Sturmtiger: first shots (1 Viewer)

Wow i thought my NMA winter version was good, but these are something else.Love the open hatches and crane. The quality of of HB vehicles is really good and i can't wait to see the Shermans. If there is a desert option i don't think i'll be able to resist.

Rob,

I don't think Desert option will be available. The Sturm Tiger entered service in 1944.

3 in Feb 44.

10 in Sept 44.

5 in Dec 44.

Regards.

Nasir Kasmani.

Any pictures of what the Warsaw uprising version would look like? This is best I can come up with: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb-oXaaWqXk

On August 12 1944 the prototype of the Sturmtiger was sent to Warsaw from the Alkett factory. It arrived on August 15. The first prototype had an early chassis with the rubber rimmed roadwheels. A second Sturmtiger arrived in the Warsaw area on Auguest 18. Both vehicles were employed in the Warsaw area for about four weeks. From the information I have the prototype was covered with a Dunkelgelb only scheme (like the second HB sample). I don't have any pictures of the second Sturmtiger that was sent to Warsaw. From the video you posted it looks like that vehicle has a Dunkelgelb only scheme. The pictures of the prototype I have show the early chassis version which won't do you much good.

Sorry Nasir i was talking about the Sherman,my mistake for mentioning them in the Sturmtiger thread:eek:

Rob

Rob means the Desert Sherman. Unless K & C makes one in the interim, Rob and I will both be getting one.

I'm going to need you guys to help me when it comes to the Sherman. There are so many possibilities. It's not like the Sturmtiger where you are trying to model one of 18 units. :)

Hi Rob/Brad,

A desert sherman would be a great diorama..

But to have an outstanding diorama, put it with the Tunisian Tiger.:D

Frank,

I'll need the help myself! I've started to do a little research on the Sherman and have come across a couple of books from Concord.

We will probably need Gary the "Shermanaholic" to help us out with suggestions for further research.

The Imperial War Museum should have a treasure trove of photos and such so at least as far as the British Sherman for desert may be concerned, Rob should be able to help us out there, right Roberto?;)

Am there next Saturday Brad, will see what they've got.Like the sound of those Concord books though, which titles do you have re the Sherman?

Rob

Rob,

I don't have them but was checking out around the web. Will try to post links later (son needs the computer).

The majority of the books I own detailing armor are the Osprey books. Concord Publications looks to be like another great source. I would probably go for the desert Sherman or the Firefly since I have a couple of the HB 76mm Shermans. I am still holding out for a Brit Cromwell.
Brad, has K & C ever produced a Cromwell?

BTW I've already ordered a Sturmtiger so I'll be the guinea pig :)

I've requested one from Sturm-Morser-Kp.1000 in the area of Duren February 1945.

This is right at the tail end of of the Battle of Hurtgen Forest (Schlacht im Hurtgenwald)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Hurtgen_Forest

Interestingly none of the Sturmtigers seem to carry unit identification numbering or even a Balkenkreuz so this leaves the camouflage as the identifying characteristic.

good on you Frank.

if memories serve me well, you were also the first to order the HB Tiger.

That splendid Tiger of yours was the sales pitch Ana needed, and convince me to get one myself. I'm sure it also convinced the other guys.

I'll be waiting to see your Sturm Tiger.

Sincerely,

nasir kasmani.

Yes, they did, in the pre polystone days. This one is from Louis' collection, http://www.toysoldiersusa.com/cgi-local/show_detail.cgi?item_id=TK16
