Sudan Campaigns 1880 - 1898 (2 Viewers)

Martyn...

I really love these "recreations" you're doing...

God knows you have enough figures to duplicate just about any painting or drawing you can find...

your AMAZING variety of poses seem to have no limits...

of the Trophy series that you collect...

1)what are they and

2)what percentage of their offerings do you think you own...

you couldn't be missing too many sets...

GREAT WORK!!!

and it goes without saying...

GREAT COLLECTION!!!

Many thanks Michael.

Following up your very interesting question I have done a rough calculation and broken it down % wise, based on the total number of set variants released by Trophy for each campaign

I have got sets from:

Crimea 10%

Indian Mutiny 50%

Raj 30%

Afghan/NWF 25%

AZW 95%

Egypt and The Sudan 60%

The Boer War 50%

Civilians 20%

My % figure is based on the total number of sets produced by Trophy.
Now if only Trophy were still going I would be steadily filling the gaps.;)

Cheers

Hi Martyn,

Just a thought.....

Have you considered collecting the Boxer Rebellion, the Napoleonic Wars and the rest ?

I know we all have to draw the line somewhere, but I would be tempted if I were in your place.

Cheers, Raymond.:)

Hi Raymond

I should have collected the Boxer Rebellion back in the mid 1990's when all, or almost all, the sets were available but I purchased a Harley-Davidson WLA and started collecting K&C WW2 instead. The WLA and K&C have now been sold and my TS collecting has reverted to Trophy, too late for the Boxers I fear. I never had an interest in the Napoleonic range

Martyn,
Quite an impressive list you have there:eek: I encourage you to please continue with your present course of action and complete the other Trophy ranges before you start with the Boxers:p Hopefully, it will provide me the opportunity to complete the range before you jump in, but why do I still have this sinking feeling that you will complete the Boxers before I do:(:) In jest, (well partially!) Lawrence

Lawrence mate,
You can't afford those old sets because you have a son to put through College, your wife needs a new Kitchen and you have to pay off the long holiday to Europe. Unless....... maybe ;););) someone is paying them for you.
Will miss not seeing you in Chicago this year.
Cheers cobber, Howard:cool::cool:

Hi Martyn,

I always enjoy viewing the photographs of your Trophy sets/figures.

Your threads/posts have been very helpful in providing information on Trophy, especially the AZW range which is my favourite.

I have several of your posts/photographs "bookmarked" as references.

You must be one of the few with a near complete collection of Trophy AZW (95%) which is just super.

Have you considered writing a reference book on Trophy ?

Len Taylor could write the opening paragraph on the story of Trophy.

Just a suggestion only.

Raymond.:)

Have no fear Lawrence you will have the complete set of Boxers well before I even start:D The only two sets I have are BS7 - British Sailors and BEQ49 - Nordenfeldt manned by French Marines.

Howard,

What are you doing in the glossy section? Hopefully, you will be finishing your matte collections soon and coming over to the enlightened section of the Forum! Nevertheless, truer words were never spoken :D My son, daughter and wife thank you for your generous donations toward improving their quality of life and my sanity :). I will certainly miss the camaraderie at the Chicago show, but family comes first. Please pass my best to that motley crew you associate with:p All the best, Lawrence

Thank you Joe

I've managed to find several ILN bound copies:

July-Dec 1882 (The Egyptian War)
July-Dec 1884 (The Nile Expedition)
Jan- Jun 1885 (The Nile Expedition and Fall of Khartoum)

+ some related issues from The Graphic and The Pictorial World

Should keep me amused for ages;):D

Here is a taster from The ILN March 21 1885
