QUOTE=The Collectors Showcase;318086]Tiger, a Tiger, ahh now thats an idea...why wouldn't that be nice with thrown track option and all...:D:D:D

Yes, a very nice idea indeed:D[/QUOTE]

There are scale difference within the product lines of most manufacturers over time, except so far for FL, but their selection is still very limited.

Terry
VERY TRUE Terry......The First Legion Stalingrad Series has so far remained "very consistant" with-in the product line in regards to scale.......First Legions selection within this line just keeps expanding and improving....Very soon this FL WWII series will be anything but limited....That's why I'm on board with them right from the start.....I think what all of us want is "consistency of scale within a manufacturers line".....To expect consistency between different manufacturers versions of scale is highly unlikely so don't fret over that one....Not ever gonna happen....

Vezzolf....

The initial idea behind this thread was the difference in one manufacturer CS and the Tigers and new Panzer IV. Now we understand what the reason behind the difference in the Tiger 1 scale its easy to rectify with a new release. Never enough Tiger 1 variants to go around. As stated FL are doing some good stuff but, they have as I highlighted had their own issues. Not a dig, just a factual observation. Its much easier for new manufacturers to now come into the market and, get things right better than older manufacturers and, with the forthcoming release of TG vehicles and AFV's we have the opportunity to view and critique another new manufacturer adding to the hobby.

The later point is true enough Mitch but as I recall the FL "issues" you noted was simply the one time slight enlargement of the figures in the Stalingrad line which was done early on, unless you meant something else. Best to make sure we have the right understanding of the factual observations.

I agree with Bill here. What issues are you referring to? I think their figures and AFVs are very good. I don't see too many issues there.

I think one of the main reasons First Legion has "got it right better" as you say is because they have chosen their own path in regards to scale and style...I believe they are the most accurate 1:30 scale company out there now.....They have not tried to clone or match up with other manufacturers either in scale or style.....They have thus far remained very consistant within their own line and as I see it have had few if any issues.....All that aside as long as every manufacturer is consistent within their own product in regards to "scale?" and "style"....I think there will be few complaints from collectors.

Vezzolf....

No argument really. What I was saying is that with the power K&C holds in the market I can clearly understand why some manufacturers will do 'linkings' with that range while they are starting out. I think this is especially so when they begin with WWII. FL if I am correct did not start with WWII did they? so, were not so mindfull of this feature in the market IMO and, now, as they have established their niche when they did branch out so, to speak, they were relatively unshackled.

I think there is more than enough room for all in the market and, I like the variations as, if everyone, tried to get it similar whats the point? I like the differences big or small if the set appeals I buy. For me, its that simple but, I do like discussing this stuff.

Mitch, I think FL decided to be unique right from the beginning.....They showed alot of confidence in themselves and their product to "not copy" the K/C model....As a result they are the un-disputed leader in their style....Truely a gutsy company...no accident as to who they are....they have there own identity....but as you say there is room for varying styles in the hobby.....again I think we all want some consistency within the product lines....if your 1:30th then stay 1:30th....if your 1:32 then stay 1:32 for pete's sake.....but be consistent......this is a reasonable exspectation for collectors

I also think that is a reasonable expectation at least within a given line or historical period. For example, I don't think anyone would be too concerned if a manufacturer's Roman line figures were larger or smaller than its ACW figures but certainly the Napoleonic (and 1812) releases should match up in scale for my purposes. Of course if they are all the same, so much the better.;)

Terry, how do these compare?

One is bigger :rolleyes::D:D

The Tiger should be a bit shorter than the Panther and it is. The Panther should be a bit narrower than the Tiger, but I can't tell from the photo. They need to be put back end to back end.

I now have a CS Panther coming to keep my Panzer 4:), company. Since none of my Tigers now measure up :(and it is all Brian's fault:mad:, it is only fair that he produces a new Tiger:cool:, unless he wants me to go to those " other guys ", for satisfaction.:eek: Michael

Since we are all friends now, any chance of revisiting the more subtle camo of your Tiger..I am not a big fan the Panther camo and that was what gave me pause to buy it in the beginning. Thanks, Michael
