Size Matters.... (4 Viewers)

The Panther looks very good too....CS seems to be producing some very good AFV's:)....The CS panther does look a little too oversized next to the K/C Tunsian Tiger...So who has the scale correct??...that seems to be the question....What is the general opinion in this regard?

Terry, how do these compare?

The Panther was 2 feet longer..I do not know how that translates to scale inches, but the K/C Tiger ought be a little longer yet, but shorter than the Panther...I will let the engineers answer this one:) Michael

Since you politely said engineer even while thinking rivet counter ...

The hull of the Panther is 22' 6" vs the Tiger at 20' 8" or 22" longer. At 1:30 scale that is 3/4" difference.

Just another reason for a Tiger not that one is needed. I like the disruptive ambush type patterns and many late war patterns were very creative but, first off we need a 'grey' Tiger then any pattern to fit the period will do

Panther is about 3/4" longer than the Tiger, which means the Tiger can be an acceptable fit. The Mark should be almost 6' shorter than the Panther, or about 3" scale ft. to be acceptable relative size. NO WAY, NO HOW...Panzer 4 must go..:( Bummer,Michael

They look OK to me. The rear mud guards on the Panzer IV stick out a long way and I am not sure they are counted as part of the hull dimensions.

My info has the Tiger being 0.37m longer than the Panzer 4 or 15" which at 1:30 is just 1/2". The Panther is 0.96m longer than the Panzer IV or 38" which at 1:30 is 1-1/4".

Mud guards are not usually included in hull dimensions and the Mark IV looks near enough compared to the Panther, however the Tiger is undersized as recently admitted by CS.

Thank you for the pics Maddadicus.

I own the CS Arnham Tiger. I carefully measued the width, height and length of the hull.
The dimensions are correct for 1:30 scale and are the same as the K & C Tunisian Tiger and the Honor Bound Tiger. Gun barrel length is different in each manufacturers product.
The correct 1:30 scale dimensions are: Width 122 mm, Height 100 mm Length 215 mm.
Deck height as previously noted is 60 mm. Tollerance on measurements is +/_ 1 mm. Measurement of a single sample of a product is not conclusive as Polystone shrinks in the mould and the mould wears over time; so no two will be exactly the same. I hope this data is helpful in resolving this issue of correct scale of the respective Tiger I tanks of current production i.e not early efforts of 1/32 - 1/35 scale from various manufacturers.

Michael; A photo posted on the Figarti thread by Joe Sgis on 8/24/2010 post#14 shows the Figarti winter PK IV side by side with the Collectors Showcase winter Tiger. The size in relaton to each other is in correct scale. A Figarti PK IV would meet you requirements. Regards
