well it is probably true that i am a german or an englishman, but this was soooooooooooooooooooooooooo long time ago and how can i be sure right?
Only my surname do not mean nothing and no matter if my surname is the 14 most popular surname in surrey or 2600+ in England,.....that all do not immportant.
What is immportant is the heart and my heart beat for Slovenija and i am born in this beautyfull country and tommorow my country will take the lead in group C before England,USA and Algeria,.....and will be the first european country in this world cup that will accualy win someone haha.....

To be a Slovenian it is a privilige that have only 2 million people in the world!

gooooooooooo Slovenija!!!!!! tommorow we will win!!!!!!!! big time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I imagine this will not play well in England and I would be disappointed if I were an English supporter. I can only imagine what the press is saying. I'm sure Capello will be savaged for his choice and rightly so. I would have started David James. However, it could have been worse I suppose.

Well the early postmortem is indeed saying it could have been worse, and the goalkeeper partly redeemed himself with a fine save in the second half. But we did want a better start than a draw,we have to win the next game.

Yes, the last thing you want to do is lose the first match. That really puts you behind the 8 ball. That happened to Spain in 98 in France and they never recovered. Better to come away with a point than none at all.

Does anybody know what the farthest a team ever got in the World Cup without winning a single game?

Disappointing performance by England, once again. The US midfield worked much better than the non existent English midfield. Curious that Lampard and Gerrard, such great players, don't seem to work well together, they play in the same position, it clearly is not working, maybe when Barry gets playing things will get better.
Rooney has genius written all over him, in every time he touches the ball, he almost scored in the second half. He is clearly the best English player, but the others are not on a par, especially Lennon (a good player but that's it, no genius), or Heskey (he had a good game doing what he knows, but he is a limited player, just look at that second half miss, straight at the keeper, Argentina's Milito would have buried that big time the way he did from the same position in the Champion's League final). The team also looks in big trouble at the back, with Ferdinand and now seemingly King gone, you get left with...Carragher, just look at the way he almost let a goal in in the second half... What's going on with Upson, is he any good? Wright Phillips looked ... plainly ridiculous...And Green, well, these things do happen, but they certainly don't boost the confidence of the defense...
I liked the right back Johnson, very good game, good dribbling (probably not that easy against an Italian defender...). Lampard and Gerrard taken individually are always class acts, the coach will have to find a way, probably by getting Barry in in front of the defense, of finally using these 2 to their full potential.
The US are getting better and better, no great stars but much much better team work than England, they might have won it (as England might). A case of superior English skill being held by clever US workmanship. Both teams have good chances of going through, but I believe both Algeria and Slovenia will be very hard competitors for these 2. Unless that English midfield finally starts working well (and covers their defense the best way they can by running after the ball like mad dogs...)...

I guess it was a fair result: England 1 USA 1.

It was a very impressive performance from the USA team.

However, it leaves me less strident about England's chances for the World Cup.

Tim Howard, US keeper and Man of the Match had this to say:

"I feel terribly for him but when you are goalkeeping you have to have broad shoulders."

Play On.....

First, let me get this out of the way...

USA! USA! USA!

Ok, got that out of my system. Fantastic for the red, white, and blue to get a result against a clearly superior UK team.

The other thing I want to comment on is the Gerard/Lampard thing. These are two of the finest midfielders in the world, but you're absolutely right, they're like oil and water playing together. They need to play Gerard as an attacking midfielder and drop Lampard back. Gerard is only brilliant when given the free reign to attack, playing him side by side with Lampard just won't work. It should on paper, but it doesn't in reality.

I feel bad for Green as that was the worst goal in the history of the World Cup....but I'll gladly take it. ;)

Nicely put.I think we have just got to work harder as a whole in the next game.I felt that the US were going forward whenever they could and we need to get the flow going, get some rhythm in there.Gerard semed to be everywhere and we'd be in trouble without him.I hope our press don't crucify the goalkeeper as this will do no good at all, what a freak goal, but they all count.

Rob

when we win today,we will have two match points haha,so one of the favourites USA or England will go home haha!!!!!

as long as all results in grp are draws then 2 teams will progress without winning a game

Half time Algeria v Slovenia, and a pretty boring first half.Few chances, and littlle skill on show, lets hope the managers put some fire in the belly and they come out to try and win.

Rob

wooooooooooooooooo-hooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what did i tell you?????

WHO IS THE BEST!??????

S l o v e n i j a!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i admit it was a boring game(hard to watch) but i did warn before in some previous messages that we do not play beautyfull football but efective football.
We can not afford to play beautyfull football because we do not have a big base of players,we are a small nation only two million people and we cover everything, our ice hokey is in a GROUP A, a lot of our basket ball players play in the NBA we also have Vujacic who play in the final for NBA,we have a lot of other who play in NBA,we hav eatlets who win gold medal in Olimpics,....and we also have a foootball players who are in world cup.....and they are winning, they work on the pitch and it is very hard to give us goals, but we also manage to score so now we only need two draw(and we have very good defence, and one of the best goal keeper) and we will go to the next round. It is simple!
And believe me it will be hard to give us goal. But if we score a goal than we can also win,so watch out USA and England......

.....HERE COME SLOVENIAN POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure it will be simple Ales.Congratulations on your win and you certainly played much better in the second half. However you were playing what is recognised as the worst team in the competition and they were a man down after an absurd sending off.I think you will find the US and England a bit tougher to beat than that, but a win is a win and well done Slovenia!:).

Rob

Congratulations on Slovinia's win, Ales. It wasn't pretty but all that counts is the W. -- Al

Thank you for the congratulations!!!
Well about the red card it was completely honest because the player play with th ehand for which it is the rule that it is strike with a yellow card so since he already have a yellow card now he have second yellow card which is equal red card it is very honest and good referee.
For now Slovenia is the only European country winning for Europe.cccccc:D:D;)

Well anyway now at least USA and England will take us more serious in the next game and i know everything is still open for everybody but still at least for now we are at the top of the group C with the 3 points.
And yesterday Argentina win which i also cheer for them and i wish very well for some other countries to do their best like Brazil,Portugal,.....

Ales,

It is always good to get a win so I congratulate you and your countrymen but that was one of the worst matches I've seen so far in this tournament. To be honest, none of the matches have been very memorable.

Slovenia will need to play much better to beat England or the US, which I don't see happpening.

I agree with Brad about the quality of games so far,I guess USA v England was best so far,and that was hardly great
