Seems I missed the manned Gatling Gun photos on the 13th and 16th that both you and Lawrence posted Martyn an glad I got to see them today along with your Highlanders getting the better of Hadendowa Warriors. Love it when you guys visit the Sudan. Nicely photograph close up photos of your Gun teams Sir Martyn.:cool::cool::cool:

Many thanks Joe.

As you know the Gatlings proved their worth at Gingindhlovu and Ulundi before they were even used in Egypt or The Sudan;)

Very nice Martyn, I think I may be in the wrong campaign

Thanks Scott.

I think the 1882 War in Egypt is a great campaign.

Coming just after the end of the Zulu War the uniforms are very similar but you have the addition a several kilted Scottish Regiments and a very heavy involvement of the Naval Brigade and Cavalry. The campaign is a natural prequel to the later Nile Expedition.By the way both the Zulu War and the War in Egypt only last for a matter of months.

Cheers

Another outstanding tale told and photograph featuring the Glossy Master's Sudan Sets and Figures Martyn. Len had such a great talent providing sets that brought numerous Battles and Scenes to life in Gloss. Was provided a hint by you earlier of what you had headed our way knowing it would be another GEM....Thanks once again for sharing your play time with us..........Joe

Hi Martyn,

Another very nice display.....your photos bring out the best of Trophy gloss.

The bound volume of the Illustrated London News of July to December 1882 issues must have been a hard to find journal.

Thanks, Raymond.:)

Hi Raymond

I’m very pleased you like the pictures.

I was lucky finding this ILN, the complete history of the War in Egypt is contained within this 6 month volume.

Here is a picture of the cover of the July 1st issue showing the rioters in Alexandria on June 11th

ILNJULY1.jpg

And some more pictures of the British Navy ships and Alexandria Harbour

This is an interesting sketch by Melton Prior of a firing squad from the Naval Brigade, I had not seen this picture before along with many, many others:D
