Size Matters.... (6 Viewers)

So should a collector, just stay within the boundaries of what ever manufacturer they like,
Look that way to me

So I guess I am Done for, I have not found one manufacturer that I did not like, K&C got my interest started, Figarti has Some great AFV, WBritains has done the Civil War pretty well, First Legion Has done their miniatures, Extremely well. Collectors Showcase, Have the Best AFV's out.
I guess I am a collector that Loves and appreciates in awe, The piece that I am holding for that moment and thinks it is the best. On whoever might make it.

There are scale variations between different manufacturers some of the time but at other times they match up closely. There are scale difference within the product lines of most manufacturers over time, so collecting just one manufacturer won't work either, except so far for FL, but their selection is still very limited.

I don't believe the manufacturers deliberately set out to confuse things. I think it is just how the industry evolved.

Fortunately, my display shelves are small enough to limit the number of AFVs that will fit so I can always have AFVs of a compatible size grouped together. :)

Terry...

I think thats spot on early K&C is very different in scale to now and, rightly so, Brian came on and explained why the Tiger 1 was smaller in scale and, has now basically, just thought sod it everything will be 1/30th.

I think it is easier for FL as they have not been out long as you say but, I think there have been issues there with scale of figures changing from the start so, I just think everyone is trying to put out the best AFV's etc to an ever critical and aware group of collectors.

As to scale or size, or whatever, my Tigers better be larger than a Mk.4 or I will not be happy. The vehicles have to look right alongside each other. I dumped my KC Wittmann Tiger (too small) to get the CS Wittmann Tiger. If I buy a CS Panther or Mk. 4, then the CS Tiger will go too. I don't need or want undersized Tigers. They were about the largest tank on the field and should look that way. JMHO. -- Al

I see what you are saying about undersized Tigers but, remember the panther was bigger than the Tiger 1 so, expect it to be bigger than the Tiger 1
Not being an anorak but, at the end of this post are the specs yes, the tiger was big and much bigger than most on the battlefiield but, not all so, some lee-way needs to be given
Mitch

Panther
Length: 6.87 metres
: 8.66 metres with gun
Width: 3.27 metres
: 3.42 metres with skirts
Height:2.99 metres

Tiger 1
Length: 6.29 metres
: 8.45 metres with gun
Width: 3.55 metres
Height: 3.0 metres

Thanks for the info, Mitch. I knew the Panther was a tick longer than the Tiger, but I didn't know the exact dimensions. I was just trying to make a point about appearances and I was hinting that I would like a true 1/30 Tiger to go with the correct scale Mk.V & IV. -- Al

Yes to be clear, there was one slight change in the size of FL Stalingrad figures early on but even it is not that noticable side to side. The figures in their other lines are extremely consistent, as are all Stalingrad figures after the one early shift. Of course, the AFV line is just getting started so naturally it is at this moment limited.

Spitfrnd...

Thanks for the clarification I could not recall which figures it was

Not a problem and I know where you are coming from and I think on the whole the manufacturers are trying to get it pin point for their customers. I would think a return to the Tiger 1 may well be on the CS horizon

If they remake a CS Tiger, I would be first in line to oder from my dealer.

I seem to recall a request for a picture...:D

I guess I am now looking for a CS Panther. Do any of the new K/C Tigers look right, unless of course CS will be revisiting the Tiger? Michael

Tiger, a Tiger, ahh now thats an idea...why wouldn't that be nice with thrown track option and all...:D:D:D

Yes, a very nice idea indeed:D

The sold out Tunisian Tiger is 1:30 as measured by me. The new Kursk tiger should be identical.
