Tank Barrel problems......... (2 Viewers)

Have you had this problem and on how many tanks

The only barrel problem I had from K&C was on the Elefant. When I opened the box, the barrel was bent down like a banana, but that was only because the groove in the styrofoam box was inadequately cut. I contacted K&C to ask them if it was made of a soft metal that could be bent back & they were nice enough to reply in the affirmative. problem solved.

Howard

Just did a walk around and checked my one tank. It looks OK. So between us, that is 128 without a problem!{sm4}{sm4}

I Have the russian tanks also and, as they have been mentioned by another poster I have also not had any problems with the russian ones. As someone else has mentioned dogs in this thread we should align this post with a sick dog and put it out of its misery. It does seem from the many replies that its not a manufacturing problem as not everyone is having problems, its not a conspiracy that only a few are brave enough to discuss either??? I think its just something that happens to some, like breakages.

I did mention when Figarti and CS were doing opening and closing hatches and all the other model making imports that have come into this hobby that the more parts like this that move eventually the more problems will happen down the line. Model makers do not play with their built AFV's like many do with these polystone and other mediums that are used in this hobby for me, they are display items, not toys. I prefer to have parts that don't move personally as soon as one has opening and closing hatches etc one wants to open and close them. On some sets I have when closed they are so tight you are unable to re-open them without using a small bladed article!!! or, so slack they don't open to the points they should.

Thats why I have been pleased that K&C (until the latest T-34's) stayed away from this option and hope that it was a one off

My only surprise in the thread is that Howard states he only has 127 AFV's

As we have just been discussing this here are the photo's of the sherman 105 tank turret dismantled showing the way that K&C builds its turrets. I am not sure if this is still the way they do this now but, I know a few that have this system. The springs push in as I explained allowing the bar to go through the holes the spring tension holds the gun barral in place due to the pressure it exerts keeping it stable and, not allowing the droop.

On this specific AFV the springs were slightly to long causing enourmous pressure which, resulted in the side of the mantlet attached to the turret to snap around the hole where the bar would go through. I had to shorten the springs slightly and then glue back the snapped piece. It works fine and the pressure is correct and keeps the barral in position.

Hope this helps as the pictures show easier what I was trying to explain earlier. Apologies for the first picture cannot take pictures very well

I had no idea they had such a complex design. I wonder if they are all like that?

But it doesn't matter - too difficult for me to do any repairs. The barrels will just have to stay in the traveling position.

No problem. Its harder to explain than it is to fix. I thought I had deleted from the camera these pics anyway so, I am glad I finally found them

We have had some issues, particularly with the Sherman Firefly tanks, but for the most part K&C vehicles are very good. The new Russian T-34s have a different system than the older vehicles (at least it seems this way) and the new system appears to not have this problem at all.

As far as the movable hatches, I actually am a huge fan of this because I like my displays to be combat scenes and I don't want a guy to be standing up out of the hatch while he's being shot at. So with the RA025-3 I can take the guy out and close the hatch and the tank is ready to fight the Battle of Kursk.
 
Also, just looking at our store displays, the Carro Armato tanks, both AK version and Aussie version, seem to have issues with the barrel drooping slightly.
(In case anyone is curious, Treefrog has both of these versions in stock)
