned by Han in the city.

Thanks fellas: LT, Martyn, John, Nicolas, and Randy.

I'll leave the "pro stuff" to Randy (PolarBear) and Bob (UKReb).

Speaking of Randy . . . . . Nicely done and a great continuation of the Chinese mystery story. I don't have any of the figures that you used in this scene - I do have the US Navy Petty Officer on order from TF. I would recommend that this investigation be taken to Hui Le Li (the Lane of Lingering Happiness) where there are well over 100 Sing Song Houses (brothels). Perhaps the missing sailor was there.

Mestell:
Splendid photo of the Sailor in China vignette!

"The Scuttlebut"

As tentions mount over the missing sailor, two sailors from the USS Palos (PG-16) and two Marines share what they have heard about the situation. They are standing on the foot bridge that separates the international consulate compound from the public pier area . . . . . Mike

Mike

Those China Marines look great and that bridge could almost pass for the side of a ship. My 1st marine is on his way from TF and I hope to have it monday or tuesday so stay tuned:)

Dear Mike:
Spendid photo of a circa 1926 in China vignette with with great background or backdrop! I enjoyed it very much.
Best regards, Gary in Waukesha County, Wisconsin 2/21/2010

"Flight or Plight"

The scuttlebutt has it that the sailor who disappeared the night that the teahouse hostess was murdered is now in mainland China. The unanswered question is did he run away or was he kidnapped by one of the local Chinese gangs? A USN steam launch has stopped along the Yangtze River to deliver a dispatch concerning the missing sailor to the China Marines in the area.
